"Wait!!!" I shouted as I heard the room go silent.

I slowly sat up before jumping down.

"I'm here. You don't need to kill him." I said raising my hands up.

Mason smirked.

"You can do anything for your little boyfriend." Aaron teased.

"He's not my boyfriend." I muttered though this was not the topic to discuss at that time.

"There's a term called friends. A guy and a girl can be friends. Get your head out of the ancient times. Ancient piece of shit." Daniel growled. I rolled my eyes.

"You speak too much for someone held at gunpoint." Mason growled, clenching his jaw.

"Lets get to business." Aaron started.
"Hand over the gang to us, and your little 'friend' here will not be killed or we'll kill you all and take it anyways. We just don't kill little girls everyday so...." He trailed off.

"It's not in my hands." I stated. "Boss owns this gang."

"I think you have all the information. Besides, we have enough information to know that you and this thing on the ground, are the most respected in the gang after your 'boss." Aaron said smugly.

"The gang leader is already killed. Its obvious, the gang is gonna be in your hands next. So, we are giving you a choice, you give us the information willingly and let us take over. Or he gets killed." Mason said while loading his gun and pushing it against Daniel's head.

"Consider it a friendship test. Power or friend?" Aaron asked, amusement lacing his voice. A smirk formed on Daniel's face as he looked at me expectantly.

"Fine. You can have the gang. The information too. Just please don't kill him." I pleaded as I saw the two of them smirk.

I operated my computer and got aside as Aaron started going though it. I just stood there watching him and biting my nails as one of their men kept me at gunpoint.

"I knew you do care. I told you, deep down you see me as your friend." Daniel whispered. I rolled my eyes.

"Keep dreaming." I said.

"You do know you are forcing yourself to believe that." He said. I just stayed silent.

My head was hurting listening to Mason's voice barking orders to his men. Why is this happening?

"Ok let's go. It's done." Aaron said, getting up.

All of them walked out with us following them. Their guards kept an eye on our every movement, so we may not attack them.

We got out. They set fire to the building and left, leaving me and Daniel alone on the streets.

"What am I gonna do?" He said staring at the burning building.
I didn't feel anything, as usual.

"This place has so many memories and look what is happening right before my eyes." He muttered, a frown etched on his face.

We stood there for a while. Daniel just stared at the building, keeping his emotions inside.

"Anyways, here's my number. Contact me when you get a phone." He said pushing a paper into my hand and leaving. I took a last look at the building and headed home.

What has happened to my luck? It was already bad, now its worse.

Tying my leg to the bed, I went to sleep thinking about the base and the unusual headache.

-----------------------

The next morning, I woke up at 10. I slept in because its sunday and no one really cares. Taking a shower and putting a pink shirt and leggings on, I went downstairs.

I heard voices coming from the living room as I moved a little bit closer, trying to eavesdrop. I just turned the corner to the hallway when I saw Mom practically running in my direction. Her eyes landed on me and she came to an abrupt halt.

"Go put on the hair and contacts." She said and ushered me back. She looked worried.

I ran to my room and put on the red wig and green eyes, except for the usual red wig and brown eyes.

I went downstairs only for Mom to pull me into the living room where I was greeted by who? Another blue-eyed guy. A faint pain was felt in my head as I stared into his eyes.

"I want the stuff by tomorrow Or I'll harm your daughter." He said, standing up. "I'm taking her with me now. As a bait. Send the stuff and have your daughter back."

I hated the way he said the word 'daughter'.

I just stood there contemplating what to do. Do I need to go with this complete stranger?

I'm not scared but I'm shocked someone will send their daughter with a complete stranger who happens to be maybe a year or two older than her.

Mom glared at me from behind him as he walked towards me. He grabbed my upper arm, not as tight as it looked and dragged me out and I just let him do that.

We walked to his car in the driveway and he opened the door to the passenger seat for me.

I expected him to throw me in or something but he just stood there looking at me with a small smile on his face and waiting for me to get in. I got in. He shut the door and came to sit in the driver seat himself.

"Grayson." He said as we pulled out of the driveway.

"Ava." I said softly, putting the small girl act on.
He shot me a smile.

Woah! This is not how a bait is treated.

I Iooked at him again, staring intently.

"What happened, Princess?" He asked without even turning his head.

"Why are you being so nice?" I asked, softy. He let out a chuckle but his eyes told me he was remembering something distant and painful.

