Even on the most bare and gloomy, slow paced days...days where the skies pour down to dampen our flower pots, and the fresh cold blows of winter have us shivering for the craving of warmth. On the worst days, there will always be a gleaming bustle of life within the city streets.

And when you take a chance to really experience the city, and not live within it. Your perspective can change dramatically.

Screens with glaringly bright advertisements play on repeat for everyone stalking the streets below, they rotate with your gaze and follow your eyes for optimal promotion. Eye-catching outrageous patterns of colour background the images of the news headlines playing endlessly.

In this moment of life within the damp streets of the city that many would be rushing to get out of the horrid weather, the world had seemed to come to a halt, everywhere I looked people were frozen in motion of their previous endeavours. We all took to the streets, our eyes worshipping these blaring screens that displayed the very disturbing and real news that has shifted a universal view of our reality.

The reality where we have come to know the existence of animal-human hybrids.

...Breaking news: the national scientific agency proclaim to have discovered six new types of A-H hybrids across the country...this comes as a great effort spent researching the scientific phenomenon after the number of hybrid attack claims continue to rise since their discovery almost six months ago...

A crowd had formed, collectively gasping at the reporters clear and concise words. I took a quick glance at the scene around me, many watched the screen with open mouths and widened eyes, hushed commentary erupted as the strangeness of this quite new and worrying scenario garnered quite the debate with every new speck of development.

"This is awful...surely something is being done about this by now?"

"But what can be done? we cannot simply cull them off? they're like us!"

"I'd say we should, they are murderers and should be treated as such!"

There were so many thoughts, I couldn't even place myself in all of this.

...Just today; two men were found mauled to death by an unspecified wild hybrid. According to the locals, the men were seen 'teasing' or 'testing' the hybrid as it had just hours before the attack...

...Scientists claim the hybrid was known to stalk the outskirts of the local village in the hopes of finding food for winter. Ex founder of the NSA; Dr Francis Levine has a strong message for others willing to try and feed and domesticate the hybrids...

..."Hybrids are more animal than human, their existence through a mysterious unnatural phenomenon is a great discomfort, to us and to the creatures themselves as it completely displaces them as a crossover between the animal and human world. While my foundation, the Levine foundation are researching to find out the extent of this most strange scientific abnormality, we recommend not to encounter the hybrids in any situation."

The news kept rolling on and on...I didn't realise I had faded into a trance-like state of thought until time had passed on by, and by then, the rain had picked up again. The street screens played advertisements again, and the once inanimate scene was gradually moving back to life.

It's crazy what that kind of shock does to you, you forget everything else. The days events simply slip away from mind and you are left blank, thoughtless, almost like starting your day all over again. And so, to gather myself...to re-introduce myself to the day's hours still ahead of me... gripping the bags in my hands and headed towards the train station to continue my journey home.

The way home is always peaceful...the way home lulls my worries away.
