No arrows were activated as you full on sprinted down the corridor, in fact through your night vision goggles you couldn't even see them anymore, as if they had all disappeared completely. Having someone with the power to turn off security systems was extremely useful.

Different noises that you couldn't pinpoint echoed from the main lounge into your hallway, which only increased the worry you were feeling.

But before you could enter said lounge, a body suddenly flew in view so that even though you weren't in the main lounge you could still see the single person that was in it.

Zatanna.

She skidded across the ground before catching herself, and with a swift movement of the wand gripped tightly in her hand, lifted numerous playing cards sent and sent them in a flurry off in front of her, each one being highlighted purple as she did so.

She turned her head ever so slightly during the motion, and out of the corner of her eye, saw you.

Her head quickly snapped in your direction, a look of genuine shock on her face. Before that look turned into one of absolute misery.

"This is why they say not to make a plan anymore, because it never _______ works out!"

"Was your voice just...censored?"

"Lost a bet and now for the next 6 months whenever I curse it's beeped out. Now that I've answered your question can you answer mine"

"If your question was how I got out of your trap inside a trap, I punched a wall really, really hard"

She just just blankly stared at you

"This is a plot twist that I don't appreciate in my shows"

"Well, I for one am personally not a fan of clichés. For example, the "Buying time by talking so a sneak attack can take place" cliché.

She flinched slightly.

Her shadow, whose hand had expanded and reached around her towards you, retracted itself.

"Now that, is creepy as fuck"

At that cue, a bunch of incoherent babble came from Zatanna's lips. Then bursts of condensed light shot from her wand and towards you.

Since you were still near the hallway entrance, you were trapped. Going back meant you'd eventually get hit but going forward meant you'd get hit but faster.

So you went up.

Repeating what you did earlier in the morning, you jumped onto the side of the wall and kicked off with one foot, while repeating the motion with the other.

Gaining enough height you launched yourself over the beams, rolling as you hit the ground and immediately breaking into a sprint towards the magician.

Taking that quick moment to look around the room, you found the area around you destroyed, but it was only you and Zatanna there. 'No sign of Static

"Hon, do you honestly think it's that easy to avoid my spells?"

You felt a burning heat against the back of your head.

You immediately ducked to the ground, and not a moment after multiple beams of light whooshed by where you were previously.

But instead of going straight after missing you, they curved upwards and began to aim for you again.

'Homing magic missiles. This is just splendid'

Taking a deep breath, you pushed yourself off the ground and ran opposite of before, heading back towards the entrance to the hallway.

But you avoided going back down that familiar corridor and instead headed to the wall beside it, running up it a little and using that momentum to flip backwards, letting one of the beams crash into the wall.

For the split second you were able to still look at the wall, you saw a mini crater resting where the beam had made contact.

Without a second to waste you bolted towards one of the detailed columns spread around the area.

You skidded a little, your body lightly bouncing against the wall before you narrowly moved behind the pillar, two more beams hitting the wall and dispersing but the rest following you as you continued to run.

Zatanna however was not sitting still, and with a few more flicks with her wand created even more beams that began to rush towards you opposite of the previous ones.

Changing your destination once more you began to sprint towards the caster, and in turn the new projectiles.

Mirroring what you did with one of the arrows, you slid underneath the barrage that you were about to collide into, tilting your chin up as you did so.

In turn both sets of blasts hit each other, creating a mini explosion of light.

But through that mini explosion, a lone beam continued its charge against you, moving through the aftermath of the initial clash.

You effortlessly transitioned from sliding to running as you ran directly towards Zatanna, who's wand was glowing a golden colour as you approached her.

Then once you were near she swung.

Her wand left a little golden wave behind it that disappeared as she swung it in a wide ark, while you completely avoided the blow by leaping, using her shoulders as a launching pad and flipping over here.

As her back was to you and you were no longer in the way, she saw her own projectile Speedo towards her.

With surprise audible in her voice she spoke.

"Esaec!"

Right before it could connect with her, the beam dispersed, its remnants whooshing by either side of her.

As she took a breath to calm herself down, she suddenly remembered a very important detail.

That you were behind her.

"Ecnahne" she whispered to herself, a faint green glow surrounding her body for an instant as she turned her body around at extremely high speeds, and ducking a punch aimed directly to her jaw.

Taking the chance now that the middle of your body was exposed, she outstretched her wand at an unnaturally high pace towards your face and yelled.

"SHALF"

A blinding light emu sting from the tip of the wand flashed, completely lighting up even the lit area around the both of you.

However, through that light, your hand reached out and grabbed her wand.

"Ho"-

You didn't let her finish her rant, and instead, with a great amount of force, swung the wand over your head, letting go of it as its momentum reached its apex.

Zatanna however, refused to let go of her wand, and instead got thrown with it.

