The olive haired male slightly shook his head at the female who always sat in his seat. He wouldn't admit it but, her sitting there wasn't much of a problem anymore.

The male didn't feel anything towards it; he just let her have it and he would always settle for the seat in front.

"Your hair is a mess, L/n." Wakatoshi bluntly stated. This made Y/n drop her book and deadpan at the guy in front of her.

"You don't think I know that? I spent whole night studying for my exams today." She explained which was followed by a sigh.

Y/n didn't really expect a response from him, she knew that Wakatoshi knew his work. He was consistent in studying because he followed a schedule.

The male just merely blinked, there was silence between the two before he said, "I believe that you will do good."

Mao sensei spoke as he stood from his chair, he was previously dormant in, "This is just a reminder that Friday is the submission date for the project that I assigned last month."

If it wasn't for Wakatoshi's calm exterior, most people would question the shocked look on his face.

He had been on top of everything; his classes, his homework, his exams so how did this one project blip out of his mind?

The extra practice he had been putting in for the spring tournament had been affecting him in school more than he thought.

It has seemed to slip Y/n's as well if she didn't remind him of the project.

Ushijima wasn't really paying attention; he was more thinking of how they were going to get it done for Friday.

Each pair was assigned five questions total that was based on the play 'The Tempest' and the answer for each was supposed to be a minimum of two pages.

With all his calculations, he deemed it almost impossible to write that much within two days. Wakatoshi sighed and ran a hand down his face in mere frustration.

"Of course, you can hand it up before the deadline which some of you have done. I'll call the names to confirm the submissions." Mao sensei stated to his class before he messily ruffled through some papers on his desk; seemingly looking for a specific one.

When he found the desired page, the elder male started to list the early submissions.

Wakatoshi's eyes squinted in confusion when both his and Y/n's names were called. Though he wanted to question the girl now, he waited until the dismissal of class.

As Ushijima packed up his belongs, he saw the female already heading out. In quickening his pace, he slid a strap over his shoulder in a smooth motion before going after the female.

He saw her in the distance and questioned how she had reached so far ahead.

Y/n accidentally dropped the books in her hands, cringing as the stationary made contact with the floor.

She mumbled to herself as she knelt down to pick them up and to also inspect them, to ensure that none of the pages ripped or were bent.

In front of her were a trio of her fellow mates talking amongst themselves.

The girl paid them no mind though they were talking ridiculously loud for everyone to hear. However, when she heard Ushijima's name being used in the conversation, she couldn't help but slow her movements to listen.

"There's no way that L/n Y/n is with him." the male in the trio spoke, "Girls prefer to go out with someone who actually expresses emotions."

The other two just laughed in response when one of the girls replied, "Exactly. Ushijima is really good looking, but all of that doesn't matter if your only personality is volleyball."

It was then the other female in the group agreed and added, "Plus the guy's scary too. He seems like he's always judging."

Subconsciously, Y/n had been gripping on her books tightly with every word the came out of their mouths.

The male scoffed and waved the other two off, "Maybe that's why he's been in this school for so long and can't get a girl."

That was final straw for her. The h/c haired girl slammed her books against the floor once more; thereby gaining the attention of the trio in front of her.

Y/n stood to her feet immediately with a livid aura radiating from her, "Do any of you know Ushijima-kun personally?"

The girl took their silence as a clear indicater that they did not, "While you're here bad mouthing him, he's working towards becoming the best volleyball player out here. When he's being interviewed on television, where are you all going to be?"

"Don't talk as if you know Ushijima-kun, because if any of you did; you wouldn't have said such things about him." The female then picked up her books and looked to them one final time, "Any girl deserving of him would be lucky to have him."

The anger she felt clouded her other senses, hence why she didn't realise that a lot of people looked at her tell off the trio of friends; a lot of people that included Wakatoshi.

The girl stormed off to her favourite place in Shiratorizawa, under the Sakura tree. She plopped down on the grass with a huff.

Y/n took out her nebulizer and placed it on her face, steadily breathing for a couple moments before hurriedly stuffing it back in her bag.

After a couple of moments of silence, Y/n saw the silhouette of something casting on the book she was writing in. When she looked up, she was greeted by the sight of olive eyes on her.

"Ah, Wall-san. What's up?" Y/n beamed at him and to her surprise, he sat next to her.

He inhaled the fresh scent of the greenery and a tiny bit of the girl's perfume. He liked how the wind brushed against his face and now understood why the female spends her time under that tree.

"I am confused as to why sensei called us earlier." Wakatoshi said with a slight scratch of his head.

Y/n wheezed at the male's obliviousness and waved him off, "That's because we did hand up a project."

Ushijima blinked, clearly still in confusion and she smiled at that, "I did it for us, Wall-san."

"I know you've been busy with training for the Spring Tournament, so I didn't want you to worry about it." Y/n shrugged it off and acted like it was nothing, though she was slightly embarrassed at the last part she had said.

"You should have told me something earlier, L/n, instead of doing all of the work yourself." Ushijima said.

The girl's face dropped at his words, and she leaned back on the tree trunk with a huff.

She then felt a hand on top her head, it sat there gently as Y/n looked to the male.

"Thank you. Your efforts are greatly appreciated." the male praised. As he was was about to take his hand off, he found himself pushing back a strand of her h/c hair out of her face.

