dare

"I'M SO BORED," Clara complained, sitting beside me. It was past three, so we still had a lot of time before people started arriving.

"We could always play truth or dare," Wyatt said.

"No," I said.

Wyatt quirked an eyebrow, staring at me. "Why?"

He didn't need to know about what happened the last time I played truth or dare, so I settled for a simple shrug.

"Let's go trick or treating," Emery suggested and I nodded. It sounded a lot better than playing truth or dare.

We decided to take Emery's and Caelum's car since Clara and I didn't bring our cars and Wyatt was too lazy to drive his. Driving down the streets, we stopped at random houses where we saw children exiting with large grins on their faces.

So far, I had filled up half of Poof with candy. We earned a few odd looks from some parents, but it didn't stop us from filling our respective bowls. Caelum didn't have a bowl but I decided to share half of my candy with him, seeing as my bowl was twice the size of the others.

"This is still boring," Clara complained once we got back into the car.

Wyatt looked at me. "We could still play truth or dare..."

I shook my head at him. "What if your spin lands on Emery or Caelum?" He didn't have a suitable response to that, but I grinned when he wrinkled his nose.

"Well, we don't really have to spin any bottles," Clara reasoned. "For each house we go to get candy now, we can just give out a random dare to one person."

"Makes sense." Emery nodded while Caelum didn't look interested one bit.

When nobody objected, Clara continued. "Wyatt, in the next house we go to, I dare you to act like a serial killer and ask for candy."

Wyatt smirked. "Watch and learn, amigos."

We finally reached the next house and we ran to hide behind the bushes, watching Wyatt from where he stood on the porch. The door opened to reveal a green-haired woman. She looked like she'd just woken up when Wyatt rang the doorbell. "Give me all your candies or I'll shoot you," Wyatt threatened.

He looked so funny but I refrained from laughing because I knew the woman was going to hear me from where she was stood. "Just give me a minute," she said, running into the house to get the candies, I assumed.

What none of us didn't see coming was the turn of events. The woman didn't go in to bring the candies as I'd assumed, she brought a gun. Holy shit! Wyatt flung his bowl of candy on the woman without a second thought and she instantly locked her door shut.

I couldn't hold in my laughter even if I'd tried, so I was practically wheezing. I wasn't the only one who found it funny though, even Caelum was laughing.

"That was hilarious." I pointed towards the house when Wyatt came to stand with us. Clara and Emery found it hard to talk since they were still laughing.

Wyatt nodded in agreement. "I actually thought she was going to shoot me or something," he said. "She probably figured it was a prank since Daesyn kept laughing."

I let out a gasp, crossing my arms. "I wasn't even laughing."

"Hmm," Wyatt responded like he didn't believe me.

"Yeah," I said. "I wasn't even laughing. She just didn't find you threatening enough."

"Whatever," he muttered. "I lost all of my candies."

I frowned, suddenly feeling guilty. I knew I had tried my best to not laugh when Wyatt was with the woman, but if I had just agreed to play the truth or dare, maybe he wouldn't have lost all of his candies.

"I could give you half of mine," I said, patting him on the back. "My bowl is really big."

"I thought you said you were giving me half of yours," Caelum said, and every pair of eyes turned to him.

"Well, I brought the idea of sharing with you," I told him. "But you said you didn't want any."

"I lied."

Emery snickered. "I could give Caelum some of my jelly beans."

"No."

"No, what?" I asked. "What do you want, then?"

"Half of your candies."

I turned to Wyatt. "I'll give you part of mine, and then Emery could give you extra."

"What about me?"

I glared at him. "Maybe if you had let me finished," I said. "Then you would've known what I was about to say."

Clara chuckled. "Y'all have issues."

Caelum ignored her. "So?"

"So, I'll give you half of the ones remaining," I said. "You good?"

He nodded, grinning. I rolled my eyes. Wyatt threw an arm around my neck. "You're amazing."

Caelum pulled Wyatt away from me, saying he had something to discuss with him. When Wyatt had asked what the matter was, he said he'd already forgotten. I didn't even know what was up with the dude.

"Okay Daesyn," Emery said when we stopped at the next house. I had thought we were done playing the game after what happened with Wyatt and the green-haired woman, but Emery didn't want to hear any of it. "I dare you to flirt with the next guy to open the door."

"Next guy?" I asked. "Even if he's old?"

"Yes, Daesyn." She grinned. "Even if he's an old man."

"Why?" Caelum glared at her. "Why should she flirt with the guy?"

Interesting.

Emery gave him a 'duh' look. "Because it's a dare."

"Change the dare," Caelum demanded.

"Why are you even complaining?" Emery asked, a small smirk on her lips.

He shrugged. "Just change the dare."

"What's it to you?" I asked, with furrowed brows.

"Enough!" Wyatt interrupted, rubbing his temple. "Let's just go home, please. All this bickering is making me sick, and the party is about to start."

Clara nodded, dragging me and Emery to the car. I glared at Wyatt for interrupting us. I wanted to know why Caelum had wanted Emery to change my dare.