Landing in a crouched position, she skidded across the shiny floor a little as she slowed down.

"Y'know from what I've been told about you you aren't the type of guy to hide a hidden card up your sleeve"

You began to walk through the remnants of the light, finally coming into view for the magician.

"You gotta get to know me a little better yourself before you make a judgement like that. Besides, Static pulled the same trick a little while back and something like that is now on my radar of "Don't get hit by this" list"

However, Zatanna ignored your comment about Static.

"An invitation? Hmmmmm............I'll consider it, if you turn yourself in'' she had visible puppy dog eyes as she said that, and you were sure magic was involved in that aspect.

"And here I thought a little forbidden righteous hero and misunderstood romance could take place" you spoke in a mocking tone, sighing as you did so.

You cracked your shoulder, and prepared to engage in another exchange.

Zatanna, instead of focusing on you, had a small look of panic on her face before she spoke. "Meti derots nommus"

Between her index and middle finger, 2 small, black circular objects appeared in between them, and she quickly put one in each ear.

"You're good!"

Her scream echoed throughout the empty room, but it was quickly drowned out by something out.

How would one describe such a sound?

Before you heard it, you initially heard the sound of glass breaking, which was caused by a human-like figure being flung through the glass walls on the second floor, one's that protected the more important guests in case one were about to fall.

That figure plopped onto the ground beside you, but you were too preoccupied to notice.

That was because you felt it.

You had already covered your ears when you saw Zatanna of all people do it, but that didn't prepare you for what came next.

It was as if a sound- no, a frequency too high for a human to endure had entered your ears. Combined with that, a deafening screech accompanying it.

You could visibly see the shockwave the yell caused, multiple layers of sound all being pushed forward.

You didn't know when, but the screaming had stopped, yet all you could hear was an enormous ringing in your ear, one that drowned out anything else you may have heard.

But in just a few seconds, the ringing faded away.

You uncovered your ears, only to see a bit of blood prevalently dripping down your hand. It was only a drop, but it still didn't ease the worry nor pain you were feeling.

Because you were pretty sure you had figured out who Zatanna's friend was.

"Oooooooooooooowowowowowowow"

A low groan beside you caused your attention to shift, and a face down Static with many glass shards scattered around was laying on the floor.

You looked at him, and he turned his face to meet yours.

"Sup"

"Sup"

"You're not gonna ask why I'm like this?"

"I'm presuming you got your ass kicked"

"Been through worse, what took you so long?"

"Got distracted. Did you know that dolphins sleep with one eye open?"

"Well aren't you great at changing the subject"

Static grunted out that last remark, while you outstretched one of your hands.

He took it wincingly, using your limb to get back to his feet.

You noticed his injuries.

Multiple bruises on his face, as well as a bunch of small cut marks, presumably form the glass. The edges of his clothes seemed to be torn, while a few spots near the centre seemed worn out. He seemed to be shifting his weight a little, probably because of the fact his leg hadn't healed all the way combined with it looks like he got hit there.

At least his mask was still on.

"Hello there boys"

You noticed a shadow on the ground was moving, and it seemed to be moving.....downwards?

'Oh shi'-

Thinking quickly, you pushed Static out of the way a second before a force came crashing down on top of you. The feeling of being pinned down by something quickly accompanied it.

As you looked up at the perpetrator, you found your earlier suspicions to now be confirmed.

"Having a party without me?"

"Are you sure"

"Yes, although I can't stay in Gotham for long, I want to see Damian and the rest of the Titans"

"Thank you...........I can't comfort him on this......but I know you can. You were always better at this than I was"

"Of course Bruce, you don't have to explain"

"Are you sure you want to leave your home unprotected? I know that his death has caused other parts of the criminal underworld to go out of control, yours included.

"Are you kidding? I should be fine for a while, besides I need to be there for the team. After all, I'm the one who trained them"

'I've always imagined a situation like this happening while I was still in my earth. However, I did not imagine to be struggling to breathe and being used as blackmail material in the process. What a world'

You were pinned down to the ground by the Hero, one of your arms crossed over your neck and held there by the Hero while she pinned your other one with her knee.

She had fallen directly onto your ribs, which wasn't helping the whole healing situation.

"You surrender, and he doesn't live the rest of his life unable to hear the tweeting of birds in the morning"

Canary's head was facing Static, making it very clear what the implications of not surrendering would be.

"Or, we could drag this out till reinforcements come"

Zatanna coyly sent another reminder through both you and Static, which didn't help the stress that the former? Hero was feeling.

"Tick tock~"

She waved her wand back and forth as she spoke, a purple glow from her wand getting brighter by the second, while Canary seemed to be preparing another scream.

Static had a panicked look on his face, and through him turning his head to look at both his opponents multiple times, he found you.

Your eyes were different. They were full of conviction, a look of pure determination.

And were glowing.......green?

