Usually I've been able to read a book and escape the cold hard reality, but right now it almost seemed impossible.

I sat my book down and stared up at the clean white ceiling for the fifth time in the past hour. I wouldn't say I saw in a reading slump, I haven't read anything that would cause it. It's my mind won't stop racing around in circles with no sign of it slowing down.

I rolled over onto my side, letting out a grunt I'm frustration before picking up my book again.

It was another Markson book yet I still couldn't get into it. If my mind would take a breather even if it was for a few seconds I could actually dive in and concentrate for once.

My phone dinged and I groaned as I go look to she who was texting me at eight o' clock at night.

William 8:05
Get ready. I'll be by in twenty minutes.

Cassie 8:05
Why?

William 8:06
It's a surprise.

William 8:07
Wear something warm :)

I grumbled in frustration. I bookmarked my page and rolled off my bed onto the floor below me. No care whatsoever as I pulled myself off the ground and brushed off my sweats.

I walked over to the closet full with clothes Angie got for me. So feminine, fitting me in all the places I don't want to fit well. Yet this was my new wardrobe and I pretty much had no choice.

I pulled a tight black sweater off the rack and laid it vertical against my chest while checking myself out in the mirror. It was a cute sweater I'll give it that, but the front being cur into a triangle where my chest was suppose to hug against didn't seem practically. If I was going to wear a sweater it's because I want to be warm not showing any boob slips.

I examined the next sweater like outfit, again with the cuts in the back. I sighed before putting it back onto the rack next to the black one.

I finally pulled out a sparkly long sleeve top the color of snow and held it against my body. The sleeves were flowy kind of reminding me of the disco age, yet it still looked practical. It wasn't warm, but it was the most covering top I had in this brand new wardrobe so I went with it.

I paired the snow colored top with some black leggings and light brown boots with a small heel. It's gonna kill my feet, but it did make me grow an inch taller and they were cute. I braided my hair loosely letting it hang over my right shoulder. I grabbed my black beanie, a request I made to Angie right before she bought my new wardrobe, and put it on my head.

There was a knock on my door right after I finished spraying perfume all over my body. Of course it was William, who else would it be? But it still shocked me when I saw him wearing a long sleeve white shirt and black jeans.

"We really got to stop matching." I smile in a joking matter.

"Hey, I was already ready." He raised up his hands in defense. "You just are copying me."

"Right." I grin. "So where are you taking me anyways."

"It's a secret." He smiles mischievously.

"Will there be any paparazzi there," I then ask.

"Sadly yes, but they wont bother us."

"Promise?"

"Promise. Now is that the last question or did you prepare something else?" He grins.

"Lets see." I say, tapping my chin. "It looks like I'm coming up blank."

"Good." He took off his coat and handed it to me.

"I can grabbed my jacket if-"

"It loons better if I give you my coat. The girls love it for some reason." He smiles.

"Right." I grabbed it from his hand and pulled it over myself. His smell still sticking to the fabric. I resisted taking in a deep breath. Just because I'm not a fan of William Everest himself doesn't mean I don't like how he smells. It's so pleasing to the nose when you smell someone that smells so nice.

He held out his elbow, "shall we?"

"We shall," I smile while interlacing my arm with his as he lead me to the elevator.

We left through the alleyway again, except this time we went through the kitchen. My stomach rumbled as we past the cooks making the dinners for the other guests here. I could feel my stomach trying to reach for it as I walked past, pushing against my sides.

"Hey do you mind if we grab one of these?" William asked as one of the waitresses with a bowl full of mints.

She smiled before nodding generously. William grabbed a handful before leasing me out the door where our ride was already waiting for us.

"Get in the passenger side." William explained.

I looked at him confused but all he did was smile. Next thing I knew, the driver got out of the car and handed William which I'm guessing were the keys.

"You know how to drive?"

He looked up and smile, "of course I do. I also happen to have a fantastic taste in music.

I slipped inside and William quickly pulled out of the alleyway.

It was at least an hour drive to our destination. A small town right on the outskirts of New York City. I looked around and saw colorful lights hanging from tree to tree. Sparkling out the light as they reflected off each other.

"Oh my god this is beautiful." I murmured to myself. I attempted to wipe the smile off my face.

