the locker door shifted, while you tried to stop squirming under xiao's touch. the thing is, it's not that comfortable, but he was tickling you. the locker door was about to open when,

"mr. principal, you have a message~"

a student chanted in a sing song tone, calling for the principal's attention.

"hm, who are you? please do speak much formally."

"oops. call me venti, sir. the teachers downstairs are waiting for you, i have been sent out to look for you."

"right. thank you for informing me. don't misbehave." the footsteps faded away, signalling that he was walking away. you heard xiao breath a sigh of relief, until venti said,

"ayo, xiao! you there? anyway, do come out soon then, class will be starting." venti called from outside, also walking away. as you heard the door close, you hurriedly opened the locker, pushing yourself out and forcing yourself out of xiao's grip.

you panted, your face red. you were also sweating which was not comfortable. of course, from the lack of oxygen and cool air inside, who wouldn't be a mess? you didn't notice but your hands were also shaking, from shock, relief and nervousness, maybe?

you held your hands on your chest, and your heart was still beating so fast.

"nice job, idiot (y/n)." xiao said quietly, leaving the locker and removing the dust from his hair. he glanced at you, before cleaning up and putting away the electric guitar.

"w-what..." you stuttered. you stood there still, utterly flustered and embarrassed.

xiao glanced at you again. you were clutching your chest, unevenly breathing. he frowned at you, before approaching and standing in front of you.

"uh... are you okay?" he said avoiding your gaze. he, in fact, was quite guilty and uncomfortable with what he had done.

you looked him in the eye, scowling at him. "who's the privacy invader now, loser? that was too much for my mental, physical, spiritual and emotional being!" you were embarrassed internally, and you hated yourself for enjoying it. maybe because you were touch starved- nope, definitely not.

"well, um, sorry..." he muttered, a hint of red in his face. he was looking at the floor shyly, slightly pouting.

your brain screamed at you to tease and torment him more, but your heart was beating and telling you to forgive the poor boy, seeing as he was trying his best.

do you know what you picked?

both.

"well, i'll forgive you, but you need to help me with one thing."

xiao looked at you suspiciously, his amber-gold eyes glinting from the sunlight.

"no."

he walked away, turning his back on you.

"just please, tiny request??"

"argh- go ahead then, but remember that you also invaded my private time inside this room and attracted the principal's attention. i have the right to refuse."

he faced you, arms crossed. you pondered. well, you were about to give the condition about the frogs but he'll definitely refuse. no doubt. you were dense but not that dense to not know that your request is not easy.

"so um, can i be your friend? also, you can play the guitar?!"

xiao's eyes widened for a second, regaining composure immediately.

"well, okay. we're friends now. happy?" he answered in a monotone voice before walking away and leaving you in the room.

"very." you grinned to yourself, before dusting yourself off and catching up with xiao. you both walked to class together, but it felt as if he doesn't even know you were there.

"who're your friends?"

"you."

you frowned at him. was he serious? or no?

"are you serious? no, other than me."

"venti."

"ooh, the message guy. so you have two friends only?"

"..."

he kept silent, staring ahead blankly.

"i guess that's a yes. you can play the guitar?"

"a bit. and don't go around telling other people. also, when are you going to shut up?"

you mimed zipping your mouth, keeping quiet until you entered the classroom. xiao just sighed, walking beside you.

you entered the classroom with xiao, a few students looking your way. bennett waved at you, and you waved back. you both sat on your seats, and miraculously, xiao was sitting in front of you.

"xiao! look, you sit in front of me!"

"i can see that, (y/n)..."

you blabbered to xiao, him just listening and giving minimal responses.

meanwhile, on the other side of the room, hu tao was staring at you, her chin resting on her left palm.

"hm, (y/n) did become less tired and more cheerful after meeting him..."

after 2 subjects, it was finally lunchtime. you slammed your head on the desk, your brain drained.

you closed your eyes for a few seconds, and when you opened your eyes, xiao moved his desk in front of yours, so your desk and his was joined together. he casually got out his lunch, startled when you slammed your hands on the desk.

"eh?!"

"what?" he asked cluelessly, opening up his bento box.

"why are you in front of my desk?"

"ah, i'll move away then."

he lifted up his chair, making you protest.

"ah no no no it's fine! but why?"

he glared at you, placing his chair back and sitting on it. "well aren't you indecisive. don't friends do this?"

"so blunt, wow." you unpacked your lunch happily, eating with xiao. "i mean, not everyone's as bold as you."

"so this isn't normal? what do normal friends do then...?"

"stop talking like a caveman! it's normal, but they usually ask people first." you ate an egg roll with your chopstick, staring at xiao who was looking outside of the window, chewing his rice.

"wait, don't you eat with your other friend then? venti?"

"i don't like eating my lunch with him sitting on random trees." he blankly stared back at your eyes.

"he only eats apples during lunchtime. sometimes if he's hungry he steals my egg rolls."

"ah, i see..." you said, sighing. and there you enjoyed a lunch break with xiao, just blabbering random nonsense with him.

after class ;

"i made a friend today."

xiao fiddled with the guitar in the music room with venti. venti glanced at xiao, gently smiling.

"ooh, nice! are they nice?"

"well,"
