Again, thank you all for the amount of feedback on the last chapter. Victoria is now #7 in General Fiction.👏🏾

Song for majority of Victoria and James' relationship is T.L.C. by Tory Lanez. Almost of the flashbacks will be related to the song.

It's been a little over 1 year and a half since Victoria left James. They'd been in a relationship for 3 years. It took him 6 months to get with her. That's 5 years in total.

Omniscient

21 year old Victoria sat in the car with her best friend, Dasani.

The two college seniors had been best friends since the 6th grade, and had no plans of ending their long term relationship any time soon.

Victoria took a drag of the blunt before passing it to Dasani who sat in the passenger seat.

It wasn't surprising that they had access to weed- they were in college. There would be much worse stuff in the party.

Unfortunately, they were sitting outside in the car, courtesy of none other than Victoria.

"I don't wanna be here," Victoria spoke, leaning her head back onto the headrest of her seat.

"Well that's too damn bad." Dasani imitated the grandfather from Holes, causing the both of them to laugh.

"You need to get out and have some fun, Tori. You barely come out the apartment unless you're going to class or home," Dasani pouted at her best friend.

It was no secret that Victoria was an introvert and somewhat of a pessimist who hated parties because she always unwillingly thought of the worst case scenarios.

She'd rather be in her bed, watching tv or something.

"Stop lookin' at me like that, Dee."

Ignoring Victoria's command, Dasani continued to pout, making her puppy eyes more adorable, and also making it harder for Victoria to resist.

"Okay damn," Victoria exclaimed, taking the keys out of the ignition.

She unhooked her car key from the key ring and stuck it in her bra before putting the rest of the keys in the glove department.

Victoria grabbed her iPhone 4 from the cup holder and got out of the car.

"Annoyin' ass," she mumbled under her breath as she applied Chapstick to her lips.

Since it was the middle of November and somewhat of a light breeze outside, she wore high waisted shorts, a cropped sweatshirt with the school's name on it that stopped an inch below the top of her shorts, and crisp, high top Converse.

Her hair was in a high ponytail with semi-defined curls since she didn't feel like twisting her natural hair up the night before.

"What you say, trick," Dasani questioned.

"I said I hope this party is over fast."

"Mhm. Come on."

The two girls danced through the party and toward the kitchen as My Chick Bad by Ludacris played loudly.

"Oooh, look at them damn dogs."

Victoria looked up from the strawberry margarita flavored wine cooler that had her attention, to the dance floor where Dasani was staring.

The Gamma Phi Gamma fraternity pledges, who were covered in the colors of the fraternity, was finishing up their chant. The rest of the Gamma men stood off to the side, cheering them on and occasionally doing the moves with them.

They were also known as the Dogs.

And that's exactly what they were; dogs.

It's like each one of the Gammas lured women in with their charm, that neck roll, and let's not forget that tongue... before ruining their lives.

Victoria had heard of their reputations, and she was not interested in dating or coming close to talking to one of them on that level.

No matter how fine they were, it simply bothered her how somebody could sex a different female every day of the week, treat women like trash, and think that shit was cute.

Absolutely not.

When Victoria heard the crowd erupt in cheers and their barking, she knew it was time for her to step out of the way because all of them would be coming into the kitchen soon.

As expected, the barking continued as the Gamma men walked into the kitchen, glistening because of the sweat on their foreheads.

"We are the scrollers don'tcha know, and we are here to give a show," another fraternity began their chants.

" 'Scuse me."

It took him to say that two times before Victoria noticed that he was talking to her because she couldn't hear over the constant yelling.

"My bad," she spoke, stepping from in front of the cooler she had no idea she was standing by, since there were several others all around the kitchen.

She also had no idea why he'd chose to come to the one by her when all the others had the same things in them; beer and wine cooler.

My goodness, do they ever shut the hell up? Victoria wondered, tossing the empty wine cooler bottle into the trash can on the side of her.

She glanced around the room, looking for Dasani. Victoria saw Dasani talking to a dude that had on a black and gold Alpha Phi jacket, not too far from her.

"Eventually," the unknown man spoke with a smile on his face, eyeing Victoria like she was a piece of meat.

"Oh shit, I said that out loud didn't I? My bad, didn't mean to offend," Victoria spoke laughing a little.

"It's fine, beautiful," he smiled, "I'm James Jones, and you are?"

Victoria already knew his name because they had a class together, but she wasn't gonna feed his ego like he was most likely used to.

"Victoria. Victoria Marshall." She slowly shook his hand that he'd extended to her.

"Nice to meet you."

From the moment that he'd walked into the kitchen James had his eyes on her. In his senior year as well, he was becoming stressed out with school work and his extra curricular activities, resulting in him needing a stress reliever.

For him to walk in the kitchen and see a fine ass, thick woman like Victoria made his mouth water and his piece jump in his pants.

However, he didn't know that Victoria was not like all the other insecure, easy women that he'd encountered. She was raised by a strong, honorable, black man who made it his duty to instill self love and self respect into his children.

Victoria wasn't one night stand material. She was a woman who demanded respect, especially from a man, and more than a smile and a cute face to impress her.

"Mhm. You need something," she questioned, grinning in his face like the rest of the groupies that he'd smashed and threw away the next day.

James licked his lips and grinned, thinking that he had found his victim of the night, "I mean, what you doing after this?"

"Going to my dorm."

Nodding, he reached his hand in the front pocket of Victoria's shorts, grabbing her phone.

"What you doin', James," Victoria questioned, rolling her eyes on the slick.