Static ignored that last detail for now, and instead understood what you were implying.

"Godamnit"

He sighed, before looking at the magician in front of him.

"Let's lighten up the mood a little why don't we?"

With one of his hands, Static sent a blast of electricity Canary's way, before simultaneously sending a continuous ray of the same power to Zatanna, who had a wave of purple in the shape of a force field blocking the attack.

On instinct, Canary jumped off you, avoiding the blast.

Which allowed it to directly hit you.

"Are you insane Static!"

Canary yelled, almost breaking into her Cry in the process, a look of genuine shock and confusion on her face.

"What the hell happened to you! You knew I would have avoided it and yet you still"-

"Exactly"

Static's calm, completely level voice took the Hero off guard. She watched as he turned his full attention to her friend.

'Did he forget I'm still here? Why would he.....unless'-

Her eyes widened as she dropped to the ground back first, avoiding a kick from you that would've definitely hurt.

Then, in one smooth motion, the second she hit the floor she kicked back up, spinning her body around while simultaneously performing a leg sweep.

As your legs were sent out from under you, you caught yourself from falling halfway down by using your hand to push off the ground, flipping back onto your feet.

You immediately caught a kick aimed to your already injured side, trapping it. But instead of throwing another strike Canary jumped up and wrapped her leg around you before pulling back, flipping you over onto your back.

Before you had realised it she had her knee on your neck, with her other leg wrapped around it while she was intensely stretching your arm out.

It goes without saying, such a submission is extremely painful.

'She'll dislocate my shoulder at this rate.

Wait'

Twisting your neck and shoulder slightly, both you and Canary felt a pop.

Using this chance as you were no longer bound to the move, you shifted your body so that she was no longer putting pressure on your neck with her knee before escaping the move.

As Canary got back to her feet she dodged a punch with your single good arm, before receiving a kick to her gut that she didn't see, and was sent skidding backwards.

"Well aren't you rough on the ground"

"You dislocated your own shoulder and that's all you have to say?"

"Technically, you dislocated my shoulder. I'm gonna need some compensation for that"

"Fair enough, how about I do the same to other one so it's even"

"Sadist's, all of you ARE SADIST'S I SAY"

You painfully popped your shoulder back into its socket, wincing a lot as you did so. At least it wasn't the same shoulder from when you got rammed into by that car.

'I don't know how we're gonna get out this'

You could see flashes of blue and purple in the background behind Canary.

'Static's keeping Zatanna busy, and I got Canary, but I'm not sure how long we can last with our injuries. Plus they have reinforcements so they don't even need to really beat us, just hold us off long enough for backup to arrive'

This situation was, of course, not ideal.

'I need to think of a plan, some way for us to take out both of them at once'

Another flash of blue in the distance sparked a thought in your head.

'That's it'

You turned your attention back to your combatant instead of the space behind Canary, who had her arms crossed over her chest and was looking at you with a slightly annoyed face.

"Are you just gonna stare or....?"

"Eh?"

"Listen I'm flattered, but I'm going to have to cave your face in, so I suggest you focus on the fight, last warning"

"You misunderstand I was just"-

You moved your head to the side, avoiding a punch before grabbing her still extended hand and twisting your body, flipping her over your shoulder in the process.

As the Hero landed on her back, she used her free hand to kick her legs up, kicking your face with the non sharp part of her heels.

This in turn caused you to let go of her arm, which meant the bird was no longer trapped.

You just managed to catch a spin kick with your hand grabbing her boot, before she used your grip to hop up and trap her other leg around your neck, upon which she pulled her body downwards, once again putting you in the same position as before.

This time however, you used the momentum that caused you end up on your back to keep you from staying on it, and you found yourself with your legs planted firmly in the ground while your upper body was being forced downwards by an armbar, with two legs wrapped around your neck to rope you in, which was of course being performed by Canary.

"T-Technically fuck this hurts I'm on top now"

With an amused expression on her face, Canary began to yank even harder.

In tune, using quite a bit of your strength you managed to lift Canary off the ground, before slamming her back down with a POWERBOMB.

The ground around the move cracked a little form the impact, and being extremely winded from the attack Canary let go of her hold.

Because of the nature of the hold she had you in, instead of hitting head first from the move her back absorbed the impact, which left her with one less injury than you had hoped for.

Using this chance, you tried to move away but found that you couldn't move your leg.

Looking down, two black, cuffed heels were wrapped around your foot, a firm hold at that.

A look of pure emotional agony appeared on your face, before you slowly turned your head to look at the very much still winded, but still persistent Canary.

"Aw shizzlesticks"

No context.

Dear mother of god it is DIFFICULT to write different fighting styles like grappling and submissions, since those and counters are what Canary excels at, and I wanted to be accurate. Anyways hope you enjoyed.

Also so close to back on schedule. 9 DAYS, JUST TWO OFF.
