The good news was that by morning she was feeling more like herself.

He hadn't gotten her joke and if she was lucky, he didn't notice her lapse in judgement while in his arms.

He was stuck on her almost dying.

Dude was clearly upset over how fragile humans were. Not that they were harder to kill off. He said that his people had more sense than to get themselves killed.

She let his down putting remark go since she had given him such a fright.

Committee ran over, so all their people could lecture her people on safety. All his people watching her like any moment she might keel over.

She had news for his people. Kell was upset. That was a feeling. Maybe they didn't have enough sense to know that.

Hell, what did they think Savion's gift was?

But whatever, she stopped trying to get a word in a while back. Right now, she watched Savion. He had calmed the whole room when he walked in.

Kell's tense shoulders had eased instantly.

Savion was doing wonders helping Mel sleep at night but his wouldn't be the powers she'd want. If she'd been with him last night, she'd be a broken mess right now.

One at peace, but still a broken mess.

In just a blink, Kell had caught her and deposit them back in her room. Easy breezy. No sweat.

That was hot.

She wondered what Alric's gift was. If all royals had one, then he would too. It was like knowing some x men.

"Human Jessalynn, we need an answer from you."

Yeah, no listening being done here. She got up and paced to the other side of the room. "I say it's time we get to the root of the problem."

Jess stopped beside Malania. One of the younger women on their side of the room. She always reminded Jess of Princess Leia on Star Wars because she wore some of her braids up in buns on each side of her head. "Don't you think so?"

"If it pleases you."

Jess had to bite her bottom lip to keep from smiling. "Exactly." She walked up behind grandfather time and threw her arm over his shoulders. "Elrichcon." She probably hadn't said that right. "Why don't you tell us what that is."

When he paused, she gave him an encouraging squeeze. "You can say it. We all know what it is."

"We all must keep working at learning about each other."

"Exactly. Tell me, Elrichcon, have you been doing your homework? Who was our last president?"

"President?"

"Exactly. I'm studying about Syrian history. Kell is studying about human history but what about the elders? You're the ones we look to for answers. We need you to care enough to know about our history. Our ways."

She looked across the room. The new guy was army. He was frowning at her, clearly on to her. "Lt. Dan, do you know that they have a King and a set of advisors? Do you know how their kings are chosen? Have any of you even met him?"

He crossed his arms over his chest. "Sergeant Jackson. No. I didn't know any of that."

"That's what I thought. Maybe we should think about that. We'll talk about this again tomorrow. We have accomplished much. Everyone is dismissed."

Pleased with herself, when everyone did get up to leave, she headed for the door.

You know who, stopped her getaway.

"Jessalynn, stay."

Her eyes rolled towards the heavens. He was entirely too bossy. She plopped into one of the vacant seats as he waited for everyone to clear out.

"Dez, how about some supernatural? I need a Dean fix. And hook me up with some popcorn."

"Not now, Jessalynn. You were asked an important question and I expect an answer."

"Better repeat it then."

"You will not go up on the roof anymore."

"Where's the question in that?" She asked dryly.

"Your agreement is needed."

"Fine. Whatever. Can I go now?" You couldn't pay her ass to go back up there. Mom didn't raise a fool.

"If it pleases you, I would like you to stay for the next meeting."

She'd rather eat chocolate cover frog tongues, but she guessed it was no worse than class. No wonder these people were so uptight. Work and meetings. Meetings and work.

They needed some playtime.

The next meeting was a smaller group. Four of their kind, four of her kind plus Frey and Pensley.

Everyone but Kellum stood and with a soft smile Frey motioned for her to do the same. All the seats disappeared except for four across the room. A door opened and three men and Savion walked out. They crossed the room and took the seats.

"We've seen the reports and have concerns. Damick, could you begin by telling us what transpired between you and your match the human Alyssa?"

"As you like. I will do the best I can. The human Alyssa dropped something, and I was returning the item to her."

His glance repeatedly kept coming back again and again to the other human girl. "When our hands met I. . . . felt jittery. Unpleasant yet pleasant at the same time."

"This happened more than once?"

"It has. It has happened two other times. Once when my arm touched hers and once when my shoulder brushed hers."

"And it is true that the human Alyssa has not received your mate mark?"

"That is true, Advisor Demetruisu."

"Dezrick, what is their match numbers?"

"Ninety-three percent."

"Alright. Monark, this has happened to you as well?"

"Only once, Advisor Birkett. It was fleeting and I am not sure exactly what it was."

"Has the human Carrie received your mate mark yet?"

"No."

"Dezrick, his numbers?"

"Ninety-One percent.'

"Advisor Demetruisu, you and the others advisors believe these experiences have to do with the more compatible of a match?" Kell questioned the group.

"After our research, we do. No one with scores lower than ninety has encountered any of these disturbances."

"If that is the case, will these disturbances continue?"

"We cannot be sure. We would advise everyone from touching their matches until the problem can be farther evaluated."

"And the disturbances happening when two matches are not touching?"

"There's only been one such report. From a match with unusually high numbers. We can only hope that will not happen again."

Savion gave a nod towards Kellum. "We still believe these matches to be sound and true. We will keep on top of the problem."

"We want your meetings with Frey and Pensley to continue." The older guy across the room stated.

All of them stood and left the room. No one else moved.

Jess had mixed feelings about the whole thing.

"Kellum, were we just ordered to refrain from touching our mates?"

"Yes, if your numbers are higher than ninety. We will try to see to this situation as quickly as possible. You are excused."

She supposed this was good news for her and her hormones but it still kind of got her panties in a bunch, them thinking they could just forbid them to do something.

"Is that what you think of all this? Disturbances?"

It took him a long time to answer. "I have not decided yet. Damick is correct. It is pleasant and unpleasant."

She agreed so why did she feel like he had just let her down? "If that is all then I'm out of here."

"I will go back with you."

"No need. I can find my way."

"Jessalynn, do not be late today. Also, for the next week or so, your workout and training will be with the other class."

"Great. Can't wait."