He really thinks I'm about to let him hit. Victoria thought.

"What's ya' dorm number?"

She laughed at his anxiousness, making him furrow his eyebrows in confusion.

"What you laughing at?"

"You thought I was easy, but I'm not. And I'm not interested in somebody who doesn't even wanna get to know me before tryna smash. I don't want you, dog."

Victoria grabbed her phone out of James' hand as he stood there, shocked.

Being who he was, James had come accustomed to being around women who desired him.

Women who needed him.

And then there was Victoria who'd just turned him down. That angered him to the upmost.

"Oh, aight," he spoke with a devious smirk on his face as he watched Victoria and Dasani dance out of the kitchen.

From that very moment, James began plotting his vengeance.

Kareem

"Am I cookin' or you?"

"Why is your phone in your hand while you're driving Kareem," Victoria questioned through the phone, making me look around subconsciously.

I don't know why she talkin' when she does the same damn thing.

"It's not," I spoke, hurriedly removing the phone from my ear and plugging the aux cord into it.

"Yeah, yeah, whatever. You getting Kai tonight, huh?"

"Mhm, I got her for the whole week. I'm pulling up right now."

It was Friday, the start of spring break for Kai. She wanted to come with me for the whole week, instead of just for the second half like she usually does during breaks.

"I wanna take her shopping and to the movies. She showed me her progress report last week and her grades are great."

Another admirable thing about Victoria was that she accepted my daughter as her own.

It's not common for somebody with child to get into a relationship, and then their boyfriend or girlfriend not try to take their attention off of the child.

Besides the fact that Victoria was doing Kai's hair every two weeks, which she'd also stopped accepting money for, she liked to spend time with her and make sure that everything was going well in school.

"Sounds good to me."

I heard Vanessa's loud mouth in the background and then Victoria said something back before they started having a full blown conversation.

Rude asses.

This happened often, which is one reason why I'd rather see my lady in person.

Also because I wanted to grab the booty.

"Victoria."

"Victoria DeShay."

"DeShay!"

"Hold up, Vanessa. Got damn, Kareem. What you need, baby?"

My face tuned up at the sound of that, "You forgot you on the phone or somethin'?"

"Oh," she laughed like the shit was funny, "Look up The Hunger Games movie times for later tonight."

"I really don't wanna see that shit, but okay."

"Boy, bye."

After we hung up the phone, I cut the car off before getting out and walking up the driveway of Layla's house.

"Hi, dad."

Before I could get all the way to the door, it was pulled open by Kai, who had a wide grin on her face.

Her hair was in Savana Twists or some shit like that, courtesy of Victoria.

I was surprised that Layla ain't cut 'em out by the way she was acting when she and Victoria first met. I guess she's actually chillin' with the petty shit after our lil talk.

Let's get something understood...

I have absolutely no feelings for the mother of my child. The only reason that we are still even within a 100 mile radius of each other is because of Kai Ayanna Thompson. We have come to a conclusion that we won't get involved in each other's relationships, unless it concerns our child. That means meeting each other's significant other, and making sure that the relationship is serious before Kai meets them.

Well it didn't go like that for me, but still...

Layla's little man friends, or whatever she calls them are never, and will never be around my child before I meet them and get a background check done. Layla is more than aware of the fact that I don't play behind my daughter. She also knows that if anything happens under her supervision, I will probably wring her neck.

Everything is chill right now though, so I'm not complaining.

Victoria and Layla even had a long ass conversation about the well-being of Kai on my phone once, running up my damn minutes.

"Hi, Kai," I spoke with a smile on my face, mocking her tone before picking her up and embracing her in a hug.

My baby was growing up too damn fast, man. I thought, as I placed her back on the ground.

"What I tell you about opening this door, Kai," Layla questioned, coming from the back of the house with Kai's duffle bags in her hand.

"My bad, momma," she spoke, turning around with that damn smirk on her face, making those beautiful dimples deeper. She tilted her head to the side and batted her eyelashes that covered her hazel eyes that she'd inherited from my grandmother.

"Mhm, yo bad. I love you, have fun and be good,' Layla spoke, giving her a tight hug and a kiss. When they released, she handed the bags to me.

"I love you too, momma."

"How was ya week, babe?"

The three of us were in the truck, on the way to the mall so they could spend my money. Since Victoria only accepted the cards, flowers, and bears that I'd gotten her for Christmas and Valentine's Day, and not the 'expensive' gifts, as she calls them, I wanted to spoil her too- even though she would most likely try and refuse.

She always told me that the money didn't impress her, the emotions, communication, and passion did. Not that out relationship was lacking any of those things, I just wanted to get through to her that I understand she has her own, and I'm fucking with that, heavily. But as her man, I wanna give her anything she wants and desires all while she spoils herself as well.

"It was good," she leaned forward as far as the seat belt would let her, trying to whisper in Victoria's ear, "At lunch today my friend Jacorey told me he liked me and he bought me a fruit roll up."

I looked in the rear view mirror at Kai, "Tell Jacorey Ima whoop his ass-"

I was cut off by Victoria putting her hand over my mouth. I licked it and she kept it there, making me give her the side eye.

"Shut up, Kareem, " she tried to hold in her laugh as she looked back at Kai who was mugging me.

I mugged her lil ass back. Fuck I look like?

"He's not gonna do nothin', Kai. Tell me more about him."

Continuing to drive, I listened and watched as my pride and joy and the woman who I'm sure I was falling in love with more and more by the day talked and laughed together.

My beautiful ladies.
