Josh's POV
Chapter Forty: A day full of fun

"If you keep playing like that Callum you're gonna loose." Sylvia teased, placing down the reverse uno card.

Callum places down another reverse card, "Eat shit." He said and Sylvia snickered as she placed another reverse.

My mom and I just kinda sat there, watching as Callum pulled out another reverse card.

"So how has your day been?" I asked and my mom laughed.

"Great. It's been great. What did you and Callum do in town yesterday?" She asked and I shrugged.

"Nothing we turned around when it started raining." Yeah, yesterday after our heartfelt conversation it started to rain and pour, which is ridiculous since it's July.

Sylvia groaned, "I ran out of reverses." She said and Callum grinned in pride as Sylvia places down an ordinary four.

My mom slapped down a plus four and I playfully pushed her shoulder, "What happen to our peaceful bonding discussion you jerk." I said, drawing four cards from the deck as she changed the color to blue.

Callum places down a Blue plus two and Sylvia glared. "I'll fuck you up Callum."

"Language." My mom chided.

Callum's lips pulled into a smirk. "Give it your best shot."

~~~~~~~~~~~~
"So how long have they been playing?" My dad whispered as now they were playing card games, Callum winning over and over again  and Sylvia absolutely refusing to believe that she'd lost.
I shrugged, "Bout an hour or two."
My dads jaw slacked and he glanced at my mom who shrugged.
"Ha!" I heard Sylvia exclaim, "I won. God Callum you're so bad at this game, step the fuck up to my level."
Callum rolled his eyes, "I've won the past six rounds."
I laughed and Sylvia shrugged, "Whatever. I still one."
My dad coughed to catch our attention and we all turned our heads, "Now that you're done being 12 year old..." he held up his keys and jingled them, then pointed at Sylvia, "Sylvia you've got a doctors appointment."
Sylvia groaned and my mom walked over and patted her on the back, "Come on, I know it sucks but we've got to be sure."
"I already told you, I'm not pregnant."
Oh yeah, did I skip that? My bad.
Basically, uh, recently Sylvia has started to feel sick in the mornings, and she can't handle being around my mom when she's wearing her strong scented perfume, plus, (quoted from my father) she's either pregnant or fat.
Of course if she was pregnant it wouldn't be a shock who the dad would be, obviously her friend— uh boyfriend? That one guy that she's seeing often.
And Of course Sylvia is an adult, so she's not in trouble or anything, my parents are just being parents.
"We will be right back boys." My mom said, shrugging on her jacket. "Don't have a flour fight please." She said and I recalled when Callum and I were making a cake and got baking things all over the house.
Callum waved as they left and then he started putting the cards away.
"So what are we gonna do?" I asked and Callum looked at me like I was dumb.
"I hereby challenge you Josh, to a video game competition."
I winced. I may not be athletic, but I wasn't exactly a game wiz either.
"What?" He asked, crossing his arms a smug look coming into his face, "Are you that much of a wuss?"
God I hate him. I think I like his stupid puppy dog eyes better than his challenging eyes.
"Fine. Fine. Whatever. Don't cry when I beat you though." I glared at him and he returned it, his dazzling green eyes staring into mine
"When was the last time you even touched a controller?" He asked with a smirk.
"When was the last time you did?"
He answered instantly, "The other day, with your dad. I destroyed him by the way."
I didn't have a comeback so instead I just huffed and turned away, heading towards my room. "Whatever." I grumbled and I heard him snicker as he followed behind me.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I laughed so hard no noise came out.

"You should've seen him scream! Oh my god it was so girly—"

The image of Craner screaming like a girl and jumping into Callum's arms made me cry even harder with laugher as I practically lost all the weight I gained during the virus from laughing so hard. I think I might be getting abs.

After a solid few minutes of wheezing, calming down before bursting into laughter after we made eye contact, Callum and I had finally calmed down enough to form coherent sentences.

Callum and I still huffed slightly out of breath. "I guess we both lost." I said, staring at the TV which showed us both dead.

At this point I don't even remember which game we were playing.

Callum laughed again but not as hard. "We should go somewhere. Like to the bowling alley."

I rolled my eyes, "We aren't going to the bowling Alley Callum."

