"If Oikawa-san messes up his serves, he owes us ramen." Aoba Johsai's middle blocker said.

The brunet in mention gasped in offense and proceeded to cross his arms.

However, before he can defend himself, their wing spiker interjected, "I want pork in mine."

"I want chicken." said their ace.

"Chicken sounds good." Y/n agreed whilst nodding her head in agreement, "I'll take that too."

As Oikawa whined about his teammates being mean to him, Y/n checked the time to see if she should be heading back to her team.

The spring tournament had finally made its way. She stood beside court number four, the court that Aoba Johsai would have their first match.

Shiratorizawa was on court one so she decided to wrap things up with Tooru and the rest. Y/n spread her motivation and positivity to them as to encourage them with their first match.

It had seemed to work because they were fired up, excited and pumped for their battle on the polished court.

She would admit that the arena was absolutely huge. If she had to play on a stage this big, she would most definitely be scared and anxious.

If she had felt like that, Y/n could only imagine how the boys felt. Granted it wasn't their first time, but it still is a heart racing experience.

The arena held five volleyball courts in the same room, bright lights strung from the ceiling and not to mention thousands of people in the stands.

Y/n hugged the brunet before she left, wishing him victory in his match and reassuring him that he would do great. Y/n had no doubt about it.

The action made Oikawa smile and grateful as he returned the gesture.

The team expressed their gratitude to the female by inviting her to lunch sometime in the near future in which she accepted.

As Y/n finally reach court one, the boys were already practicing their spikes and receives.

She sat on the bench next to her grandfather with a huff. Her leg bounced repeatedly in nervousness.

Washijo side eyed the female to observe her state which was more or less a mess. Y/n shivered under the coolness of the room and her eyes wondered around for her Shiratorizawa volleyball jacket.

As her head spun around frantically, eyes searching for the item of clothing, she asked, "Sofu-chan, have you seen my jacket?"

He crossed his arms as his eyes never left the boys who were spiking balls in front of him, "Yes." The old man said, "It's on the coffee table at home."

Y/n groaned and slapped her hands over her face. She stood, ready to walk outside for some warm air when Semi stopped her.

"You alright?" he questioned the female. Sweat slightly trickled down his neck as he was jump serves.

"I'm fine. Here is just freezing and I forgot my jacket at home." Y/n explained, pausing before she continued, "So I'm just going to go outside for a while before I freeze."

The ash blonde male held up a finger, indicating for her to wait a moment when he went to the spare bench next to the one she was previously sitting on.

Semi found his jacket amongst the others and gave it to her.

With a hand on top her head, he smiled, "If you need anything else, just let me know."

The action made the female smile as well as Semi jogged back to the court. She slipped on the jacket with ease.

She wasn't trying to be creepy, but it was like first instinct to take a sniff of the jacket's collar. As she suspected, it smelled just like him.

When it neared to ten minutes before the match, the boys stopped and took places beside the court, near their coach.

Some drank water, some chatted with others and some even did stretches. Everyone seemed too busy to realize that the captain had left the arena.

Y/n realized this after when she hadn't spotted him, so she went frantically about looking for the male.

The place was massive, and she wasn't going to find him in time at the speed she was going. Y/n was becoming concerned but saw him watching out of a window in the main lobby.

She stomped over to him, "What the hell, Ushijima? This isn't time for bird watching, what are you doing?" The girl slightly scolded.

The male watched to her and the expression his face held was one she hadn't really seen before. Wakatoshi 's face is unreadable but right then, Y/n could tell he was anxious. It was almost like he was scared.

"Nothing." he merely said, "Let's go."

Y/n stopped the male by a simple gesture: holding the back of his shirt to prevent him from walking any further.

"You've done this your whole life, Ushijima, it's no different than what you've practiced. Go out there and you show them what the ace of Shiratorizawa can do."  The girl smiled in assurance and did something that took everything in her to do.

Y/n kissed his cheek. Though it was a simple gesture, it was a gesture that was difficult to do, "I believe in you."

===================

No one was really surprised to see that Shiratorizawa won. The most valuable player being Ushijima Wakatoshi because his play was incredible and unstoppable; more than usual.

Aoba Johsai had also won their first match and Y/n was the first to congratulate them which they deeply appreciated.

She also secretly teased Tooru about his crush on the ace of his team which he beamed red at, causing the girl to laugh and his teammates to watch him in concern.

"Did something happen to Wakatoshi-kun?" Tendou asked the h/c haired girl beside him.

Her brows knitted in confusion, " I don't believe so, why?"

The red head jerked his head towards in disbelief, "Why?'" he repeated her question while landing his hands on her shoulders, "He was on fire! He was more hyped up than usual!"

Satori and Y/n chatted some more when the olive haired male was seen approaching them. Tendou beamed and spread his arms out, "There he is! Miracle boy Wakatoshi!"

The female laughed at the nickname and his enthusiasm towards the stoic male, it was then Tendou's fiery red eyes landed on Semi struggling with some bags.

"I'll help you with that, Semi-Semi!" The male exclaimed as he ran towards him.

"I told you to stop calling me that." The male huffed with his back slouched in defeat.

"Oh, come on. Don't be like that, Semi-Semi." Y/n teased loud enough for him to hear.

The ash blonde male straightened his posture upon hearing her voice, "Not you too, Y/n!" Tendou giggled at Semi and proceeded to help him with the bags.

It was then her attention was now on the bigger male in front of her. The girl smiled and crossed her arms, "Now was that so hard?" The girl mused, "You did incredible."

Ushijima placed a hand on top her head gently, "Thank you, L/n."