I looked over to see William also having a giant smile on his face. "Ready?"

I nodded before getting out the car. A cold breeze brushed past me sending shivers throughout my body.

"How did you even find this place?" I ask once we got to the entrance of the pathway.

The pathway was dirt, more like a trail leading into a forest. Except the trees along the rim were lit up in various different colors. Probably preparing for the winter season and the first snowfall.

"My dad use to bring me here every winter before his career started blowing up." He looked around at the different rays of colors against the trees, "it's kind of like a physically memory of us actually being a family."

"That must of been a hard time." I brushed my hand on his arm.

"Yeah," he looked down at the ground and gulped silently.

"My father always made sure Clarke and I had the best winter season since he would always find extra jobs to help pay for presents." I explain.

He looked over at me with a smile slight smile on his face. "What were the holidays like?"

I smiled just at the thought if it. "When I was younger I remember coming home from a rough day at school to smell fresh eggnog and gingerbread waiting for me and my sister. We would eat them so fast that my dad would keep telling us that will be puking out guts out. But we never listened and we would puke all of our guts out later that night, then Dad would come in with some fresh soup. He'd say it was from scratch but my dads a really bad cook, but we would always explain how good it tasted." I chuckled slightly. I looked over to see his eyes completely focused on me. Invested fully at what I'm telling him. "The days leading up to Christmas were the best. Dad would always find time in his busy schedule to take us to a winter inspired event. We went ice skating one time and I've never seen my dad smile that wide before in a very long time as he watched his two girls have the time of their lives. We begged him to let us stay for hours."

"Your dad seems like a great guy." William smiles.

"He is." I whisper.

Another cold breeze hit me hard and William noticed.

"You're freezing." He pointed out.

Before I could say I was fine he wrapped his arm around me and pulled me into him. Rubbing my arm to create friction that would eventually heat me up.

I'd be lying if it didn't make my heart almost stop beating.

There was small white speck floating down from the sky that caught my eye. Followed by many others. Each one reflecting a crystal glow from the lights around us.

"They look like tiny stars." I pointed out.

William looked around to see the snow falling around us. "Maybe they're just meant for us."

I smiled, "you're such a dork, you know that?"

"Sadly no." He grinned before pulling away from me. Tilting his head back and keeping his mouth wide open. Letting tbe tiny snowflakes drift slowly into his mouth.

I couldn't contain myself as I watched an eighteen year old man act like a child in their first ever snow storm.

"What are you doing?" I ask in between laughter.

He looked at me with a wide smile. "Come on!"

"No." I laughed even harder.

He grabbed my hands and pulled me into his chest. His breath warm against mt skin. I stopped laughing now, only a few chuckles escaped my mouth.

"Just close your eyes." He whispered. I followed. "Tilt your head up and just feel the snow land on your face."

I looked up to the sky and it felt like I was experiencing a brand new thing in life. The snow was cold at the touch, but there was a relaxing peacefulness too it. I opened my eyes and blinked rapidly, breaking my peaceful concentration when a snowflake fell right into my eye.

William looked down as I tried to pull away. I wiped my eyes before laughing. William quickly joined in.

The snow started to pick up a little more. William looked over at me and held his hand out.

"What?" I said with a wide smile.

He smirked, "just trust me."

"That's a little hard." I joke before grabbing his hand.

He pulled me back into him before placing his hand right above my hip and began to sway back and forth. It was like that one scene in high school musical just without the singing part.

"What are you doing?" I giggled.

"Dancing in the snow." He smiled.

"I think its suppose to be dancing in the rain." I correct him.

"Snow is just frozen rain." He whispered before turning me.

"Where'd you learn to dance?" I said. Staring up at his dark brown eyes.

"I'm an actor. You really think I don't know how to dance?"

"Sorry," I grin.

He smirked down at me while I wrapped my arms around his neck. The lights surrounded us as we swayed to the invisible beat. When the snow started coming down harder and the wind started to pick up we cane to an end.

When we got back to the car, William opened my door like a gentleman he is and I slipped inside with a nod as a thank you.

"That was amazing." I said when he sat down. "Thank you."

He smiled before turning the engine over. "You're welcome."

An acoustic love song came on and just for a split second I thought maybe it was meant for us.
