You slowly exhaled, your breath leaving your body as an unstable aura formed around you.

All the aching from your ribs stopped. The sharp, cold yet warm throbbing from your knifed hand stopped as well. The migraine that had formed in your head ceased. The ache in your shoulder disappeared.

There was only you.

'Go'

You flipped, jumping over the barrage of purple highlighted cards that would've hit you directly in the mid-section.

Spinning mid-air, when you landed you were met with a spinning kick from Canary aimed at your ribs.

You caught it with one hand, before stabbing her in the ankle with the knife exposed on the back of your other hand.

Canary flinched before letting out a smaller version of her Cry, which caused even more blood to run down your ears.

It didn't affect you.

Right before you were about to break the caught limb you suddenly pushed Canary away, using her foot as a launching pad to push backwards, avoiding a blast of purple that would've hit you directly.

The end of Zatanna's wand was glowing purple, and as she moved her other hand another swarm of cards made its way towards you.

Instead of running away, you began to run towards her.

You jumped, landing into a roll after the first card, only to break into a slide under the next one, before getting back to your feet and sidestepping the next card all in one fluid motion.

You ducked your head back, one of the projectiles barely missing your H/C hair, before crouching your body low and spinning around, ducking another one.

You were getting closer. You continued to duck, spin, weave, and flip your way through the almost never ending barrage of playing cards, which Zatanna refused to stop throwing at you.

Suddenly, in a burst of speed, you sidestepped the barrage and within a second were right in front of Zatanna.

She moved back in shock, preparing for an attack but instead you caught one the cards she shot out by instinct with your middle and index finger before spinning, and throwing it at a charging Canary that was right behind you.

As the card neared Canary and Zatanna was backing away, the magician flicked one of her fingers upwards

The card responded in turn, barely missing the Hero, although the only thing Canary could see as the card turned upwards and out of view was your fist.

You delivered a punch directly to her check, causing her to drop to one knee as she reeled back from the strike.

You didn't waste this chance and gripped her head on either side and pulled her face into your knee, which definitely left a mark.

You then lifted your knife-attached hand and prepared to stab the Hero, when you felt something pierce your back, and begrudgingly moved out of the way of multiple more playing cards.

It appeared your reaction time was dull.

You could feel the impaled card that was half sticking out of you, and only felt rage.

'I should kill them. Definitely shouldn't try that. They can't take me in if they're dead. If Canary dies then chances of Zatanna doing something drastic to end my life are probable. And if Zatanna dies then I doubt Canary wouldn't mind screaming until my brain melts. So I'm stuck. My goals to escape, to get away from here, not kill'

You reached behind you, pulling out the card in your back. Blood took up a quarter of the card. A king of clubs.

You looked at the card for a moment, the small amount of aura surrounding you vanishing.

'Ironic'

For some strange reason, you pocketed the card.

"Now, where were we?"

You spoke, your head turned to the side a little, directing your voice to Canary who was in the air about to deliver a kick with her not stabbed foot.

You spun, moving your body to the side and extending your arm to once again punch her as she made her way down onto your fist. Or at least, that's what Canary initially thought before she realized the fist coming towards her had a knife extended out the end of it.

However, right before the weapon was about to connect, she forced her legs to move upwards and used the momentum to weave around your arm as if this was a circus act.

Your leg lifted for a kick that was going to be directed at her legs but a blast of purple hit you head on, sending you flying backwards into a ledge.

Or at least it would've had Canary not began to kick the air where the back of your head appeared not even a moment later, probably tripling the effects of the kick as you were spiked into the ground.

The edges of your vision began to go black as you almost superhumanly kicked back up the second your body hit the ground, as if you weren't affected, and delivered a back elbow to the side of her head.

Your body began to seem submerged in killing intent as you spun around, slicing the side of Canary's cheek as she narrowly dodged out of the way, causing a bit of blood to drip down her face.

But as soon as your strike landed you were once again hit with a purple blast, which sent you sprawling at high speeds towards the ledge.

You flipped, landing in a crouched position as you attempted to stop your backwards momentum, but you were too late.

Taking a deep but quick breath in, Canary let out a Cry right before you could fully recover.

Only this Cry was different.

It seemed more destructive, and was so powerful that it sent your body backwards even more, causing it to go colliding into the ground.

But Canary didn't stop. She continued her cry, one so ear piercing that multiple windows of the building below the fight began to shatter.

If her original power could be called a Cry, then this could be called a full on Scream.

The blackness in your vision began to creep in, the ringing in your ears getting to the point where you weren't even sure why was going on anymore.

You didn't feel any pain, but your body was limp. Probably due to the shockwaves of pressure holding you down to the ground.

The only thing you could still see in your line of sight was your limb, knife-brandished hand. The small gleam being the only thing keeping you conscious.

But slowly, even that wasn't enough as Canary refused to stop her Cry, even causing a bit of blood to leak down your nose from the pressure.

Right before you allowed that ever so familiar feeling of darkness to overtake you, a single flash of colour entered your sight.

Red hair fell next to your hand, almost lightly brushing against it.

