you sat on the swings on the playground, too numb to feel anything but also too hurt to feel nothing.

after a few minutes, your head was piled up with snow. it was cold because you only had your scarf with your winter uniform, but at least the snow kept you company.

with tears silently streaming down your cheeks, you almost fell asleep on the swing. your half-lidded and teary eyes could only make out the blurry silhouette of the people passing by.

"you'll catch a cold."

someone blocked the light of the street lamp, their shadow towering over your hunched up figure. you looked up, only to see that one gentle, comforting person.

keeping quiet, you felt him wrap his jacket around your back gently as he sat on the swings beside you quietly.

"i'm guessing you've been in the snow for a bit too long now. you didn't even wear proper winter clothes." he quietly stated, keeping you company. "what's wrong?"

with your head bowed, he couldn't see your tears. but he could sense that you were really sad.

you choked out a soft, pained sob. his eyes slightly widened upon hearing it, because he didn't really assume that you were crying.

you stood up, saying nothing. you returned his jacket and tried to stand up with your wobbly, jelly legs. talking to him and indulging in his presence will only make you breakdown.

"...i'm going home."

with your voice thick from crying, it was obvious to albedo that you were clearly heartbroken. trying to walk away from him, you felt him grab your hand.

you turned around, sniffing and facing him with your tear-stained face. you tried to hold in your sobs, and it felt like your lungs were refusing to work.

he suddenly pulled you into his arms, his one hand pushing your head gently into the crook of his neck while the other gently rubbed your back.

"you're cold." he softly whispered, as you felt the vibrations of his voice on your shoulder. he was warm, and his hair was fluffy and it smelt nice. it brought nothing but comfort.

"...why?"

your voice muffled, you tried not to cry. you felt too weak and fragile to even return the hug. the only thing on your mind was two words.

'don't cry.'

it was wrapped up around your brain and heart like chains, the chains trying to restrict your raging emotions. it was hard, because tears were already managing to escape your eyes.

"...come on, (y/n). you can tell me. bottling it all up won't help, it's not good for you."

his soft voice felt like it was trying to slowly remove the painful chains you used to bottle up your emotions. on the verge of really crying, you let out yet another pained sob.

"no... i-i can't..." wrapping your arms around him for comfort, his next words finally made you break down.

"i'm here, i'll listen to you."

you let out another pained sob. one after another, as you started to cry into his shoulder under the starry sky.

"i-i can't do this anymore, albedo... everything's too much... now i'm alone again...."

as you mumble random stuff that was locked up inside you, his one hand just kept brushing your hair gently while the other patted your back.

"shhh, it's okay. i'm here, it'll be fine." he whispered, making you cry much more. you gripped on his coat tightly, sobbing your heart out as he just kept you company, trying to comfort you.

you let it all out.

after almost half an hour of crying, you finally calmed down, still clinging onto him as your sobs died down.

"...(y/n)?" he asked, only to find out that you fell asleep on his arms. he tried to shake you gently, but you didn't respond. you were far too exhausted.

he sighed, before wrapping one arm around you and using the other to fetch his phone. after hearing your mumblings from earlier, he already got the situation.

he called lumine, using his phone.

"hello? albedo?"

"yes, sorry to disturb you. are you with xiao right now?"

"yes. why?" lumine was confused, because the two weren't really acquainted.

"could you please hand him the phone?"

"...sure. xiao, someone wants to talk to you." he heard them both speaking in the background, before hearing xiao finally talk.

"yes?"

"ah, hello? sorry for the sudden question, but do you know (y/n)'s address?"

"...why?" xiao was surprised. why was he asking for your address, in the middle of the night too?

"...she..." he glanced at your peacefully sleeping figure in his arms, before sighing.

"she left her bag at the laboratory, so i'm here to return it."

the other line went silent for a few seconds.

"...i'll text you the address."

"thank you. also, please be more aware of your actions in the future too," albedo added sternly.

albedo hung up the phone. he was quite bothered that it has come to this, but leaving you alone isn't an option.

'what does he mean?'

xiao thought, before shrugging it off and returning the phone back to lumine.

albedo took you home, carrying you on his back. when he finally reached your house, he sat you down on the couch, wrapping you up with the blanket placed on the side.

you both weren't really close so he was hesitant on doing this. before leaving, he scribbled a quick note that he left on the coffee table.

relationships and things like this weren't really his thing, but he provided you the comfort when you needed it the most.

♡♡♡

you woke up, your head feeling quite heavy from all the crying. your eyes were swollen too.

it was 4AM, and one note on the coffee table made you remember and realize why you were home.

i brought you home because you passed out. take care of yourself properly.

relationships and friendships aren't really my forte, but if you ever feel complicated, i'll listen to you.
