Y/n was on the ventilator for about a good two days before it was deemed safe enough for her to breathe without it and once, she was off, she had a surprise visit.

"Rina-chan?" the h/c haired girl called with a raised brow. Behind the little girl trailed Wakatoshi who closed the door upon entry.

"Y/n-chan! Aniki said I can see you today." explained the little girl as she beamed up at the bed ridden female, "Are you okay? Does it hurt?"

One would think that because the two is related that Rina would be as talkative as Ushijima which is close to not talkative at all; well, with certain people at least.

"I'm okay." the girl assured, "Honestly, I'm ready to walk out of here."

As the two conversed, Y/n mostly asked about her school and personal life which Rina cheeringly answered. The little girl even went on to tell her stories about her and her friends.

Ushijima, on the other hand, sat on the padded chair and took out his phone to play his latest match so he can note his errors.

Being tired of standing, Rina neared to the bed and tried climbing on.

"Rina. No." said Ushijima to his cousin sternly, having a face to match his tone but when Y/n helped Rina onto her hospital bed, he seemed to have loosened up.

"It's fine, Wakatoshi." Y/n said as she placed Rina on her lap since the bed was small enough to only hold Y/n.

It didn't take long for the youngest in the room to fall asleep. Rina had come straight after school and was still in her uniform.

Wakatoshi paused the video and tucked his phone in his pocket. He stared at the floor, wondering to ask a question that had burning in his mind for a while.

"Where are your parents, L/n?" He suddenly asked, the girl's e/c eyes met his in an instant, "You always inquire about mine, but you have not uttered a word about yours."

It was true, she had been keen on getting to know the male that she had not told him much about herself. What Wakatoshi does know is based upon his personal observation.

"Well, for one they're divorced. My dad is in the US army. I hardly ever get to see him, he gets deployed a lot." she began, "And my mom is somewhere about living her life with her new husband and children."

Ushijima nodded in understanding before inquiring more, "Why are you not living with your mother instead?"

The words the olive haired male said to her made her scoff, followed by a slight shake of her head, "She's more content on having her father raise me instead."

Wakatoshi stopped on the personal questions as he realise the frown on her face. He didn't like that, so he tried bringing back the smile he'd prefer to see which he successfully did.

Washijo opened the door to Y/n's room and poked his head out, "You have a match tomorrow, Wakatoshi. Time to wrap up."

With that, he retreated his head and closed the door. The male stood from the chair and neared to Y/n's bedside.

Wakatoshi leaned down and placed a gently kiss on the female's forehead. He took Rina off the h/c haired girl and held his sleeping cousin at his side.

Y/n gestured for Ushijima to near closer and with a raised brow; he complied, she kept gesturing until he was close enough to kiss his cheek, "Good luck tomorrow."

He gave a small nod, "I will visit tomorrow." When Wakatoshi exited her room, he stopped for a moment and his fingers lingered over his cheek right where Y/n had kissed him.

And that's when he realized that Y/n L/n could do the smallest of things and it would affect him more than he could have possibly known.

==================

She knew she wasn't supposed to do this. She knew she would get in trouble but, it didn't stop her from packing her things and heading to the stadium to see Shiratorizawa vs Karasuno.

Hours after Ushijima had left the hospital, she had been discharged with stern orders to stay at home and to use the nebulizer at all times.

Y/n was definitely going to hear her grandfather's scolding later. She walked around, holding her nebulizer to her face.

People stared out of pity and scorn towards the medical instrument helping her live

Y/n passed in front of the male's bathroom to see a odd little guy just eyeing down the door. With furrowed brows, she rest a hand on his shoulder to grab his attention.

The boy practically jumped to the ceiling in fright and looked towards the source of a hand, only to see a h/c haired girl.

He slapped a hand over his chest in relief and it was then Y/n realised the male in front of her.

"Hinata Shoyo."

The male's eyed widened as he stood straight and vigorously nodded, "You're Shiratorizawa's manager, aren't you?" he basically beamed.

Y/n groaned, pulling off the hood of her jacket and yanking off the shades off her face, revealing her full features, "You could seriously tell?"

He nodded once more and slightly held his chin, "Are you not supposed to be here?"

"I'm not, actually." Y/n responded with a slight laugh, "Which is now a bad thing because my disguise doesn't work."

Hinata hummed and then perked up, "I have a hat you can borrow!" The girl smiled at his enthusiasm and agreed to borrow his hat.

She followed the orange haired male to where his team stood in the lobby. On a chair his bag sat. He rummaged through to pull out a pink bucket hat with yellow flowers on it.

Y/n saw that he grew red at the sight, and he sputtered as he tried his best to explain himself, "T-this is not mine!" he waved in defense frantically, " It's my sister's! Our hats must have mixed up!"

Y/n laughed at his actions and placed a hand gently on his shoulder, "It's fine, Hinata-kun. It's an adorable hat."

The male bursted in embarrassment and turned beat red at her words. He just stood there and her e/c eyes widened, worrying that something might be wrong with him.

It was then short black-haired male approached along with a white-haired male. They walked side by side and stood next to Hinata.

One of them were the captain of Karasuno's volleyball team as indicated by the number one on his jersey while the other was number two.

"I'm sorry about him. He's not used to female attention." Number one spoke, swinging an arm around Hinata, "I'm Daichi Sawamura."

"L/n Y/n. Pleased to meet you." She bowed slightly out of respect.

"And I'm Sugawara Koushi." Number two introduced with a bright smile, "You're Shiratorizawa's manager, right?"

That made Y/n's smile to instantly drop as she groaned. The girl put on the hat and the sunglasses back on, "Do I look like their manager now?" she asked hopefully.

Daichi and Sugawara both looked at each other and back at the female, "I take it you're not supposed to be here." Daichi laughed.

The female nodded and asked once more, "So, do I look like a complete stranger?"

"You look like a grade school child with the hat." said Sugawara said, only to be nudged harshly at his side by his captain.

However, Y/n didn't take offense, they were surprised when she perked up and laughed, "Great! Thank you, guys!"

It was then she grabbed the attention of more members of Karasuno's volleyball team. Their libero and wing spiker went practically dashed over to her.

She got acquainted with their team. They were much different than Shiratorizawa, they were much livelier and more chaotic.

She had a decent conversation with Kageyama, the setter she was decently fond of. It was quite rare to see Kageyama interact with a girl and not blow her off or just merely walk away.

Y/n also noticed the intimidated ace of Karasuno shying away. He paced up and down not too far from where she stood.

When she approached him, he almost screamed. He was a fairly muscular and big guy, and it was amusing how he was more afraid of her than she was of him.

Y/n ended up giving him some ace-to-ace advice and told him some strategies she used to calm herself down before a big game.

She wished the team luck and gave Hinata a hug for helping her with her disguise in which he malfunctioned at once again.

The team bowed at her help and company, appreciative of her motivation before she left.

They all found it hard to believe that Y/n attended Shiratorizawa as they had a brilliant track record of having only arrogant, cocky or stuck-up students but, L/n Y/n was definitely a different one.