Your eyes, which were beginning to close, snapped open, your pupils almost frantic as your blurry mind seemed almost forced back to clarity.

"Well, well, well, what do we have here?"

An innocent, almost angelic voice pierced your ears, breaking through the everlasting ringing that had settled in them. Although, you could hear the smugness hidden underneath the voice that others could not.

You couldn't move, nor open your mouth, the shockwaves still holding you down. Or were they? Where were you? Where is she? How-

"Time has stopped for you. Or, I guess I stopped it? Think of it like we're in a personal space in your mind, your thoughts going a million miles per second, and time has in a sense stopped for your real body"

You couldn't talk. The world around you seemed frozen, but despite that you were too.

"What's the matter, not in a chatting mood? I mean I would be too if I hypocritically broke a promise like you just did"

Your eyes, which stared at her hair with confusion in the beginning, were only filled with anger as you attempted to lift your arms off the ground.

You had no luck.

"Although, given the circumstances, I'm pretty sure another "session" can wait. I mean I don't want you to die after all, because if she continues this then I'm not sure how much longer your organs can take it before they pop"

She laughed a little at the end of her sentence.

Her hair hit the ground, seemingly coiling up, before you realized it was because she had decided to lay down on the ground next to you, her face coming into view.

Everything above her mouth was scribbled out in an almost cartoonish manner, but you could still see her expressions clearly.

"Have you still not figured it out?"

You weren't really paying attention to what you were saying. Instead, you were doing everything in your power to try and burst free from the unmeasurable amount of gravity holding you down, and then to wipe that grin off her face.

"Ah-ah-ah"

She wagged her finger in front of her face, her smile growing wider.

"Don't lose control now. Because if you do, then I won't be able to see you suffer anymore"

Her hand gently brushed against your cheek as she lightly held it in her hand.

"I know I'm apart of your mind so I see things you can't, but you should've realized there was something wrong with your body by now? Haven't you felt it? Something.......foreign inside of you?"

You didn't. You had absolutely no idea what she was talking about.

"Although, I guess you wouldn't have known. Your body isn't from this dimension probably, so their effects would be different from what you'd know"

Her other hand's finger went to the bottom of her chin, as if she was contemplating something.

"I may not know how to activate it, but I think I get the logistics of it"

Her full attention turned back to you, as she let out a happy smile.

"What is something you have that will never die? And what is something you cause those that oppose you to feel?"

Something inside you changed.

"Try to make it out of this one in one piece"

And with that, she brought her lips to yours.

And you were brought back to reality.

You immediately spit out whatever saliva was in your mouth onto the ground, your body shaking as Canary's cry began to cause our body to shake once more.

'What do I have that will never die?'

Using all the power that you could, you lifted up your hand.

Before it was abruptly crushed back into the ground.

'What do I have?'

You attempted to lift it up again, before the same result happened.

This time you lifted both your arms in an attempt to push your body up from your face down position, but we're put back down once again.

'What do I have?'

You tried again, this time getting a little farther before ultimately being put down on the ground again.

'What do I have?'

You repeated this process again and again, making it to your knees.

'What do I have?'

Finally, you managed to shakily push yourself onto your feet.

"What do I have?"

And once you did, everything became clear.

Your eyes shone a brilliant green, piercing through the dark setting around you.

"Will"

A small, tiny green hexagon appeared in the air in front of you, before it was shattered by Canary's Cry.

Then, it appeared again, this time with three more all in separate places in the air. Only for those to be shattered too.

7 appeared.

17 appeared.

With each passing second the number grew, until eventually, a few of them connected together.

Instantly, a chain reaction of more and more hexagons fitting together occurred, as they all began to shine even brighter.

A shield.

But, without even thinking, you closed your fist.

The hexagonal shield instantly shattered into thousands of pieces that floated in the sky, causing the Hero's Cry to reach you once more.

You hadn't braced for the impact, and were sent flying backwards once more.

However, the tiny shards of green instantly converged behind you, forming a shield.

Twisting your body, you landed feet first on the shield, before suing it as a launch pad.

With a burst of speed you were sent flying directly over Canary, the shield behind you disintegrating as you did so.

Yet instead of attacking her, you used both her shoulders as a launching pad as you somersaulted off of them and back into the air.

Right in the direction of Zatanna.

Crossing your arms, you tanked another blast of purple, which was quickly followed up by multiple cards digging into your forearms, but you pushed through, landing next to and almost a little behind her.

"Fuck"

Ignoring her words, using your own heel, you kicked backwards and took out Zatanna's feet from under her, causing her to begin to fall back first.

You punched her on the way to speed up the process, and once she hit the ground you grabbed her by her collar and prepared to stab her with your other hand, blood still leaking down it.

For a moment, Zatanna froze as she stared at you. You didn't seem like your normal self, nor did you seem to feel any pain. You didn't seem.....human.

Blood was dripping from your nose in vast amounts, and your eyes kept flashing between E/C and green.

For some reason though, instead of stabbing the magician you shanked her up by her collar that you were still gripping and brought her in front of you.

Zatanna was not ready to receive a kick from Canary.

