unselfish

       Grinning, she tucked herself closer to the big warm lump in the bed beside her.  She didn't know what she loved more.  The lump or the lump's bed.

       "I didn't bother reading the rule book, but I think I heard somewhere that guests weren't allowed in living quarters after dark.  Or in your bed, ever.  Sleeping in late, is frowned upon I'm sure.  Not to mention you've had to miss a few meetings by now.  Gasp, the horror of it."

       He tried to pull her closer, which was impossible, so he rolled over her.  He wore that smile she adored so much and the love in his eyes was nearly blinding.

       "I believe it is now time for a proper good morning."

       "I don't think that's in the handbook."

       "Then I will order it be added immediately."

       "Spoken like a true spoil brat.  Oops, sorry.  I meant future King."

       "Jessalynn."

       She rolled her eyes.  "Good morning, Kellum.  I don't think I've ever had such a restful night's sleep in my life."

       "Good morning, Jessalynn."  The kiss he gave her was as tender as the look he gave her. 

       As he took in everything about her, she blushed.  She could imagine how her hair must look.  He didn't seem to have any complaints as he kissed her again.

       "I have to go but I want a few promises from you first.  I want you to pass on committee today."

       "No problem there."

       "I want you to be on time for work out, with no plans on working out."

       "Again, no problem."

       "And I want you to be looking exactly like you do right now."

       Jess cringed for effect, but she really felt about ten feet tall.  Giddy.

       Dear Lord, someone is going to have to shoot her for real this time.  In the face because she was sure that stupid dreamy smile was back on her face.

       "Don't let the masters of the universe beat you down."

       Sighing, she watched him enter a small chamber that appeared out of the wall.  When he left it, he had a candora laying over his arm.

       "I'm sure big mouth has already let them know we spent the night together, so I won't be too offended if they want a virgin test ran or something.  Oh, that's right.  I wasn't a virgin.  I could wear a chastity belt."

       With one arm, he scooped her out of bed.  "I would be offended."

       She knew he meant this kiss to be a quick one but before long he was nibbling on her bottom lip.

       "Make sure you have breakfast.  Once I leave you can ask Dezrick for the bathing chamber."

       With a smile, a candora that must be hers appeared on his other arm.

       "Speaking of Dez, why isn't he harping at us?"

       "I turned him off.  I will see______."

       "Off?  There's a freaking off switch and you never told me?"

       After this last kiss, she was about to suggest they go back to bed when he took that moment to disappear.

       Dude was no fool.  Maybe a sexy ass tease but no fool.

       It took her no time at all to dress, but she still managed to miss her first two classes.  She might as well have missed the others because the last thing on her mind was school. 

       "What are you looking at?"

       Just staring off into space thinking about Kell but she wasn't going to tell him that.

       "What look were you going for?"

       She smiled sweetly because she knew how ridiculous she looked.  Yep.  She came to school with bed hair.  Not the first time.  She hardly touched a brush in the sixth grade.

       It wasn't that bad.  The only people who had noticed were Lee, Danoko and now Frick.

       Or were they the only ones rude enough to say anything?

       "Don't blame me, blame boy toy."

       "I saw him this morning.  He looked as goofy as you do."

       "I prefer the word sickening.  But today I've decided to own it.  Not even you and Dank can bring me down."

       The prick grinned.  "I heard about your fun with Danoko.  Everyone is talking about it.  His face is still red and splotchy.  His hands still shaking.  The same trick you played on me?"

       "Just a little fun."  She hadn't even had to go as far with him as she had to go with Frick.  A few whispers in his ear.  A hand on his thigh.  Boy, had over heated fast.

       Who would have thought it?

       Poor dolt had to be escorted to the infirmary.  His feminine eyes never leaving her until he was out of sight.

       Believe it or not if she had known any of that would happen, she wouldn't have had her fun.

       Okay, she probably would have.  That moment had been priceless.  Call them even for all those days he'd bore her to death.  But she still hadn't meant to cause any red flags.  She figured Kell had enough to deal with today.  "So, no chance that hasn't been brought to Kell's attention?"

       "No chance in hell.  There could be a plus side though.  A lot of people are thinking that anyone who can bring Danoko to life must be his mate.  The advisors may actually be feeling some hope.  They would wish you on anyone else but Kellum about right now."
        If this conversation couldn't wipe her smile off her face nothing could.  "Bite me."

       "I cannot.  I figured you are in enough trouble.  You know he hates for you to play that game with anyone but him."