~~~~~~~~~~~
"What size bowling shoes?"
And now we are at the bowling alley.
At first I told Callum we shouldn't waste money but he had just shrugged and said his uncle gave him a debit card and he'd feel bad if he saw his uncle again and spent no money at all. Which I knew he was just saying to convince me to go bowling with him.
I grumbled as I got my bowling shoes and slid them on, Callum grinned like a moron.
"You're so annoying."
He rolled his eyes, "So you've said." He murmured and we both walked around, looking for bowling balls that we could hold. "But at least I'm not brainless."
I glared, "In fifth grade you thought Abraham Lincoln was a pop singer."
Callum turned away in embarrassment, "I was
Asleep during that lesson, all I heard was 'play' and I just assumed, okay?" He said and I snickered.
Obviously Callum got a much heavier ball than I did and we finally got in our lane and started playing my ass was instantly getting beat.
"Another strike Joshy. Keep up." Callum teased and I grumbled as my ball went flying into the gutters.
Callum snickered but instantly shut up with a grin.
"You're annoying." I said again, rubbing my temples.
"And you're cranky." He places his arm on my shoulder. "So just hurry up so we can get this game over with."
After what felt like forever the game had finally finished. It was boring, mainly consisting of Callum's stupid grin as he practically doubled my score. We laughed and we joked and I wanted to sock him in the face for being a bragger.
"Let's go get tokens and go play in the arcade." I said and he shrugged as he started towards the token machine.
Callum got his token and I went to go get mine when Callum rolled his eyes and got my token for me with his own money.
"You didn't have to—"
Callum raised an eyebrow, "Call it compensation for having my dog trash your house." He shrugged and I instantly winced, remembering how Peanut literally tore up one of my pillows.
"We really should get it trained. Hire a professional." I said and Callum rolled his bottom lip between his teeth.
"My Peanut is perfect, he doesn't need a mean old trainer bossing him around." He huffed and I laughed slightly.
"Glad to know you care more about your dog than my house."
Callum shrugged, "Eh."
Eventually Callum and I found a fun looking game and Callum challenged me.
"Fifty bucks says I can easily get a higher score than you."
I stared at the flappy bird game which I've been playing for so many years. "You know what Callum. This is a bet I'll take."
Callum went to play but he stopped, "Actually I don't want to give you fifty bucks so can we lower it to twenty?" He asked with lips tilted up and I laughed.
"Yes Callum. We can lower it to twenty."
"Good. Now..." he looked at me and winked, "Prepare to loose."
~~~~~~~~~~~~

I lost. Repeatedly. Of course.

I groaned in Callum's car, my feet aching as I had been standing and doing more physical activity than I had done in six months besides running with Callum that one time.

Callum seemed drained too, although he still had a cheesy grin on his face... I was kinda skeptical, because that grin only seemed to be growing bigger and bigger as drive away from the arcade.

I groaned as Callum missed our turn, "Youre either killing me or you taking me to another place where I have to move and I don't know which I prefer."

Callum rolled his eyes. "Neither, stupid. We're going to get my hair cut. You'll just sit there."

I froze and Callum started to snicker.

"No. Please not the mullet Callum."

Callum grinned, "Oh yeah. Definitely the mullet Joshy." He said.

I closed my eyes and rubbed my temples, "Please god. Please let me wake up from this torturous dream I don't think I can do this."

Callum grunted in annoyance. "Watch me look hella nice Josh, you'll be crying, I swear to god."

I just closed my eyes and hummed, "I think I'm going to go to sleep so I don't have to pay attention while you ruin your beautiful hair."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
He looked fine as hell.
I've never seen someone looked good in a mullet in. My. Entire. Life.
It wasn't a full on mullet mullet, it was fluffier.
Albeit I've never met many people that had mullets. But Callum—
My crush on him expanded twenty times as I stared at him and tried my hardest not to blush under his intense smirk.
"Do I look good?" He asked, tauntingly.
"You look dumb." I grumbled.
"And you look like a burnt chicken nugget."
"At least I look like something delicious."
"Burnt chicken nuggets are gross Joshy."
"My Moto everyday Callum is: I love myself, even though I look like a burnt chicken nugget I still love myself."
Callum laughed, his shoulders tensing as he shook with laughter.
"The fact that you probably know every vine there is proves to me that you've spent too much time on technology."
I frowned, "You take a shower with your phone, I don't want to hear it."
"Shut up." He grumbled and now it was my turn to laugh.
There was a comfortable silence and Callum looked at me, "Did you have fun?" He asked and I immediately nodded.
"Even though you're a pain in my rear, I did."
"So you're in a good mood?" He asked with raised eyebrows and I nodded my head slowly.
"Yeah, why?" I asked suspiciously.
"Because it'll make this easier." He took a deep breath and I instantly tensed up, expecting him to be all joking and teasing and shit.
"I've been thinking since yesterday and like..." he paused wiping at his face. "God this is embarrassing."
"Just say it." I said, still confused as to wear this is going.
"Okay. I'll just say it. Will you go out with me? Like as more than best friends?"
I'm sorry. What?