As the air was knocked out of her lungs you grabbed the one responsible for the attack, Canary, by the neck and began to choke her out with your one hand, while still holding the winded magician in the other.

Canary attempted to let out a Cry, but her vocal cords weren't responding. Hell, she could barely breathe.

But, you knew once she got over the shock a simple choke like this wouldn't be able to hold Canary back.

"STATIC NOW!!!!!"

Your scream, caused the eyes holding an almost holy looking amount of blue to open.

Blue arks flowed across the outside of his entire body, the remaining of clothes floating as they were filled with power.

Stray crooked lines of blue shot out from his form, as if they were unrefined.

But that didn't matter.

One of Static's clenched hands was glowing more than the other, crackles of energy leaking out of it every so often.

You didn't see any of this, as your back was to the former Hero. But Canary could. From her position she saw what looked like a manifestation of power, one that instinctually caused her to return to her calm mind to try to find some way to get out of this.

But it was too late.

Static suddenly appeared behind you, as if a bolt of lighting shot down and brought him there itself. Crackles of blue began to shoot everywhere from the quick movement, the very air around all of you seemed to shake.

Static began to lift up his shining hand, and although slow in the eyes of Canary, it wasn't slow at all.

Then, he outstretched his fist.

A light so bright even you thought you might've gone blind lit up the still mostly night sky, as Static's hand shone a brilliant blue.

Unstable bolts of energy began to shoot out from his palm as Statics hand slowly began to move towards your back.

And as his hand drew nearer, a single memory came to Canary's mind.

Earlier, when Static let out a blast of electricity, even allowing it to hit you to get her off of you. Yet, even after being hit, you were completely unaffected.

'So, if he's unaffected by Static's power and Statics planning on hitting him with it while he's holding us, then doesn't that mean'-

She had figured it out, but there was nothing she could do other than brace herself for the absolute torrent of energy that was going to flow into her body.

As Static's hand approached your back, he finally got a view of your face.

Through the hypnotizing blue and flashy bolts that littered the area around him, he could see your expression.

One of pure malice.

The aura you radiated was familiarly suffocating, as if someone's hands had wrapped around his neck.

The second that very aura hit Static, something changed.

An image came to Static's mind for a second. The feeling- the memory of being exploded through a wall.

The memory of having a finger cracked.

The memory of being sent flying across a room with a single strike.

The memory of another finger cracking.

The memory of standing in front of something not human.

The memory of being sent through walls with just a punch.

The memory of another finger being snapped.

The memory of a figure emerging from the rubble unaffected.

The memory of another finger snapping.

The memory of an arm being cleanly cut off with a sword that shone like the moonlight.

The memory of a black and orange mask with a single glowing red eye watching Static leave.

And that very same mask was all Static could see as he stared at you.

You were standing there, but on your face was a mask of orange and black, the familiar and dreadful feeling of bloodlust emanating from you was nearly as potent as the mercenary himself.

The red in your eye expanded, turning into an aura that seemed to wrap around Static, freezing him in place.

The power in Static's outstretched hand began to disappear as he froze in fear, the magnificent blue light turning dull and fading.

Gripping your wrist and part of your arm below your elbow, she used the fact you were choking her to her advantage and swung her knee up directly into your outstretched elbow.

Because she was holding the rest of your arm in place, an audible crack could be heard as your limb went limp, your flickering green eyes going back to normal right after.

She fell to the ground, throwing your body away as Zatanna from her position on the ground hit Static with a blast of purple that also sent him flying in your direction.

"4 more seconds!"

Zatanna yelled out to Canary, before the person in question stood in front of her defiantly.

She opened her mouth to presumably let out another Cry, but she found she was unable to.

Still, that didn't matter as the edges of one of Zatanna's hands began to shine purple.

Both you and Static had just barely managed to force yourselves to your feet, when you saw the magician reach her hand out in your direction.

A circle of purple appears below you, and then Static, corresponding with Zatanna's now shining hand.

Rays of light began to surge upwards from the shape, engulfing you in its brightness.

A wave of energy unlike anything you ever felt before began to overwhelm you, causing your eyes to widen as sensations unlike anything you've experienced fill your body.

But you felt your body reject the light.

Then, those sensations vanished.

The shining light that had enveloped you disappeared into nothingness.

An empty silence filled the rooftop. One that was only broken when you looked at Zatanna.

Her hand, which was radiating with light, had dimmed.

Her face was one of shock, and a black liquid began to leak from her nose as she stared at you.

She began to shake, her eyes rolling into the back of her head as she collapsed onto the floor.

Canary immediately kneeled next to her friend, panic visible on her face as she tried to see what was wrong.

Static knew this was your guys' only chance. Without even thinking he jumped, pulling his Saucer towards himself and landing on it mid-air.

He flew by you and grabbed you, before beginning to fly off, your guys' speed not even being close to high.

Canary noticed this, and once again tried to let out a Cry. But her vocal cords from that long attack from earlier had completely stopped working.

She couldn't leave her friend behind to chase after you guys either, because from the looks of things she was spasming out.

She looked at your guys