Despite the clear flustered look on her face, Y/n still had it in her to make one jab, " Let's just hope I didn't set us up to get a 'F'."

The male frowned at her words which in turn made her grin. She patted the side of his face playfully and chuckled, "I'm messing with you. I actually put a lot of effort into it."

The male hummed and his eyes averted from hers to the book on her hands. He then pointed to it and asked, "What is this you are always reading?"

Y/n flipped the book shut and showed him the cover of it, "You should read it." the girl recommended, " It should satisfy a literature chap like yourself."

"It is that good?" Wakatoshi question which Y/n vigorously nodded in response to, "How much times have you read it?"

Y/n merely blinked at him, similarly to how Ushijima does, "That is classified information. If I tell you I might have to kill you."

This made the corners of the male's lip curve into a slight smile. "I will take the chance."

The bell rang, indicating that lunch had now finished, and students should now wrap up to head back to class.

Ushijima had told her to meet him by the front gates after school since it was a rest day for the volleyball members.

After the school day, she had gone to where he requested and for certain there he was, standing near the entrance gates waiting for her.

He was occupied by what he was watching on his phone. Y/n knew he was watching one of his latest matches, criticizing himself and mentally noting his mistakes.

Once his head rose from his phone, he immediately pulled the white wired earbuds from his ears and put the phone away.

He gestured to the in front of him as a sign for her to start walking first.

On good days where the weather is clear, after school they head to the lookout by the park to watch the sunset per Y/n's request and nagging.

So there is where they headed to. As they approached the hidden trail, Wakatoshi looked to the sky.

"L/n, the sky is becoming dark. It wouldn't be the best idea to do this today." suggested the male as he followed behind her.

Y/n shook her head and kept walking, "It's fine, Ushijima. We're already here."

She beamed to male and dragged him to their spot, under the Sakura tree.

They sat only for a couple of minutes when she slowly realized that male beside her may have been right.

Instead of coloured hues of yellow, pink and orange;it had been overtaken by dark grey clouds that inched above their heads.

Drop by drop the rain fell, spotting on the pair's skin before it fell rather harshly.

"Since when rain killed anyone, huh?" Y/n chuckled as they stood to their feet and walked out of the trail.

Their clothes stuck to their skin and their hair was drenched as they looked for shelter.

"There is a bus shelter nearby, we may have to run to it." The male suggested.

Y/n eyes widened at the mention of running and quickly waved him off, "No. I can't do that. You go ahead, I'll catch up."

Ushijima brows furrowed as he neared to the female, " You will catch a cold, we have to start running now."

"I said I'll catch up." She repeated slowly as if he would understand better if she said it in that manner.

With now a stern face, his deep voice was laced with a serious tone; it was like Ushijima was growing annoyed by her behaviour.

Annoyed that he had to stay in the rain trying to pursue her to do a simple action like running; to him it was ridiculous, "Now, L/n. I will not repeat myself."

"I can't run, Ushijima!" Y/n subconsciously yelled and immediately regretted her tone, "I'm sorry. I just can't run. It's not good for me."

Wakatoshi understood that whatever it was, it was the reason she couldn't play volleyball. Now that he has thought about it, the male never saw her do any physical activity. Ever.

She wasn't even in a Physical Education class. Every second they stood there talking, it was a second, they were soaking in the dread rain.

Ushijima took of his blazer in a motion and quickly put on her. The girl blinked as he did so, "W-what are you doing?"

After Wakatoshi pushed her arms in the sleeves of his blazer, he knelt down before her; his back facing her.

"You're doing things and not talking, what am I supposed to do here?" Y/n said in a loud manner for him to hear over the sound of the rain.

"You're supposed to get on, L/n." Wakatoshi exhaled harshly in slight frustration.

When he felt her on his back, he secured the girl by gripping her thighs to keep her up.

Ushijima started to run straight to the bus shelter that he knew that was nearby. Y/n had her arms around the male's neck loosely as he did.

Within seconds the small shelter came into view and Ushijima gently placed her down on the bench. As he turned to face her, Wakatoshi realized how much Y/n shivered and he immediately felt bad.

He sat down next to her guiding the female's head to his shoulder, then Ushijima cupped her hands in his to blow his warm breath on it.

After a while of this, Y/n raised her head and looked to the male, their faces inches apart. The girl saw that despite his stoic exterior, he swallowed harshly, indicating his nervousness.

In thinking that the male was uncomfortable, he retracted her head and smiled to him, "Thank you, Ushijima." she said, "And I'm sorry. If we had gone home like you said, we wouldn't be here."

"Apologies are said when one does wrong." said Wakatoshi, "You haven't done anything wrong."

Ushijima meant that. Sure, there was a possibility that one or both of them might catch a cold but other than that, he was internally glad that they were in that position.

The rain eased and then eventually stopped. The two deemed it clear to start walking again. Y/n was so happy to finally get home so she could take off her drenched clothes to wear drier ones.

As they approached the end of the female's driveway, they came to a stop.

The girl hugged Ushijima suddenly, catching him by surprise. He hugged her back gently. When she let go, she saluted him, "Thanks for everything, captain."

She slightly jogged to her front door where she waved a final goodbye. However, she wasn't expecting to receive a wave in return.
