"'Boom!' goes the ace of Shiratorizawa, sparing his opponents no mercy!"

The crowd, the players and even the commentators of the match yell and clap for Shiratorizawa who secured another victory.

And their manager, she couldn't be more proud of her team. She stood teary eyed with her hands clasped against her chest while the boys huddle around Wakatoshi and jump on him.

Out of all the commotion around him, his olive eyes still managed to find Y/n's e/c eyes. Ushijima gestured her to join him and the boys on the court who were celebrating.

Her eyes widen and she shook her head 'no' frantically. His deadpanned expression is what made her trudge towards them.

Thousands of eyes now laid on the h/c haired female who walked on the court. Tendou and Goshiki practically bounced around her while the rest high fived her.

Wakatoshi held her hand and raised it up, just like how refrees do to declare the winner of a wresting match.

With the slightest curve of his lips, Wakatoshi said, "Congratulations, L/n. You have won."

The smile etched on the female's lips was noticeable and was a pretty sight for the olive haired male's eyes.

After some of the members of the Shiratorizawa's were interviewed. They rested up and had lunch and waited for their second match of the day

The girl was busy up and down with her grandfather to ensure everything was in order and the boys were taken care of.

Again, it was no surprise when Shiratorizawa volleyball team crushed their opponents once again.

What the crowd did notice was that the female was brought onto the court again to bask in their victory.

They also notice that Wakatoshi held her hand again and raised it to the sky, proceeding to say something to her which made her smile.

"Second win of the day! You're on fire, Y/n-chan!" Tendou chirped whilst embracing the female, though he was very much sweaty; she still found herself accepting it.

It was an understatement to say that the boys were exhausted. On the bus, they all passed out instantly. Washijo decided to cancel their usual meeting after matches so they could go home to rest.

Y/n did her usual research of their next opponent and sent the details to her grandfather. Everyone had gone home and Washijo had gone to visit a training camp for juniors; just to give them some advice.

It was just her who was left to lock up the gymnasium and walk home.

The girl felt weird walking home by herself, it was an odd thing because normally she'd have Ushijima by her side. She plugged in her headphones and ventured on her journey home.

Whilst walking home, Y/n was experiencing shortness of breath. It didn't worry her as it was a normal thing, and her breathing would soon stabilize.

But when that didn't happen and it proccedingly got worst, she started to panic.

With her hands shaking and the the ability the breathe was getting less by the second, she pounded on the door to the nearest house; hoping that she would get help.

That was all she remembers before it all went black.

==================

Her eyes fluttered open, and she squinted to adjust to the bright ceiling lights. No longer was she blacked out on some person's doorstep, but she was laying on a hospital bed.

Y/n reached up to touch her face to feel an object over her mouth. The girl wasn't idiot, she knew she was hooked up to a ventilator; it wasn't the first nor the last time she would experience it.

Her body felt fragile, afraid if she broke it if she moved. It was an uncomfortable feeling and it hurt considering she had a tube down her throat helping her breathe

She made out the blurred figure by her bedside. The female was met with the sight of a sleeping brunet.

Oikawa sat on a padded chair next to her, drooling on his own shoulder. It didn't take long for him to wake up and once he saw the girl's eyes open, he scrambled to his feet.

Oikawa held the girl's hand delicately and brought their joined hands to his chest, "Hey, Shorty-chan."

He took a notepad and a pen off her bedside table. He placed the pad on her lap and the pen in her free hand.

"You can write whatever you want to say." The male said, "Shiratorizawa is playing today, your grandfather is with them. It took a lot of him to go because he didn't want to leave you."

With slightly trembling hands, her hand drifted across the paper, scribbling on it.

'I'm glad he went with them. They need him.'

With a slight chuckle, Tooru shook his head, "They need you too, you know?"

Deciding on changing the subject, it took a while for Y/n to write, 'What are you doing here?'

"The house you knocked on was my sister's and I was there babysitting my nephew." he explained, "I'm really glad you're okay."

Y/n couldn't stop thanking the brunet for his assistance and staying with her on top of that.

Oikawa assured that it was completely fine, and he was happy that he could have done something; that was the truth.

They talked some more. She asked about his matches so far and it was then she was told that Aoba Johsai lost to Karasuno a couple days ago.

At the mention of his defeat, she realized it affected him and he was still bothered by it. He mentioned before that if it was anything, he wanted to victory over Ushijima.

Oikawa wanted to beat him; just once and he wasn't going to get that chance this year because he had lost before he can play against Shiratorizawa.

'One day you'll get him, Tooru. It might be next year, three years or even five years from now. I know you will'

This brought a smile to the brunet lips. Oikawa had mention that he had confessed to the ace of Aoba Johsai that he had been crushing on, Iwaizumi Hajime.

Of course, though she couldn't speak, Y/n teased Oikawa to the bitter end. It was funny to see his reactions and flustered expression; for a brief moment, she felt alright.

Her situation wasn't even dwelled on when she was with Oikawa. The door to her hospital room opened and both eyes averted to her grandfather who had just entered.

He had a blanket in his hands that he carefully draped over her; on top the hospital sheets she was already under.

It was quite cold, and the old man knew his granddaughter got cold very easily.

He remember the times she would nag him days on end, complaining that she was cold so he ended up having a blanket at his disposal; he would just throw it at her to shut her up and Y/n would smile at that.

'Thank you' she wrote on the pad, her grandfather read the words and the old male gave a nod.

"How are you feeling, kid?" Washijo asked. Y/n weakly formed a thumbs up with her hand, "Think you could handle visitors?"

Her eyes widen a bit at the realization that the volleyball team is outside the door to her room.

