Your mind drifted over the days that you couldn't go into school, too broken and bloodied to move. And over the nights where your mom never came home, leaving you with her boyfriends or just the company of a long list of chores. Those were your favorite days -though you hated them all the same-. Alone there was no pain. Alone there was no noise, just the static of your empty mind as you completed each task on the list, trying to feel accomplished with each one but knowing that it'd never be satisfactory and you'd do it all again next week.

But they were all just days to you. Just days with different tasks and different deadlines. This is why you liked your book. Sure it was missing many pages- but there was a story with a beginning and an end (though it was never really clear how the two met). An escape from the pain of beatings or the static of silence. An escape to a different world with different rules.

The knock at the door drew you from your thoughts.

"Hello, want some breakfast?" Lucifer asked as he peeked his head in.

You didn't respond but got up and followed him out of the room and to the kitchen.

"Truthfully I didn't expect you to be awake. How did you sleep?"

You shrugged and he handed you a plate of food. He watched as you picked at your food, rolling it around your plate as you thought.

"Are you not hungry??" he asked.

You met his gaze quickly before glancing away and shaking your head.

"Alright." he sighed.

After a moment of silence, Lucifer checked his watch, glanced at his phone then went over to his piano.

"Can you play??" he asked as he sat.

"Only the first 5 keys right of middle C" you responded

"I could teach you?" he offered.

He saw your eyes light up. (He also saw you stop yourself from jumping). He smiled. You loved music, and any time you had during school you would run to the band room and try to teach yourself to read the sheet music. But as soon as happiness sparked you snuffed it out.

"N-no i-it's okay," you said.

*Lucifer's P.O.V.*

What??

"It's no problem I assure you," I said as I gestured to the bench.

She clearly wanted to take me up on my offer but she just looked away.

"It would be nice to have somebody to play with and don't you get tired of reading your book," I said hoping she would join me.

She glanced back at me then stuttered out an 'okay' before walking over to the piano.

"Well come on then" I encouraged.

She took the spot next to me and I began to teach her how to read notes.

(Time skip to around 9 am)

She had just gotten the hang of everything's coming up when the elevator rang.

"Lucifer you- *GASP*"

A/N

I know it's short but I'm having some problems with writing. I just have to fill in diolaug parts because I dont want the story to just be one event after another or just an intro then climax.

Anyway I really liked how he sings this and so this is the song he teaches the reader.

So I hope you're having a wonderful day/evening/night.
