Chapter Thirteen: Anxious and drugged

RAY’S POV

It was the night before the wedding. We had the dress hidden sagely so Andy or the other guys couldn’t sneak a peak. They had all been banned from our area of the house until a few hours before the ceremony. We couldn’t exactly chase them out of the house given the current circumstances. The threatening letters hadn’t stopped at all either.

Kita and Crys had decided to stay in my room tonight as my protection detail being as they still weren’t too fond of Tanya and her and Trevor were in the middle of a fight because of how badly these letters were spooking her. Crys was fine as long as she got to stay with me and Kita because she had one of her “bad feelings” about tonight.

Tanya though, never one to rain on a parade, insisted we all had cocktails together before heading off to bed. I noticed she had made mine and hers virgins and when no one was looking or within earshot, I sidled up to her and called her on it. “You’re usually the first one pouring the shots Tan and tonight you’re not drinking? Is there something going on?”

She blushed a deep crimson and looked down. “I, uh, missed a period. I’m going to the doctor after the wedding to have things confirmed but yeah, it looks like I may be pregnant too.” I still wasn’t sure if I liked or trusted Tanya but I hugged her and congratulated her nonetheless and respected her wishes to keep quiet until such time the pregnancy was confirmed.

Nick came in and broke the awkward silence. “Tanya, these cocktails are lethal! This is some really good shit. I’ve had two and I feel like I’m ready to pass out!” Everyone agreed with Nick and soon, Tanya and I were chasing stumbling drunks to their rooms.

Andy stumbled over to me and slurred out: “I’m guarding your door tonight.” Before I could protest he sushed me with a finger on my lip. “I know, I know, no peeking! Superstitions and shit. I just need to keep you safe.” We said our goodnights and I climbed in the bed between my two best friends who were already passed out completely. In that moment I felt safe and loved.

Life couldn’t be more perfect than it was right now. I was surrounded by the love of my life, my family and two new bundles of joy including mine and Tanya’s babies. It was strange how everyone was so fast asleep; I thought they would all be too excited to sleep but then again the pre-wedding jitters were notorious for doing weird things. I curled up into my Kita and Crys and soon, I too was in a deep slumber.

TANYA’S POV

I  knew I was pregnant. I had already done one of those home pregnancy tests.  Didn’t really care about being pregnant and would have  had a drink or two but I had spiked the vodka for the cocktails ensuring that no one would wake up during the night. I hadn’t counted on Ray noticing but she was smarter than what she looked too,

As soon as snores echoed through the house, I slowly climbed out of bed being extra cautious so as not to stir him awake and grabbed my black gloves, balaclava and black fatigues a rope and set out to end this game.

I snuck stealthily down the passage to where Andy was slumped against Raymeera’s door. I had given him and Nick extra strong doses so I was certain they wouldn’t come to and scream for help. He didn’t budge or even rouse at all. This was going even better than I had initially planned. Now it was Raymeera, or should I say Maria’s, chance to suffer.

When Maria had left, Kyle had turned to me for support and I had begun to care for him deeply. When he said he was coming to America to face Maria for “closure,” I wasn’t happy about it at all and I knew there was a lot more to it than just closure. When the story broke on CNN, I wasn’t even surprised. Upset, but I wasn’t surprised. I had seen it coming.

The best way to make Raymeera feel my pain was to put her through the same thing. I took the rope I had bought with me and tied it firmly around Andrew James’s neck and tied the other end to the railing of the staircase. The best way to kill these bastards and get away with it was to make it look like suicide. Poor Andy couldn’t go through with the wedding and didn’t have the heart to break it to Ray so he killed himself. Nick found his friend dead and decided suicide was also the best option. I whispered quietly in Andy’s ear, “Bye Bye Bitch,” and threw his body over the railing watching him choke to death.

My next stop was Nick’s room. He was so heavily drugged and his arms were limp enough to be moved at will. I double checked that the silencer on the gun I had was on, placed it in his hand and moved the barrel to his mouth. A dull thud echoed silently as brain tissue splattered everywhere.

My last act of the night was to bag everything I had used to conceal my identity. All the gloves and balaclava and clothing were placed in a bag with a heavy rock in it and I took a jog to the nearest lake. I threw the bag in and it sank immediately.

I had just gotten away with the perfect crime of revenge.