Y/n's interaction with the boys was mostly her showering them with praised and in turn they would swoon, or their face would immediately turn a cute shade of red; of course, she teased them for it.

After, they loaded up the bus and she made sure that all their belongings were in the trunk.

When she had ensured that nothing was left, she was the last to enter the bus, sitting right next to her grandfather and passing out it an instant.

Strangely, the girl had slept through the whole ride and woke up by a slight poking on her right shoulder.

Her eyes fluttered open to see Satori trying to wake her up, in response she swatted his hand away and snuggled right back to sleep.

Normally after matches, Washijo holds a meeting in Shiratorizawa's gymnasium with his members. All the boys sat on the court and their coach stood in front of them.

It took around a good seven minutes for the red head to get Y/n up and off the bus so they could join the meeting.

Tendou took a seat and Y/n joined her grandfather. Her eyes couldn't help but notice the lack of one olive haired male among them.

"Where is Wakatoshi?" The old man asked everyone upon noticing his disappearance too.

"He just left abruptly. I didn't even get a chance to talk to him." said Reon.

It was odd behaviour on Ushijima's part, but they all settled on the thought that he might have been too tired to stay back.

That is what they would like to believe.

The conclusion of the meeting meant the dismissal of the boys so they could finally go home and rest up.

Y/n had had stayed back, compiling information on the volleyball team's next opponent. She skimmed through videos and articles, taking notes on crucial details she could find.

When the girl was finished, she sent them to her grandfather and called it a day.

It had crossed her mind to visit Ushijima to ensure he was alright, but she decided against it. The male was probably exhausted and the last thing he needed was company.

Instead, she decided on heading to the lookout in the park though it was weird going without Wakatoshi.

She walked along the trail and immediately halted her movements when she saw a figure under the Sakura tree.

Y/n was slightly upset that someone had found the spot but upon looking closer, she recognize the person to be Ushijima himself.

He sat with his knees to his chest and his arms placed on top them. Y/n walked over and stood in front of him, but he didn't dare avert his eyes from his hands.

"You won your first match of the spring tournament and you're here contemplating life?" The girl mused but when she received no answer, she changed the subject, "You missed the meeting."

Upon receiving yet again no answer, she grew worried. Y/n crouched in front of Ushijima and continued, "Hey, you alright?"

It was then his head rose from its stationary position, his eyes finally meeting hers.

Wakatoshi's hair was disheveled, and his frown was much more defined and frightening than usual.

"What is your reason behind the discontinuation of volleyball, L/n?" Ushijima spoke sternly, as if he was preventing himself from saying things he shouldn't, "Please do not lie again."

Her eyes slightly widened at his phrasing, and it could only mean one thing; it almost made her heart stop beating, "You know, don't you?" her voice trembled, "H-how?"

"I overheard Oikawa and Tendou discuss their concern about the situation before we left the stadium." said Wakatoshi which made her stand to her feet.

"How the hell does Tendou know?!" Y/n asked in mere shock. The red head in mention showed no signs of him being bothered by the situation, she wouldn't have thought that he was aware of her condition.

Ushijima grew irritated at her for ignoring the topic at hand but answered anyway, "The day he stayed back to do fifty serves."

Y/n remembered that day when Tendou had accidentally hit her grandfather with the ball and he did stay back, "Coach was conversing with your doctor and Tendou heard everything."

Y/n gulped harshly, what was she to do now? Pretend that it was nothing?

"Tendou knows. You told Oikawa yet I knew nothing." Wakatoshi stood to his feet, she noticed the slight quivering of his lip. It was almost not noticeable, "Was four months not enough for you to mention something?"

The girl detested the way Ushijima was going about handling the conversation, "What was I supposed to say, huh?" the girl seethe, "How was I supposed to tell the guy I'm falling for that I'm slowly dying?"

Y/n spoke rather harshly as tears threatened to spill down her face, "It's not like I have asthma, Wakatoshi. I might not even make it to next week. I can't walk anymore without gasping for breath. Is that what you want to hear?"

Y/n averted her eyes to the patchy grass she stood on and she quickly wiped her face with the length of her arm.

Ushijima was hurt hence why he confronted her about it. He simply couldn't help it.

It wasn't because she lied or refused to tell him, it was because the first person that he let in emotionally was going to leave him; even though she wasn't leaving willingly.

Wakatoshi also seemed to realise that the way Tendou handled the situation was much better. It was better if he didn't think or talk about it. If he did, he wouldn't be able to stop.

Caught up in the future so badly, it blinded him from the present.

As she stood there with her head down, sniffling occasionally; she now realized what she had said to him.

In the heat of the moment, she had revealed her feelings to the male before her and had called him by name. Not his family name, but his given one.

The h/c haired girl was sure she had screwed everything up. It was then she saw Ushijima's feet in her line of vision.

When her eyes averted from the floor, there stood the male closely in front of her.

His hand rested on the side of her face, and he just stared, like he was memorizing the details of her face.

His face neared closer, but he hesitated a lot. Y/n knew what was on his mind; he was unsure and probably was thinking if it was a good idea or not.

The girl who had enough, grabbed the neck of his shirt and pulled him down enough to land her lips on his.

It was long overdue, and they both knew that. When she pulled away, Ushijima did the unexpected and pulled her in for one more kiss then hugged her.

He just wanted to hold her for a while and as for Y/n, she hugged him back like if her life depended on it.

With a gentle kiss on the female's forehead, Wakatoshi spoke, "I will be winning my next match. I will be winning it on behalf of you. My victory is also yours."

The reasoning behind his words is that he knew that Y/n can't do the one thing that she loves, so because of that, Wakatoshi would do it for her.
