Radhika's pov

I followed Anya's directions and reached Rishabh's cabin. I looked around and saw people working with sincerity. It was impressive. I read Rishabh's name out loud feeling proud of myself for getting the job.

I finally knocked but got no response in return. The next time I knocked harder and got a grumpy response in return. I didn't wait for him to further acknowledge me as I entered the room on his groan.

I stood at the entrance afraid to move without any further instructions. His back was facing me as he was reading a file or something. I couldn't make out of anything from where I was standing but I was feeling anxious just standing there.

"Can I come in?" I asked in a very low but polite tone.

He didn't turn for another one minute and I held my breath in anticipation. I had no idea why I was so nervous all of a sudden, I had already gotten the job and I had a great interview with the HR team but meeting the boss was just flipping my stomach.

I cleared my throat which got his attention and he finally turned. He was nothing like I remembered. His boyish charm was replaced by a handsome rugged look. He had stress lines visible but it didn't make him look any less gorgeous. He had a frown on his face when there used to be a smile. He wasn't the boy I used to know, he looked like a man who's gone through life. He had a sadness in his eyes which felt a little weird to me. I didn't like it.

"What do you want?" He asked in his now deep tone.

"I am Radhika Vashishta" I walked up to him and gave him my file "I'm supposed to be working with you."

He looked at me and then at my file. His eyes were roaming on my file reading all about me. His eyes showed a little surprise for a second but then returned to normal.

"What am I expected to do?" I asked politely

"If you don't know what you have to do You shouldn't be here."

I just looked at him dumbfounded, not knowing how I'm supposed to reply to this. I wanted to say something but I felt I shouldn't jeopardize my career and everything I've worked for in the first hour of my job. It is a great job with great pay and I plan on keeping it.

He looked up again. He stared at me annoyed with my presence. I sighed and retraced my steps to leave when he spoke "Get me coffee. Black with one cube of sugar."

I wanted to tell him that I'm not his secretary but couldn't find the courage to do so. I'm supposed to be learning and working with him, not fetch his coffee. I bite my tongue and nod to his order.

As soon as I walked out I realized that I am new and I had no idea where the kitchen is. I wanted to ask but everyone was so busy that no one seems to pay any attention to a clueless girl. As I was walking towards Anya for help I bumped into someone.

"I'm so sorry. I am sorry" He apologized.

"That's fine. I'm not hurt"

He gave me a polite smile "I haven't seen you here before. Are you new?"

"Uh. Yeah. It's my first day. I'm really confused, could you help me with something?"

"Yeah sure. What is it?"

"Could you tell me where is the coffee machine? Boss wants coffee."

"The machine is out of order so you have to get down and get the coffee from the nearest coffee shop"

"Oh! Super." I said sarcastically. I quickly thanked him and left to get grumpy his coffee.

On my way, I kept convincing myself with various reasons about how much I needed this job and how I should just hang in there. It was still hard for me to believe he was the same guy I knew from school. He is so cold and scary. I don't remember him being scary.

"Coffee" I kept it on his table and stood there waiting for a thank you but I knew I wasn't gonna get one.

"Wait outside until I call you"

I wanted to ask more questions. His statement was so vague and non-productive that bothered me. I was so excited to work, but now I feel desperate to work. I just want him to speak more than two words and give me some real work.

I kept walking slowly towards the door hoping he would remember something or ask me to work but he didn't and I had to leave and wait.
