I decided to surprise Emery Saturday. So I woke up early to make pancakes for my family and for Emery and her brothers.

I cheerfully got out of my car and knocked the on the door while balancing the plate of the stack of pancakes. Ethan answered and let me in and immediately took the pancakes to "help me". More like eat them. He told me that Aiden went for a run and Emery was sleeping in. So I went up to Emery's room to wake her up.

I plopped down on her bed and poked her, I've been told by my siblings that I'm good at getting people cranky in the morning by how I wake them up. Oh well. So I just kept poking her and even hugged her, all I got was a bunch of mumbling to stop waking her up. So of course I hit her with a pillow which immediately woke her up.

"What the heck was that for," she said rubbing her eyes.

"I just wanted to surprise you," I replied before giving her a kiss on the cheek.

"We'll you definitely surprised me with that pillow," she replied, giving me a cute smile.

She got out of bed and went to go brush her teeth while I looked at her book shelf. After 4 minutes I got impatient and went to hug Emery waist as she was wiping the water off her face. She gave me another adorable smile and I turned her around to give her a sweet kiss. My hands naturally went around her neck to pull her closer as she held on to my waist. After a while we broke apart to breath and I lead Emery out of her room to go eat pancakes. But as we were walking out of her room I noticed she was wearing just a t-shirt and shorts, which she never does. Then I saw the tattoo of a beautiful, colorful feather on her left upper arm nearing her shoulder and also a quote with it. I looked down at her leg and her left thigh was covered with an elegant rose and compass tattoo surrounding another quote. Wow, she just got super-hot. Aside from my hormones shooting through the roof, I wanted to know more about these tattoos.

So I stopped her and gently put my hand on her tattoo, gently tracing it. She seemed a little shocked and realized she wasn't wearing a long sleeve shirt.

"You never show these tattoos. Why not? They are beautiful," I tell her.

"Not everyone would understand why," she replied.

"I bet if you let me, I would," I replied intertwining my hand in hers.

"After the car accident I had to get surgeries and had a many scars, so I decided to cover them up with tattoos. I chose to look at meaningful symbols for me that remind me of the good times instead of remembering the horrors of the scars." She said.

I gave her a soft smile and thanked her for telling me and asked,

"What does the feather and quote mean to you?"

"The feather means my freedom. From my dad, from the dysfunctional family we used to have, from Liam, from the accident and from my mental illness. And the quote, "How lucky I am to have a hard time to say goodbye" is for Danny. When we were younger, we used to love watching Winnie the Pooh and the quote came from there. And the quote on my leg is what my mom told me the first day I woke up from the comma after the accident and everything around it was to cover up the scars." She said.

I didn't say anything at all. Instead, I just hugged her tight. This girl has been through so much than I could have ever imagined and she still has become such a genuine good hearted person.

I then pulled her in for a deep kiss. I wanted to show how much I cared for her and wanted to reassure her I'd always be here. We broke away held hands as we went down to have some pancakes.

I love the way she's opening up to me. She's becoming such a beautiful person before my eyes and I can't help but feel lucky that she's my girlfriend.
