"Are you ready?" Trevor teased, wiggling his eyebrows at me knowing I'm basically so close to having a heart attack right now.

"Uh no! I'm literally gonna be the only girl there and it's so awkward." I gritted my teeth at the thought of other people just staring deep into my soul.

"Okay where the hell is Arielle? I can't find her!" Coach Alex exclaimed loudly, causing me to shudder in nervousness. "Ah! There you are! You're gonna be the first swimmer." He smiled widely, gesturing for me to go to the pool.

Out of all the 10 other members in my team, of course I had to be the first one chosen. Ugh.

"Yes! Go Arielle!" I hear Trevor yell out as I awkwardly walked towards the pool.

Heavily curious to whom I was gonna go up against, I quickened my pace towards the starting block.

Suddenly the loud announcer started to speak, alarming the other competitors to hurry up and come already.

"First swimmer from The MakoSharks, Ryoshi Kanazakhi!" The man melodramatically announced, causing loud cheers from one side of the gymnasium.

"First swimmer from The SeaSnakes, Adam Trenner."

Is it really that necessary to announce all 6 players? I just want this to be over already!

"First swimmer from The Torpedoes, Jose Torres."

"First swimmer from The TigerSharks, Arielle Tesfaye."

Well there's my name.

"WHOOO! GO ARIELLE"
"GO GET THEM!"
"YASS!"
"DON'T DROWN!"
"BREAK A LEG!"

I hear my teammates yell, causing me to let out a small laugh about how they're literally the loudest people in the gymnasium right now.

"First swimmer from the Great White Sharks, Casper Lionel."

Uh oh here we go.

"And lastly, first swimmer from the Stingrays, Mason Hunter." The announcer finished, pulling out a whistle as the crowd continued to go crazy.

Mason's spot just so happened to be right next to mine, causing me to uncontrollably blush as his eyes started to gaze at me.

"Good luck." He winked, continuing to look intently at me, making me more and more nervous for no apparent reason.

"Same to you." I breathed, not even bothering to look at him as I tried my hardest to focus.

"Get ready."

"Set."

PRUUHH!!

My body rapidly tensed up at the touch of the cold water, slightly boosting my adrenaline into swimming faster. All my practice has been leading up to this moment, and I would kill myself if I don't win this race.

My arms stayed strong and firm as I continued to swim as fast I could to the other side, not even bothering to worry about the others but Mason. I had to beat him. Catching a quick glimpse of the edge of the pool gave me a sudden boost of energy, making me swim faster. My legs flipped up and down behind me like a fat seal trying to catch fish as my arms paddled like a puppy drowning in a pool.

"Ah!" I gasped, wiping the cold water off my face.

My gasp was followed by others, including Mason's.

Holy crap, I did it...

Loud screams quickly surrounded my area as I tried to process what just happened. Oh my God, I just beat a Stingray!

I quickly got off the the pool and was quickly greeted by the others, hugging me and telling me how good I did.

"Great job Arielle! Now go and warm up, the next event is about to happen!" Coach Alex smiled.

I nodded my head in response, returning the tight hug Coach Alex was offering.

I wrapped the warm towel that Trevor handed me around my body as I felt a light tap on my shoulder.

"Good job." Mason smirked, causing me to blush again at his sight.

"T-thank-" Levi quickly interrupted me, intentionally pressing his soft lips into mine in front of Mason.

"Good job babe." Levi cooed into my ear, causing me to wrinkle my face in distaste as his determined arms wrapped around my waist.

I felt bad as I watched Mason awkwardly walk away from us, making me nudge Levi on the shoulder.

"Ow! what was that for?" Levi playfully laughed.

"Why'd you do that? All he did was congratulate me." I narrowed my eyes at him, subtly shivering from the cold. "And don't ever call me babe ever again." I commanded, proceeding to walk towards The TigerShark's bench area as I took off the tight swimming cap that made me look like a garbanzo bean.

"Oh come on. It's obvious he wants you. I'm just trying to protect you Arielle." Levi simpered, light poking my nose.

"Um no thanks, I don't need protection." I awkwardly laughed, sitting down next to Trevor on one of the benches.

"Yes you d-" Levi glanced away from me, quickly noticing Coach Alex who was gesturing for him to come. "I'll be back." He nodded, walking off to the coach.

"Arielle boo, you just have no idea how lucky you are." Trevor murmured quietly. "You have the power to basically have any guy you want and you don't even use it."

"Trevor it's not like that." I sighed, drying my damp hair with a small towel. "Relationships are so 2009. I just don't wanna be in one."

"But why?" He exclaimed curiously, gripping onto my arm to shake it side to side.

I broke into laughter a he continued to shake me. "Because it's not worth it. Relationships never last." I coughed.

"Not if the both of you try."

"Which we won't!" I furrowed my eyebrows, landing my attention to the announcer's voice sounding off again.

"Second swimmer from The TigerSharks, Levi Carter!"

The minute Levi's name was called out, a bunch of insanely loud girls in the crowd started to scream out of nowhere.

"GO BABY!"
"MARRY ME PLEASE!"
"YOU'RE DADDY AF!"
"I STILL WANT YOU TO SWIM INSIDE ME."
"MY OVARIES ARE EXPLODING CALL 911!"

"What the hell? Does this happen every meet?" I asked Trevor, who seemed heavily annoyed about the loud screams.

"Yea. There's so many thirsty girls in the damn crowd, it's disgusting." He scoffed, rolling his eyes at the crowd as he pretended to throw up.

Many other names were also called out but we didn't care. Until of course, the swimmer for The Stingrays was announced.

"Second swimmer from The Stingrays, Xavier Black."

Oh thank god I didn't get put up against him.

The minute Xavier got ready to dive, anticipation quickly surrounded the room. The boys all perfectly aligned, patiently waiting for the whistle to go off.

PRUUHH!

I quickly blinked my eyes to see that the boys were already underneath the pool.

Looking for Xavier's lane, I also noticed Levi right next to him. Both of them zooming through the rest of the other teams. It's only  up to Levi to beat Xavier right now.

Seeing as both of them stayed at the right pace, this could very be a tie.

Until Xavier of course, just had to get heavenly speed out of nowhere and beat Levi to the end.

Coach Alex frowned as The Stingrays completely lost their shit and went crazy. One side of the room screamed in joy while the others booed Xavier down.

"Fuck." Trevor sighed, looking at a sad faced Levi who was getting off the pool.

"It is what it is, good job anyway boy." Coach Alex fist bumped him, proceeding to call out the next swimmer.

Levi walked himself towards us, being made fun off by Braxton and Max while Diego passed him a water bottle.

"Logan you're next!" Coach Alex called out.

"Shit." Logan grunted, walking towards the pool.

The announcer prepared to speak yet again, announcing the swimmers from the different teams.

"You did good." I nudged Levi on the shoulder, his eyes quickly landing on me.

"No I didn't." Levi pouted. "That could've been a point for our team." He continued, resting his head on my shoulder.

"Forget about it, there's like 8 more points to get." I smiled, gently patting his flushed red cheeks.

"Third swimmer for The TigerSharks, Logan Greene." He announced, making us release weird noises for good luck.

"Third swimmer for The Stingrays."

Oh my God here we go!

"Andrew Sutherland."
