Victoria's POV

"How much longer are you gonna be? My next one is at 4."

It was Thursday, and I was at the shop as usual. Thursday's are usually dedicated to my older clients.

I don't like for them to come closer to the weekend because it gets pretty busy and I want them to be in a relaxed and comfortable environment.

Close to the end of February, Kareem and I had been together for almost 2 months, and I was genuinely happy.

He treated me with respect, and he genuinely cared about me.

"Um... Don't rush me." I could hear him smile through the phone.

"Kareem, I'm serious," I stated but I couldn't help but laugh.

Kareem had offered to bring me something to eat, and I wanted him to be here before my next client came so that I could grub.

I already wasn't really a breakfast person, and then I was running late, so that messed me up for the day.

"I'll be there in about an hour."

"Are you serious-"

"I'm just playin', baby," he spoke before I heard the front door of the shop open.

"Hey, Kareem."

Well damn.

Can he get all the way through the door first? Thank you.

Kareem nodded at whoever said that, and then spoke to Vanessa, "How you doin', Vanessa?"

"I'm good, brudda in law."

The two of them dapped each other up before Vanessa left to go to class, and Kareem walked over and stood in front of me.

I rolled my eyes, grabbed my Popeye's from him and sat it down so that I could continue sweeping hair up.

"I don't get a kiss?"

"You deserve one?"

He straight faced me, "Aw, is my baby mad?"

"Nope."

"Why you always lyin'," Kareem sang, making me crack a smile.

I walked closer to Kareem, wrapped my arms around him, and laid my head on his chest.

That was honestly my favorite thing to do besides kiss his juicy lips.

Being in his arms made me feel at ease, safe, and peaceful. I felt like he would never do me wrong, never hurt me, never do anything like that.

But you know, you can never be too sure.

Kareem unwrapped one of his arms from around me before lifting my head from his chest and kissing my lips.

"How has ya day been so far?"

"It's been alright, I can't complain."

"That's good. What time you gonna be done here?"

"Around five thirty."

I walked over to the dryers where one of my clients was getting a silk wrap, and turned the dryer off.

"Okay, come on to the chair so I can unwrap you."

Miss Celine nodded before grabbing her book and soda and getting up to walk back to my station.

"Kareem, what you doing here?"

"Oh shoot, hey momma."

My eyes widened at the sound of that. I've been doing Miss Celine's hair for about a year and a half and I would've never guessed that Kareem and Kaseem were her sons.

But then again, she was a private lady. That was something that I admired because most of my older clients did not know how to hold water, and from the conversations that we've had, I felt like I knew their families personally.

"Momma?"

"Oh yes, Victoria. This is my oldest baby. And let me guess, he's the reason you been so cheesy lately," she questioned with a smile on her face, all while getting comfortable in the chair.

"Mhm, I sure am." He tried to sneak and pinch my booty, but his mom saw him.

"Kareem Alexander Thompson. Do it, I dare you," Miss Celine spoke, making him quickly drop his hand.

"Alexander." I had to hold in my laugh.

I already knew his middle name, but he didn't like it. And to see his face when his mom said it had me dying.

"Boy, gone somewhere," I spoke when he started rubbing on my booty.

When he didn't stop, I was forced to elbow him in the stomach.

It's not that I didn't like the feeling, because I really did. It's just that people were staring, and it was real hard to focus on not accidentally poking his mother in the head with my comb.

I heard his deep chuckle before he appeared on the side of me," Oh it's like that?"

I ignored him with a smirk on my face, and continued to make sure Miss Celine's hair was full of volume before spraying some hair glosser, and then finally taking the towel from around her shoulders.

"Gorgeous as usual, Victoria. The same as last time right?"

"Yes ma'am," I spoke as I put the products that I'd used, back where they belong.

"I got it," Kareem spoke as he raised my smock up a little and slipped some money in my back pocket, slick rubbing my booty in the process.

I feel like his favorite thing to do is rub my backside.

But I ain't complaining.

I reached in my pocket, getting ready to pull the money out so that I could give it back to Kareem but he shot me a look as he motioned for Miss Celine to put her money back in her purse.

Oh goodness that look.

"Kareem-" Miss Celine spoke when she saw the look that Kareem gave me, and he cut her off.

"Bye momma."

"Boy don't dismiss me," she pinched him on his back, making him grunt in pain, "I guess I'll be seeing both of y'all tomorrow night."

My eyebrows furrowed, "What's tomorrow night."

"Oh, we going to a party at my people's house."

"How you know I'm not busy?"

"I checked your schedule."

I straight faced Kareem and then gave Miss Celine a hug before she left.

Lord, please don't let his family be assholes.

"Call me when you leave here, and pull up to my crib."

"And if I don't?"

"Girl, boo," Kareem plucked my forehead before wrapping his arms around me once again and poking his lips out,"Gimmie kiss."

"Gimmie got his neck broke."

Now it was his turn to straight face me. After out staring contest that lasted for about 7 seconds, I gave in and pecked his lips a few times.

"That was actually weak as fuck, but I know you tryna be professional in your place of business, so I'll take what I can get."

"See you in a few."
