"Or should I say, the Stroker?"

You felt your hand that held her own begin to ache as she applied pressure to her grip.

'Right. Enhanced physical abilities'
Even in your mind you spoke with a strained voice.

"Don't call me that"
"What's the matter? Why don't we reminisce about our first, fateful encounter?"
"Why would I want to reminisce on that?"
"Oh stop. Just thinking about it will make me blush- fuck that hurts can you loosen your grip a bit?"

Although Rose was dressed differently to match the event, you could still tell it was her on a closer inspection.

She was wearing a sleeved blood red dress that suited her quite well. As well as a mask that resembled a cat, the eyehole where her eyepatch normally was was filled in to match the mask. Which allowed for her missing eye to go unnoticed.

"I stabbed you with a sword when we first met"
"But that was pretty hot wasn't it?"
"Are you into that?"
"Of course not"
"That doesn't make any sense then"
"Are you trying to figure out my kinks? Give me a sec to think about what I'm into"

She looked at you completely, and utterly confused. It reminded you of a similar look she made back then.

"I think I wouldn't mind someone with white hair, a badass eyepatch, and a hot bod"
"Last time you started talking like this, you head-butted the fuck out of me. You're not going to weasel your way out of this one Y/N. I know you"
"Well we could get to know each other even better after this party don't you agre"-

Her hand which rested on your shoulder was now holding a knife, curtesy of sliding it out from under her sleeve.

She attempt a stab but you jerked your body out of the way, causing her to fall forward. Immediately you pulled her outstretched arm so the both of you were back in position, timing it with the music to just make it look like an eccentric dance move.

"Did you just try to stab me while we were dancing?"
"Didn't you say being stabbed was pretty hot?"
"It was a bluff and you know that"

The knife that was in her hand was gone. It seemed she managed to hide it back into her sleeve before you pulled her in.

"Alright I'll stop with the talk. Why did you bring me to a dance floor? It couldn't have been because you wanted to dance with me, but if that was the reason I'll be more than happy to"-
"Static. Where's Static"

It felt like you were hit with a mental truck. When she spoke those words you get a feeling of genuine concern, becoming more cautious as you stared at her.

"He didn't come with me"
"Don't give me that bullshit. Where. Is. He."

This was the one thing you wanted to avoid had you met the Titans.

Them and Static interacting.

You were well aware how tropes worked, as well as how certain tropes seemed to be reality in this world.

So what about that trope where a trusted friend goes off the deep end for a bit, joins the "enemy", but is ultimately convinced to join the "good" guys again and beat the "bad" guys.
That was a trope that had a very real chance of happening.

Static seemed determined to keep to his decision to join you and fix Gotham, but if confronted by those he viewed as family, people he hasn't seen since the initial betrayal, how would he react?

You didn't know. You didn't want to find out either. Static knew where you were based at as well as being your little group's powerhouse. Losing him would mean you didn't have to save Gotham yes, but it also meant you'd have nowhere to hide should he decide to go back.

"I already told you, he isn't here"
"Last time I saw him I got blasted and then he carried your half-dead body off. He was with you at the Museum, and you wouldn't risk coming here alone. So he's with you"

'How do I get away from her? If I just run off she'll fake a scene, the other Titans must be here so it won't matter if she gets unnecessary attention to herself, but it's just me and Static so I can't risk that'
'Think think think. What do I do when faced with questions that'll affect my life? Change the subject!'

"So if your goal was to get Static's location from me, then why'd you try to kill me?"
"What?"

'Good. They aren't connected to whoever that woman was, I can use this'

"Right before you dragged me away someone threw a kunai at godamn head. I would've never expected something like that from the Titans"
"It wasn't us"
"Really? Right before you dragged me away so I couldn't think about that person's identity too? Coincidences like that aren't usually coincidences"

Ravager, or Rose looked at you with a slightly ticked off face, before she shook her head.

"Fine. It'll be beneficial for us both to figure out who else is at this auction. You get any of their facial features?"
"Yep. Female, Asian ethnicity, short black hair, almost greyish eyes, small but built, an assassin by the way she moved. Ring any bells ye"-
"Are you telling the truth?"

You once again focused on Rose. Her expression was one of shock, but also suspicion.

"What?"
"Are you fucking with me or are you being completely honest"

"Honest"

Rose looked down, a conflict visible in her eyes, before she looked back up at you.

"So who is she?"
"I can't tell you that"
"Why"
"It's personal. I'll consider it if you tell me where Static is"
"No deal"
"Well, then I guess there's only one thing left to do now"
"Make out?"
"I prefer, this"

She lifted her heel up, and while it was slightly off the ground light seemed to reflect off the bottom of it.

Instantly, you moved your foot out of the way, causing her heel to lightly touch the ground, the shining object retracting back into the heel.

"You put a retractable blade in your shoe?!"
"You have one literally inside your hand don't you? No complaining"

The music began to pick up slightly faster as you both continued to move erratically, for some reason each of your movements following the flow of the song. With you mainly dodging the knife that threatened to impale your foot.

You saw her begin to move the sleeved arm that held the dagger around weirdly, and attempted to jerk your body out of the way the same way you had before.

