you lied down in bed, staring at the ceiling. it was currently 6:30 AM, and your class starts in an hour. yet here you are, tired, even if you just woke up. you never wanted to be late for class, but this was an exception. you felt too tired to even get up from bed.

you lied down there, for 15 more minutes, before someone feebly knocked on your room. "(y/n)? im coming in." ganyu opened the door, her head peeking out. you lifted your head, looking at her expectantly.

"aren't you going to class? im leaving with hu tao. are you okay?" she asked, worried. she often cared about your whole being, and it made your heart warm.

"yeah, yeah, im fine, thanks ganyu. go ahead, i'll go to class later." ganyu nodded, before anxiously closing the door.

you sat up, sighing. 'there's no escape from school, this shit scarier than horror movies,' you thought, before standing up to get prepared.

you walked to school, wearing a jacket above your uniform. it was 7:45 AM, you were late but you didn't give a shit anymore. you took your time in walking, your hair hiding your face.

you walked through the empty hallways, since everyone went inside their classrooms already because of class. as you entered your classroom, no one was there. you stood by the door, confused. you put down your bag on your seat and you stared at your desk, trying to remember what was supposed to happen today.

"hey, (l/n), did you leave your science notebook too?" a white haired boy, bennett, grinned at me before taking his own notebook. of course, today you had science period in the morning at the laboratory. you smiled back, weakly, as you picked up your notebook and pen from your bag.

you walked with bennett to the laboratory. he talked a lot about fischl and partners and frogs and stuff but your mind couldn't keep up, your hearing was hazy. you just nodded, till you reached the laboratory door. it was very noisy, so you just entered the room, bowed to the teacher who was struggling in calming down the students and sat on an empty seat. you buried your head on your arms, everything very noisy.

after a few moments of the teacher scolding your classmate, everyone went silent.

"quiet, so as i said, ms. (y/n), your partner for this project is mr. xiao."

you raised your head, your chin resting on your right palm. a boy with black-teal hair moved his chair next to you, nodding at you. you glanced at him nodding back.

"so students, as i said, i will give you 3 weeks of preparation before you do the actual task, which is dissecting a frog. the frogs will be already set, and some may still be alive. so as i was saying-"

your eyes widened. frogs? dissect? you looked at your partner, only to find out that his head was lying down on his arm on the table, his lips in a slight pout. he was clicking his pen again and again quietly. you rolled your eyes. does no one care about the poor frogs in here?

you listened to the teacher, your face in a visible frown as you took notes. there's no way you were going to do what the teacher says. fail or not fail, you didn't want to watch a cute little innocent creature being tortured by cruel human beings.

class resumed with you sitting with your very quiet and unreadable partner, and you scowling.

"hu tao!" you yelled, catching hu tao's attention who was drinking chocolate milk from the vending machine.

"aye, (y/n) bestie, what's up?"

"we are dissecting frogs right? are you aware?" you took ahold of her shoulders, while hu tao stared at you, confused.

"um, yeah? my partner is boring ol' zhongli and he spouts nerd nonsense stuff. he doesn't listen to me but (y/n), do you think in that performance task, we get to talk about the frogs soul?" hu tao's eyes sparkled. you sighed. of course, no one cares about the poor frogs. this horror freak of a friend you have doesn't even have a heart for the poor frogs.

"bestie, the frogs will die. they'll be tortured."

"they need to atone for their sins because they eat flies, i guess? oh, do frogs go to heaven too?" hu tao started mumbling stuff about the frogs soul, and seemingly forgot about you. so you walked away forlornly, thinking about how you will save the frogs.

'aha!' a lightbulb clicked in your head, and you went around the school searching for your partner. this morning you had no purpose in life, you were so tired. but now, your purpose was to save the frogs.

yes. as dumb as it may seem, you loved frogs. or any other animal.

to no luck, you did not find xiao, your partner. so instead, you sat by your desk, eyes closed. you thought of how to pass and save the frogs, and if you could pull something off like that, that would be a win-win situation.

someone tapped your shoulder, and you weren't very happy that someone interrupted your deep, meaningful, important and intelligent thinking. you frowned, only to meet a pair of golden amber eyes staring back at you.

"hey, (y/n), right? when do we start on that project?"

you stared at his eyes back, before your mind suddenly went blank. your eyes staring at him was screaming 'pretty' at him, but he couldn't get the message. ha, typical.

"um, how about at my place?" you suggested, a plan on your mind. you thought you could persuade him and maybe bribe him at your place, but you had a intuition that it was not going to be easy.

"okay. you live with ganyu, right? i'll go ahead later after school then, see you."

he walked away. as you observed, he seemed popular. a lot of girls were giving you the cold glare but it was not your job to please them, so you went ahead with preparing your 'master plan' in your mind.
