Adam's POV                                           
(I know you all were waiting for this)

Everyone had left Selena's house and we could all hear her crying from her room. It broke my heart. But God fucking help Colton, that bastard isn't going to able to walk once I'm done with him.

How the fuck was I so oblivious to the fact that he was abusing her. The day I saw bruises on her body I fought with Cole because he knew something about this and didn't tell me. How could he keep this big thing from me.

Ever since I laid my eyes on her I promised that I would protect her. But I couldn't. At the party when I got in the room and saw what Colton was doing all I saw was red and I just beat him till my hands went numb. I couldn't see her in pain, it killed me that I could have done something to avoid it.

"What are we going to do about Colton" Ben spoke breaking me from my thoughts.

"Well I'm gonna have Cole take him back to the wizard world and have him locked away. Until we don't get answers from him as to how he knows about the prophecy he will be fucking tortured. He will wish he wasn't born" I felt like I was going to blow up. My anger was getting the best of me.

"You guys go to sleep, I'll go check on Selena. I'm sorry I didn't take of your sister"

"Listen man, none of us knew this was going to happen don't beat yourself over it. No one is to blame here expect Colton"

The guys all went to their rooms and I walked up to Selena's room.

I knocked on her door and I heard her cries stop.

"Who is it" her voice came out in a whisper.

"Um...its me...Adam" why was I feeling scared to talk to her.

"Could I come in" She didn't say anything for a while. But then I heard footsteps.

When she opened the door I broke on the inside. She was still in the sheet's and her eyes were puffy from crying.

She moved to the side and let me in. I closed the door behind me. All I could do was look at her. She stayed quiet and didn't say anything.

"Please say something"

"Say what Adam... what do you want me to say after all this, what the hell do you want me to say"

I didn't know what to say to her. It took everything in me to not hold her and tell her that will be okay, because now everything was damaged beyond repair.

"Adam, my whole life has been as lie. The guy I once 'loved' violated me and I couldn't do anything to stop it. Honestly my life is nothing but a big burden on everyone around me. My brothers could have been living their lives without staying in hiding. My parents would have been alive. The world would have been a better place without me"

I grabbed her by her shoulders.

"Listen to me, don't you ever fucking say you're a burden. Your life is beyond precious to those around you. I have seen your brothers and you bring the biggest smile on their faces. You have no idea what you mean to those around. This world would be a fucking shit place without you. You mean the world to those around you...you mean the world to me" I whispered the last part so she couldn't hear.

She looked up at me with tears in her eyes. She put her arms around me tightly and cried. I was shocked at first but I put my arms around her protectively. I felt as if she would slip through my hands if I let her go.

As much I wanted to stay like this for the rest of my life. I had to clean her wounds up.

I picked her up took her to her bathroom. I sat her down and got the first aid kit. I cleaned up her wounds on her body. Honestly seeing the bruises and cuts on her body made me want to kill Colton even more. How the fuck could he hurt someone so beautiful.

I gave her my shirt and turned around so she can get change into it.

Selena spoke after a while "Adam you do know I have my own clothes"

"Well I don't want to go through your stuff and your not in a state to do so either" She nodded her head and turned back again.

When she was done and I saw her she looked so gorgeous despite her state, she looked breath taking. I took her and laid her on her bed. I walked towards the door to leave but stopped.
"Adam, please don't leave" She didn't have to tell me twice.

I sat on the bed with her and she laid her head on my chest. It was quiet until Selena spoke.

"How comes every time I get hurt your there to fix things."

"I dunno, maybe I'm your knight in shining armour" Lame joke, I know I tried to make her laugh and plus what was I meant to say 'I'm your mate that's why'

"Adam...Colton said that the prophecy will be fulfilled. Does that mean he is my mate?" I could hear the panic in her voice.

"Don't worry he isn't"

"How do you know"

"I just do" It took everything in me not to tell her that its me. But I want to win her heart, I don't want to tell her that I'm her mate and have her feel like she has to love me.

"John said that I will become one with my 'mate' after I meet him. How will that happen" I knew she would ask this. So fucking awkward.

"To be one with your mate...you have to like um have sex...then you can feel each others emotions, pain, and all sorts of things"

"Oh" yup things got pretty awkward after that.

Soon she was fast asleep, she had a tight grip on me. Since I had no shirt on I covered the pair of us with the sheets. You'd think that I'd sleep well with my Selena in my arms. But no, I couldn't, everything that happened was killing me on the inside I had to find out about Colton's intentions.

Honestly if someone told me a few months ago that I would be in love with a girl that too my mate. I would have laughed because firstly I lost hope of finding my mate and I only had sex with girls for fun and none of them minded that. That was just my life.

But look at me now. This girl does things to me and has no idea. I never got awkward about talking about sex but with her I felt like a schoolboy talking to his crush.

No matter what happens now, I will do everything to keep her safe. I broke this promise but now I will do anything to keep her safe even if it meant putting my life on the line. Selena I promise you that no harm will ever come to you after this.

I kissed her forehead and let sleep overtake me.......