It worked, but when she came back into position you realized she still had the dagger out, which meant a second from now you were going to get a stab to some part of your body.

Before she got too close you twirled her, missing the blade by an inch.
During said twirl, you reached into your pocket and pulled out the kunai that you managed to catch, and slipped it into your own sleeve.

You pulled her back in, moving your body to the side and allowing her back to rest on your arm as she leaned her entire body on it, her face looking up at the ceiling or more specifically, you.

Before you could withdraw the weapon you slipped into your sleeve and stab her in the back with that same hand she was resting on, she continued with her momentum, flipping backwards over your arm and using it as some sort of gymnastic pole.

You both found yourself back in the same position.

"I thought you said you didn't know how to dance"
"Impressed?"
"Impressed that you somehow aren't on the ground and bleeding out? Yes, yes I am"

You both continued to move, each of you somehow managing to avoid fatal injuries while to the outside everyone watching was star-struck by the fluid way you two danced.

Rose seemed to throw some caution to the wind and lunged in for a stab, faking a trip to mask the action.

You quickly put your second hand on the other side of her waist, catching her falling figure and twisting your entire body around, lifting her up for a spin in the process.

You set her down without slowing her down at all, causing her body to only stop because of your outstretched arm holding onto hers. With a tug, she spun back into you, perfectly on cue as the song ended.

Both of you were breathing quite heavily as you stared at each other, only stopping when the gentle clapping of a crowd that had formed broke you guys out of your moment.

Rose looked around a bit confused at the audience that clapped in their own rich ways, a few whistles even accompanying them.

When she looked back to where you were after taking everything in, you were gone.

"Damnit. I let him get to me again"

'Is this was Batman feels like? Because slipping away is so much harder than he makes it look. Although I bet I looked pretty cool doing it. But if I looked cool doing it then doesn't that mean I did bad at it since you aren't supposed to be seen at all?'

Useless questions swarmed your head as you continued to walk from a different room to a different room. Or more precisely, going from room to room looking for Static.

You were quite out of breath though. Timing all of your dodges and attacks with the song so that you weren't discovered by the bystanders was much more tiring than you initially thought. Although Rose seemed to do it unconsciously, which in your mind was straight bullshit.

'Who knew being forced to learn how to dance for events like these would actually come in handy'

You shook your head, clearing it of the useless thoughts starting to surface.

'This isn't going to work'

Bringing a finger to your ear, you spoke gently into the small device stationed there so no one else would hear.

"Static, it's Y/N are you there?"
....
....
....
....
....
....
"Yes my good sir I am present"

You were momentarily taken aback by the weird way he talked, before you remembered what you told him.

'Ok now I have a choice. I either tell Static the Titans are here and let him know, or, I don't tell him and hope they don't meet until we get out of here'

'Chances of this event going to shit are high, so if a fight breaks out Static will probably meet them anyway. But would it be worse for me to let him know or him to find out in that case? What if he seeks them out after I tell him? But if I don't and he finds out I didn't tell him, he'll feel betrayed.
Shit'

"Hey Static"
"What is it my fellow companion?"

You stopped yourself from laughing, before you got serious and continued. "The Titans are here, or at least a few of them"

You didn't get a goofy response after you spoke those words. Instead, you just got silence.

"Static?"

You couldn't hear anything from his side of the coms.
"Static"

"I- Uhm- Y-Yes I'm here"
"I'm letting you know this because I trust you, and because I want you to be prepared in case you meet them, understand?"
....
....
....
....
....
"Static!"
"I understand I understand"

After he said that, he didn't speak again.
'Did I make the wrong choice?'

"Stay in a place where it'll be hard for them to see or recognize you. Since they know exactly what you look like since you've spent a lot of time with them 'WHY DID I SAY THAT?!' the mask won't fool them. A crowd or a secluded place would be nice, just try not to be spotted until the auction officially starts alright?"

"Yes"

"You still have that coin right?"

"Yes"

"Good. They'll use that to identify you when the auction starts, we'll meet up in the VIP section at that time"

"Yes"

Clicking the small device on your ear, you resisted the urge to bash your head against one of the walls. A habit you developed that takes place when you're either angry or shocked.
This time, you were angry at yourself.

'You dipshit! You probably made him feel even worse. Plus he's only making one word responses so I'll be surprised if what I said even got through to him'

You were hoping that if you told him the truth it would help build up a little more trust between the two of you, as well as help mentally prepare him in case he does meet a member of the Titans.
It seemed that wasn't the actual effect.

As you walked into another room to try to keep as much distance between you and Ravager, you let out a sigh.

Reacting instantly, you caught a second kunai aimed for your chest, pocketing it immediately before any guest noticed.

'What is with women and throwing sharp objects at me?'

You were.....slightly, annoyed at the moment so the fact another weapon had been thrown at you pissed you off to the point where you actively began searching for the assassin.

You thought you caught glimpses of her as you weaved your way through this room's crowd, matching her pace but going a little faster. The back of her head, or more specifically her hair giving her away.

Finally, you caught her trying to blend in at one of the food tables. The light shining off her hair making it's colour seem a little different though.