'Don't let them see me like this'

The words on the paper made both males frown, "You know they wouldn't care about that, Shorty-chan." Oikawa assured the female firmly.

"You'll regret not seeing them now, Y/n." said elder male, "Let them know you're okay, they're worried about you."

Y/n's hands brought the pad closer to write comfortably. The scratching of the paper filled the room as they both await a response.

'Only if you both get me ice cream when I get out of here.'

This made Oikawa beam and grin, even the old geezer smiled at her, even if it was the faintest of one.

"You can have whatever you want when you get out, Shorty-chan." said the brunet, "Isn't that right, sir?"

"Whatever he said." the old man replied as he went to the door, Oikawa trailed behind.

They both exited and Goshiki and Shirabu entered. It was a terrible sight for them as they asked if she was okay.

She talked to the boys via the notepad as they came in two at a time. Goshiki told her jokes, Shirabu fluffed her pillow, Kawanishi brought her a flower that he probably picked off a tree; he didn't have enough time to get her real ones as the news was so sudden.

Yamagata danced for her, Reon comforted her, and Semi cried; well, he tried not to and though he tried to conceal it by telling her stories and trying to make her laugh, Y/n could still tell, and it broke her heart.

The last two to visit her was Satori and Wakatoshi. When they both entered, the bigger male stood by the door and the red head approached her.

"Are you trying to kill me, Y/n-chan?" Tendou sighed as he sat where Oikawa sat previously, bring it closer to her bed, "Please tell me you're okay."

'You worry too much, Satori. I'm okay'

The male smiled and proceeded to carry on a conversation. Tendou hated seeing her in this position. He was never one to pray, but he would everyday if it meant that she'd live.

"It'd be a good idea to get a radio in here for you don't you think?" said Tendou, "Try not to destroy that one like the one in the staff room." the laughed at the memory.

'We don't talk about that' Y/n wrote which made him giggle. The red head talked about how they won their matches today.

They were advancing and their next match would be against Karasuno, "We won for you, Y/n-chan."

Wakatoshi still stood at the door just staring, it was impossible to know what he was thinking at that moment.

Satori's beaming eyes pried off the female to the male by the door which made his smile slightly falter. Satori stood and leaned into whisper in her ear, "I'll leave you two alone."

'Will you be back, Satori?' she wrote. The male giggled once more.

"I think you know the answer to that." Satori beamed. His enthusiasm did answer her question. She did a little wave goodbye to Satori as he left, patting Wakatoshi 's back on the way out.

He still didn't move,it took him a while to approach her bedside. The beeping of the heart monitor was filling the still silence that Ushijima didn't know how to break.

When the olive haired male was finally in her sight, she notice the red eyes and tusseled hair, very different than his usual appearance.

Finally, he cleared his throat in order to speak, " You have to get better, L/n." He said, " It may be a selfish thing to say but I mean It."

Now if Y/n was being honest, she knew that one way or another, she was getting out of that hospital. The thing the girl was unsure of was if she was getting out alive.

There was no way she would admit that to anyone, she rather carry the burden of the truth herself.

The slightest curve of the male's lips made itself present as he sat on the padded chair.

Ushijima brushed her hair back to see her face better, the one he had grown too attached to more than he would like to admit.

'You're facing Karasuno next week. How scared are you?'

Though it was in writing, Ushijima could almost hear her teasing tone as Y/n said those words to him.

"If I told you, I would have to eliminate you." Wakatoshi said. It made her smile, it was rare for him to make jokes, but it made her feel good he was doing it for her expense.

"Can I hold your hand?" With all the strength she can muster, the girl nodded. He took her hand into his and held it up to his lips, gently placing a kiss on hers.

With her free hand, Y/n picked up the pen.

'You should head home and rest.'

"I will leave when I am pleased, unless you would like me to." The male responded. He knew that if Y/n could talk, she would disagree and tell him to go home and knowing him; he'd listen.

She couldn't talk to tell him otherwise, so the male had the upper hand, so he stayed. Wakatoshi told her about the things that had happened at the game.

One of the stands had a T-shirt on sale with a quote that he thought she would like. In fact, she liked it a lot. The male made a mental note to buy it next time.

As they talked about random things, Washijo was outside speaking to the doctor tending to his granddaughter.

"Her lungs are slowly failing more and more. She may be able to walk out of here but the next time it gets this bad, unfortunately she won't have a chance."

The old man nodded in understanding as the doctor continued, "Once L/n's off the ventilator, she would have to use a nebulizer at all times."

In finishing up his chat, Washijo walked back to where Oikawa sat, which was near Y/n's door. The rest of the team had left not too long after checking up on her.

"Go home, kid. You've been here since she was admitted." He spoke causing the brunet to raise his gaze from off the floor.

Y/n had been admitted for at least twenty hours. Oikawa stood and shook his head, "I dont think I can."

It was barely audible, but it was still picked up by the elder, "It's either I send you home or Y/n does, and I warn you, you'd prefer my scolding instead."

This made Tooru laugh and he nodded in agreement. He was desperately tired and the most he slept was about two hours on the chair earlier, "If anything happens or you need any help with her, please let me know."

Washijo gave a firm nod and that's all he needed to walk away with a clear mind. With a sigh, Washijo decided to check on the pair inside Y/n's room.

When he opened the door, he didn't enter but more stood there by the doorway.

Taji Washijo was a rather harsh man, yelling and scolding people immensely when they screwed up. He wasn't one to smile or laugh nor to cry.

Yet, he stood there with tears threatening to run down his face as he watched his granddaughter and Ushijima sleeping peacefully while holding hands.
