The next few hours had you resisting a panic attack. Nothing had happened after you had arrived besides sitting in this new room but that didn't mean you were comfortable. You were thinking about why you were here. It didn't really make sense to you. That was until your panic died down into anxiety(A.K.A. your constant state of being) and you realized. He didn't want me. I didn't behave. I wasn't good. It's my fault. I should've behaved.

*knock knock*

Ms.Daniels slowly opened the door and peered in.

"How are you settling in??" She asked gently.

"Fine," you said with a nod.

"Good. If you need anything please let us know. And if you're hungry dinner is done"

Another stiff nod.

"You don't have to come eat right now. You can come down later. We'll save some for you," she said.

"Thank you"

She smiled at you and nodded before leaving and closing the door again.

That night you didn't sleep so much as you curled up in the corner of the room and pretended to. You sat in nothingness, your thoughts just resting. Everything was still. Not calm. But still. It was a nice break. You had a wonderful corner where you could see the entire room and still be somewhat closed in; and a wonderful window that let you look out into the neighbor's yard. (the last part was sarcasm)

The next morning Ms. Daniels knocked again. (pestering adults how dare they wake you from your not-sleep!)

"Good morning! It's nice to see you're up early. Why don't you go freshen up then come down for breakfast?" she asked.

You nodded.

"Great! The bathroom is down the hall" she said as she turned out the door and pointed to the last door on the left of the hall.

"We'd appreciate it if you didn't go into the other rooms." She said looking back to you.

You nodded "yes ma'am"

"Oh you don't have to call me ma'am," She said. "Lily will do just fine"

You nodded.

"Great, let me know if you need anything else. The towels are in the cupboards if you want to take a shower. And you can use whatever shampoo or conditioner you want" She said cheerily.

"Thank you," You said quietly.

Once she left you made your way to the bathroom with your backpack.

(with Lily and Jacob Daniels)

"She's so quiet Jacob," Lily said concernedly.

"Relax babe, she's probably just nervous" Jacob reasoned.

"But what if she doesn't like us?"

"She might not for a while. She's just been introduced to a whole new environment with new people. She's going to take a moment to adjust" Jacob soothed.

"Right and who knows how long she's been in foster care" She confirmed.

"Right" He agreed and gave his wife a kiss before setting the table.

When you walked downstairs they were already seated, drinking, and talking about something. When they noticed you they stopped their conversation and smiled invitingly.

"Good morning!" They greeted.

"There's a plate for you on the stovetop," Lily said.

You took the plate and cautiously made your way to the table.

"Here," Jacob pulled out your chair.

"Thank you," you said as you sat down.

"You're very welcome," He said.

You were startled when he suddenly leaned your direction, causing you to flinch.

"Sorry I was just passing you some silverware" he apologized.

You didn't respond and it was awkwardly quiet for a moment.

"You're a quiet one huh?" he asked.

"Y-yes"

More awkward silence

"Did you find everything in the bathroom okay?"Lily asked

"Yes Thank you" you replied

"You don't have to keep thanking us hon," Jacob replied.