'Start off with a right hook- no, don't get caught remember. See if you can figure out whether she's just someone here for your bounty or a Charac-....someone you can recognize'

There was still a ginormous bounty on your head curtesy of Amanda Waller, and thankfully you've been hiding for most of the duration so far. Still, it wouldn't be abnormal if the person after you right now wasn't with a group and was just a bounty hunter.

You placed a hand on the woman's shoulder, causing her to turn around and-
Instead of the assassin you came face to face with Raven.

...........
...........

"Hey"
"Hey"

You both just stared at each other silently. Whether it was from shock or confusion, the both of you just remained stone-faced. It was pretty awkward.

"Sooooooooooo........."
"Sooooooooooo?"

She imitated you in a more monotone voice, or her normal voice technically? Whatever it was, it sounded familiar.

"You come here often?"
"You kiss other people's friends often?"

You internally flinched. 'Oh yeah, I did do that didn't I?'

"Just the good looking ones. Not that you're not good looking"
"I'm flattered, but I'm not pretty"

Her continuous lifeless voice made you do a double take. It reminded you of someone.

"And I'm not hot. See I can play this game too"
"I'm not, now tell me where St"-
"Stop denying it"

'Ok so, it may be low to use Raven's insecurities in order to avoid her asking about Static, but I really don't want to deal with a magic user after Zatanna. That's right, I'm completely morally justified in this. 100%'

You internally nodded to yourself, convincing yourself that you were not in the wrong whatsoever.

"Can we stop getting off sub"-
"Why?"
"What?"
"Why don't you think you're pretty?"
"Because I'm just not"
"That's not an answer"

"I don't remember agreeing to being asked a question"
"That's just another way of dodging one"
"I don't have time for"-
"If you answer me, then I'll answer you"

She stared at you, her features slightly different enough from her resting face that you could pick up she was ticked off. Then, she composed yourself.

"Why do you want to know?"
"Answer my question and I'll answer yours"
"Fine"

Now that you were on some shaky but somewhat stable ground, you noticed that fittingly her mask had black feathers on the end of it, suiting her name.
Although you were mainly trying to find a way to bullshit out of the current situation, you had to admit she looked genuinely pretty in her current outfit.

"Just because you're evil on the inside, doesn't mean you can't be pretty on the outside. That's what comes to mind when someone calls me pretty. It feels like when someone says that they're acknowledging that I'm wearing a mask. That I may look this way but it's the complete opposite of who I truly am. So I don't want to believe I'm pretty, or I don't acknowledge that I'm pretty, because then it feels like I myself am acknowledging that mask. I don't want to..........anyways your turn"

You stared at her for a few seconds. Your look was unreadable, so much so that the girl in front of you looked down as she waited for a response.

Finally, you spoke. "So you believe you're the opposite on the inside?"
"Yes" she responded, still not maintaining eye contact.
"That's not true"
"You don't even know m"-
"I do. I know you wouldn't understand but I do know you. And from what I know, how you look on the outside doesn't shine nearly half as bright as what shines on the inside"
"That's not"-
"I don't expect you to believe me, but I want you
to think about what today defines you as a person more, your birthright or the actions you've taken to prove that you're different from your birthright"
"How do you.............where'd he go?"

Raven, who had her eyes focused on the ground as she listened to you, turned her face back up to meet yours. Only, now, you were gone.

The Hero scanned the room, a little more quickly than she would've normally and half walked have speed-walked off into the crowd with an antsy expression on her face. Presumably, to search for you.

You on the other hand, slowly peeked your head over the dessert table, looking around to see that she was finally gone.

"I'm getting the hang of this disappearing thing..............should I help her control her powers?"
'WOAH WOAH calm down there buddy!"

You said it before your brain could process it. Sure you were sympathetic to her, maybe a little too much because of who she reminded you of, but the only way you could do something as drastic as that would be if you got caught and somehow didn't end up in Waller's grasp. The chances of that were, let's just say, quite low.

'But since she's still doubting herself, she must be in that phase where she isn't in full control of her powers. She needs someone to give her a push so she sees that she isn't just a monster. Where's BeastBoy when you need him-...........huh..........where is BeastBoy?'

You thought back to when the Titans first showed up in that stadium. He wasn't there, even though he was  one of the core figures when it came to the Titans.

'Does he not exist in this world? No, if that were the case why would others like Static who isn't a common member of the Titans exist in the team, and specifically not him'-

'Stay focused Y/N! The auction should start soon so I just have to hide a little longer. Don't get lost in your thoughts again'

You really needed to break this habit of letting your mind wander off. It was getting worse.

Then, at that moment, one of the butlers walked into the room, clinking a glass cup with a small metal object.

This got the attention of the crowd, who stopped chattering and turned their full attention to the man.

"The event will properly start within the next 15 minutes. I shall escort you all to the room where the auction will be taking place. Please follow me"

I don't know why, but I was struck with the idea of you dancing with someone, then I just said "Screw it lets get you in a ballroom" then the auction thing came from there. As you can see, my creative genius
and planning knows no bounds.