He shrugged. "I'm older than you and you give me little sister vibes, if that is something. So, the big brother inside me is coming out." He said, like he was explaining something to a small child.

He looked sad while saying this. I didn't push it further because I didn't want to be nosy.

I just nodded and looked out the window.

I still feel unsafe.

We pulled up to an apartment building. He parked the car outside and led me into the building. He led me to a room and opened the door for me.

"You can stay here. I hope for a short while, for your sake." He said while smiling at me. I nodded and went inside the room and sat on the bed with my back against the headboard.

I was in full defensive mode, noticing his every move like a hawk. He sat in an armchair at the side. He pulled out his phone and began scrolling through it.

It felt safe.

I don't know. I'm having mixed feelings. He feels safe but unsafe at the same time. Not to mention, the slight pain in my head.

I think I'm allergic to blue-eyed men.

But the pain has started feeling familiar. Like I'm getting used to it. But it still thrills me whenever I feel it. It feels like my brain is under some stress or working something up.

Before I knew it, my eyes started closing on their own accord. I tried keeping them open but eventually gave up.

--------------------

I woke up to hear hushed voice of Grayson. I could only hear his voice, so I guess he was talking over a phone.

"I don't know. I'll send her back when they send the stuff." He said, obviously talking about me.

"Yeah. But I don't want to. She's a sweetheart. Although she doesn't express it, but I know she is." He said, as I imagined Daniel scowling at that.

"Can't we just adopt her? I can't let her go through something like that. No one deserves it. I know we're the mafia but she just feels friendly and familiar and I can't help but put the mafia guy aside and want to help her get out of there." He said exasperatedly.

"I know, its none of my business but–" He became silent. He was cut off probably by whoever he was talking to.

"They are not even her real parents." He hissed, annoyed by the person on the line.

"Fine." He said. I sat up straight, staring at him sleepily. He didn't notice me because he had his hands on his head.

"What do you mean, they're not my real parents?" I asked. His head snapped towards me and his eyes widened.

'He must be talking about someone else.'

"How much did you hear?" He asked.
"Enough." I Answered.

"Now, can you answer my question?" I asked, struggling to be polite.

He sighed.
"Its not my place to tell you but they're not your real parents. That's all I said before and you aren't getting more. I would've helped you, get out of there, if it wasn't for the dumb idiot who said it was none of my business." He said looking worried and angry at the same time.

What? They seriously aren't?
But I can't just trust a stranger. He's nice but I can't trust him at that. Half of me thought that.

While the other half of me was enraged. The whole time, I thought they were blood and did everything I could to make them happy and satisfied, before I became a rebel.

Now, no matter what I did behind their backs, but I still followed their rules and expectations just to get a small appreciation, a little bit of attention from them.

I wasn't afraid to fight back or better.. leave. But it didn't feel right abandoning your own parents.

But if they really aren't my real parents, I don't even know what I'll do. I won't say I haven't thought about putting a bullet through their head sometimes, because I have, under emotional stress.

There's definitely more to it, than he's telling.

His phone pinged.
"I guess its time to get you home." He said getting up. He started walking towards me. Again, my defensive mode was on as he stepped closer.

I looked at his hand which was now moving towards me. His hand went towards my hair, I flinched and pulled away.

"Hey!! I'm just setting your hair." He said stepping back, cautiously. I sat up straight again and ran my fingers through my hair. He watched with worry as I settled my fake hair.

After a while, he led me back to the garage. I noticed that it was almost next morning as the sun was still rising.

"Do they treat you well?" He asked as we pulled out of the parking lot.

"Yeah." I lied, not knowing why. I don't trust anyone anymore. But I had a little hope maybe someone out there will love me and care for me, but now I feel hopeless, useless, unworthy. Now, I'm sure I'm not born to be loved.

I could feel Grayson glancing at me every now and then, probably having a weird look on his face as everyone does when they look at my emotionless self.

We pulled into our driveway. Grayson turned to me and sighed.

"I don't know what is going on inside your head. But please stay safe. Wait." He said, pulling out a paper and writing something on it.

"Call me if you need me. I'll be there in a minute." He said, handing me the paper having his number on it.

"Why do you even care?" I muttered, hesitantly taking the paper from him.

"I don't know, honestly." He said as I opened the door to my side and got out. He watched me enter the mansion before I heard the car speeding off.

'Here we go.'

---------------
