⠀⠀"Kook, come out of there already! I wanna see!" Kang Seulgi whined from the umpteenth time, hands on her hips and foot tapping impatiently.

⠀⠀The duo had been trying on multiple costumes for the past hour at the Halloween store, and while Seulgi had settled for some fairy costume, Jungkook was left feeling unsatisfied with each costume he donned. Normally, Jungkook wasn't this picky, but this time it was different. He wanted to impress and look good for Taehyung, for his man, for his boyfriend.

⠀⠀"B-But I look terrible and- maybe I should try on a different costume? Yeah, I definitely should. Mind picking me out something else, Seulgi?" Jungkook ranted as he looked at his reflection in the fitting room mirror in discontent.

⠀⠀"No! We've been at this for over an hour already!" Seulgi argued. "Come on~ I'm sure you look great!"

⠀⠀"The mirror never lies, hon'," Jungkook scoffed before sighing and mustering up the will to walk out of the fitting room.

⠀⠀Out came Jungkook, cheeks red in embarrassment, in a white button-up under black suspenders and tight black slacks. On his collar was a red bowtie and to complete his outfit, he had on a pair of thick, black, square-rimmed glasses. Basically, he was supposed to be a nerd or something.

⠀⠀"Cute!" Seulgi gushed as Jungkook stood in front of her, hands shoved in his pockets.

⠀⠀Jungkook quirked his eyebrows and looked down at his attire, hands grabbing the suspenders and pulling them forward. "As if! I'm supposed to be a nerd, but if anything, I look like a butch lesbian going to prom."

⠀⠀"You look good, Kookie... Ugh, stop- stop being so picky! We've been at this for over an hour!"

⠀⠀"Halloween is cancelled!!" Jungkook said dramatically and scurried back into the fitting room to change into his regular clothes. Seulgi sighed at his overreaction and waited until he was dressed.

⠀⠀Once that was over with, the two sauntered over to the checkouts where Seulgi paid for her costume. In the midst of that, something caught Jungkook's eye to which he wandered over to the rack of clearance items. Inside a cardboard box was a set of bunny ears and face paint. Sure, it was a predictable outfit and rather cheap and uninspired, but it was cute!

⠀⠀As Jungkook held the box in his hands and contemplated if he should make a last minute purchase, he felt a pair of large hands grab his waist and a deep voice whisper, "What ya' doing?"

⠀⠀The shorter boy was startled and squeaked loudly. Turning around, Jungkook sighed in relief at a laughing Lucas. "Oh, L-Lucas..." he breathed out and then slapped his chest playfully. "You scared me!"

⠀⠀He looked very handsome with a black leather jacket on that hugged his broad figure quite nicely, and his hair was styled up in a messy quiff-like look. It almost felt emasculating standing next to him. He was so manly and charming and- ugh!

⠀⠀"Sorry. Couldn't resist," he said as his laughter subsided. "Funny running into you here, huh? Looks like I have a stalker."

⠀⠀"Excuse you! I've been here for over an hour, I'll have you know!" Jungkook argued, the box of bunny ears in between his arms and clung to his chest.

⠀⠀Lucas gave him a wink and patted the small of his back. "I'm just messing with you." He then eyed the box Jungkook was holding and pointed at it. "Are you dressing up as a bunny?"

⠀⠀"I- I guess I am- it's a little childish, I know..." Jungkook muttered, face heating up.

⠀⠀"Childish? Not at all. I bet you'll look really cute in that," Lucas reassured him and then gently grabbed the box from Jungkook. "Here, let me buy it for you," Lucas offered and then headed in the direction of a free checkout.

⠀⠀"Wh-What? No- no, it's okay. You don't have to do that. I-I can pay- I insist," Jungkook stammered as he tried to stop Lucas.

⠀⠀"I want to," Lucas said softly and placed a hand on Jungkook's hip. "Okay?"

⠀⠀"O-Okay." Jungkook gulped and stared at Lucas with his big eyes as he pulled out ten dollars and bought the bunny ears kit for Jungkook.

⠀⠀"Keep the change," he told the cashier before walking over and handing the bagged item to Jungkook with a smile.

⠀⠀"Thank you," Jungkook muttered and grabbed the bag reluctantly. "I owe you one."

⠀⠀"No worries," Lucas said and then scanned his eyes down Jungkook's nice figure. "On second thought," he added with a click of his tongue, "If you wanna make it up to me, how about you be my plus one to this Halloween party I'm going to this week?"

⠀⠀"Oh, Lucas, I'd love to, but I- but I can't, you see..." Jungkook mumbled and played with the plastic bag in his hands. "I have plans already- w-with my boyfriend. I'm sorry."

⠀⠀Unbeknownst to Taehyung, Jungkook had a plan to surprise him on Halloween. They would facetime all day while watching the same scary movies at the same time and eating candy. Yeah, it sounded difficult, but who said dating long distance was easy?

⠀⠀Lucas pursed his lips and nodded. "Hey, no need to apologize." He then paused and felt around in his pocket for his phone. "How 'about a picture then?"

⠀⠀"A picture? Sure- I guess?" Jungkook stood behind Lucas and posed while Lucas took a photo of them, the camera flash reflecting in Jungkook's bambi eyes.

⠀⠀"We look good together," Lucas cooed as he stared at the photo of them while Jungkook smiled.

⠀⠀"Well, I should get going now. My friend's waiting for me," Jungkook said to part ways and gave Lucas a small wave. "See ya!"

⠀⠀"Bye~" Lucas responded with a wave back, his eyes following Jungkook's figure as he walked away, admiring the nice view of his bottom in those tight skinny jeans of his.

⠀⠀"Okay, what the fuck was that?" Seulgi gawked as they walked out of the store and to the parking lot.

⠀⠀"What do you mean? He's just a friend from my photography class," Jungkook said dismissively and pulled the handle of Seulgi's car to get in.

⠀⠀Seulgi simply hummed and didn't question it any further. Instead, they spent the remainder of their time together buying milkshakes and gossiping before Jungkook was dropped back off at home. The boy quickly unlocked his front door and shuffled to his room, tossing his shopping bag on his bed and pulling out his phone to text Taehyung.

Tae:
Why don't you show Lucas instead?

Jungkook:
Omg grandpa is losing both his
sight AND memory!! 😭 I said I was

day. I wish you'd realize I only want you
Taehyung but that's not the case it seems.

Tae:

⠀⠀Feeling a combination of angry and disappointed, Jungkook hastily grabbed some pajamas and a towel before darting to his bathroom to take a much needed shower- a shower to wash off this sudden icky feeling. He needed to scrub it away and watch it wash down the drain.

⠀⠀As Jungkook turned on the shower and waited for the water to hit a temperature that was just right, he stood there and thought to himself. This rush of impulsiveness took over him as he pulled out his phone and composed a message. It was dumb of him, really, but why did that matter? He was dumb, according to Taehyung. A dumb, naive, childish boy.