       Her smile grew.  Yep.  Hot and bothered would come out to play.

       Julian and Hayley arrived together.

      Julian with a tray of food for Jess and love in his eyes.  Hayley was moaning and bitching over Jess's sickening smile.

       Jess said. "Oh, please.  You were practically drooling over Sinclair not even an hour ago."

       "Not drooling.  Though he is so drool worthy.  Have I mentioned it's been a really long time since_______?"

       "We don't want to hear about it." Jess cut off the other girl.

       "Let me borrow your extra plaything here and we can fix me right up."  Lee's look towards Julian suggested that she wasn't joking.

       And Jess could tell he wasn't as disgusted at the thought as she was.  Before she could throw up this morning's mush, she got the tingle that meant Kell was joining them for lunch.

       She shoved Godrick out of the way or tried to.  Luckily, he got the hint and moved over.  Even after all this time, that one still didn't know what to make of her.

       The look he gave Kell said as much but sweet lump never even noticed.

       He wouldn't have noticed if every girl in the room decided to eat lunch topless. 

       She must love him; she shared her lunch with him.

       All the talking they did was with looks and soft touches. 

       By the time, they got around to noticing the other people around them they were all gone except for Frick.

       "Did you tell her how busy you've been this morning?"  He went on before Kell could.  "He has made a book of suggestions for all of our kind who have a mate.  Plus, he stole Frey's bed from her and ordered her to share her mate's bed.  All so he could have a custom bed made for you."

       "That's so sweet.  You did that for...  wait.  They don't share a bed?"

       Still not giving Kell time to speak, Frick winked at her.  "Did you tell him how busy you've been this morning?"

       He received a fuck off for even bringing that up.  Jerk off.  Instead of Kell lecturing her, Frick disappeared, and he finally got around to kissing her.

       They were so lost in each other it was a while before he finally got around to growling at her.  "You touched him.  He's still in the infirmary."

       She refused to feel bad about it since Kell's no touchy thing never zinged her.  As far as she was concern that meant it was all harmless fun.  Anyway, Dank could use some excitement in his life.

       She kissed his chin.  His cheek.  "You're not really worried about Danoko, are you?"  Her hands glided up over his wide chest.  "I think you know who floats my boat."

       "I do not know how I lived all these years without you."

       "Your whole eighteen years?"  Her teasing mood was all for show.  "I feel the same way.  We need to have a talk tonight.  There's somethings that I haven't been ready to talk about, but I think I am now."

       "Tell me now."

       "I know you only have a few moments, and this is going to take some time.  You need time to get upset with me.  I need time to talk you out of being upset with me.  How unstable are the trolls?"

       "Very.  I ordered them to go spend extra time with their mates.  Except for Savion."

       "Good for you."

       "My motives were not completely unselfish."

       "Goody for me."

       "I needed to see you.  Even if only for a moment.  It has been brought to our attention that there has been an altercation in the city of Chicago.  A couple humans attacking my kind.  They have been apprehended but the advisors think it will be best if I go personally to escort them out of the boundaries and to reassure our people that situations like this will not be tolerated."

       "They want you to go?  Should I worry?"

       "Not at all.  We are peaceful but we know how to take care of ourselves.  In addition to Godrick and Kar, Pensley, Frey, Alric and Damous will be coming.  Alric and Damous both have gifts like mine so we will be perfectly safe."

       "What kind of gifts?"

       "Alric has an expanding shield.  Damous is stronger than the rest of us."

       "Like crush a building strong?"

       Kell chuckled.  "The things you think up.  I do not believe he has ever tried to crush a whole building, but a person would not want to be hit by him."

       "Cool.  Tell me what the old geezer can do."

       He kissed her nose.  "I'm going to be gone until sometime tomorrow and you want to spend our last few moments together talking about______."

       "Forget I asked."

       "If you need something send for Frick."  He pulled her closer.  "Tomorrow we will have that talk and we will skip over me getting upset and go straight to you talking me out of it."

       "Man of my own heart."  She lost the smile she'd been wearing all day.  "Can you tell Dezrick to notify me immediately if anything goes wrong?  I would want to know right away."

       "Dezrick, if something goes wrong, I want you to notify her before anyone else."

       "As you wish, future King."

       "Anything else?"

       "Bring me back a Chicago style deep dish pizza."  Sighing, she tucked herself into his arms.  "Just come back as soon as you can."
