Josh's POV
Family Troubles
*edited*
Callum sat on my couch as I walked downstairs, he fed himself grapes as if he was king.
"What are you-"
"Shhh." Callum says, holding up his finger and waving me off.
"Why-"
"Shhh!" He said, this time more demanding.
I shut my mouth, watching in confusion as he nodded.
He takes another bite of his grape as he 'listens' to something.
And then it occurs on me, "Did you just tell me to be quiet so I wouldn't talk?" I ask, crossing my arms.
I watch as Callum's lips tilt into a cocky smile and he lets out a 'tsk' noise. "What?" He drags out, "Why would I do that?" Callum asks, finally opening his eyes and meeting mine.
I roll my eyes, "People from miles would pay to hear my voice." I defend myself as Callum rolls his eyes.
"Yeah, on your deathbed so it can go under 'world's most annoying voice on earth' but you wouldn't know." He says back.
"Sometimes, you don't even make sense." I say, walking into the kitchen.
I faintly heard him mumble 'your mom doesn't even make sense'
Wow, what a great comeback
Grabbing some orange juice and a Juice Box for Callum, I walk back in there seeing Callum scroll through the TV channel.
"Do you wanna watch 90 day fiancé?" Callum asks, sending me a glance.
"I have no Idea what that is- wait a second, what are you even doing in my house?" I ask, scrunching up my eyebrows.
He shrugs, "I've been here for a good 3 hours. You just haven't left your room." He says, reaching for the juice box in my hand like a little kid. Then he paused before scoffing, "Also I've been your friend forever, I think I have Callum privileges on just entering whenever I feel."
"Three hours? So you were here while my parents were here?" I ask, handing the juice to him and rounding the couch, sitting two cushions away from him.
Callum nods his head, "I even helped them make breakfast but nooo little Joshy Washy was too sleepy to have breakfast." Callum says in a mock bitter voice.
It was Saturday again, and school all week was boring. I didn't see Callum much because, for some reason, he didn't go to school, but we did text.
At school I sat by myself on the bleachers during lunch because I didn't have Callum to let me sit with him and the 'cool' kids like he always does.
"Craner called again, he was drunk and kept ranting on and on about how I was the best cousin in the world. Then he asked how I was and then he asked how you were and then he hung up." Callum says, placing another grape into his mouth.
"That sounds like an eventful talk." I say, sitting on the other couch and watching as Callum continue to scroll through the Tv, obviously not feeling '90 day fiancé' anymore.
Callum nods, its silent as we watch Road Runner (or whatever it's called), then Pink Panther and then Dexters laboratory.
"So, how come you weren't at school?" I ask, glancing over to him to see his reaction.
He shrugs, "I just didn't want to go." He says, rolling his sleeves up slightly, revealing his scratched up forearms.
"Did you seriously get into another fight?" I ask in disbelieve.
Callum practically growls, "What's it to you? It's just a fight, it's not big deal." He says, waving me off.
"No, it is a big deal, Callum. I'm worried about how many fights you've gotten into recently. And how secretive you've been, and pissed. I tell you everything and you barely even care to mutter about your personal life. You do realize we've been best friends for 16 years?" I ask in frustration, running a hand through my short hair.
Callum sighs, "I'm sorry Josh." He says, "I shouldn't have snapped at you like that, and you're right, I've been an asshole. I'm sorry."
I shook my head, "It's okay, Callum."
He frowned, "It's not, that was a shit thing to do, i'm sorry." He shook his head, "I've just been stressed out. With my dad... and then my sister getting arrested, it's been stressful-"
"Hold up, go back, your sister got arrested?" I ask.
Callum's sister is the sweetest most gentle girl you could ever see. She's kind, wouldn't dare hurt a fly, she's like the opposite of Callum except for the good looks and extremely popular part.
Callum nods, "Apparently She got caught underage drinking." He grumbles crossing his arms, "And then drinking and driving." He says, running a hand through his hair this time.
"Damn. Are you doing okay?" I ask, genuinely concerned.
Callum smiles, "I'm fine. It's not big deal." He says.
"Callum..." I trailed.
He frowned, "I'm upset. I'm upset... because I really don't wanna go home, I don't really have a choice, huh?" He said laughing sadly, "But that's okay, I mean, it's just been a bad week right? It'll get better." He stretched it, "I got these delicious grapes so... it's already going uphill."
I didn't like how he was changing the subject, but I was glad he told me he was upset. I was glad he was being honest with me.

"Callum! Did you steal my socks..." I paused before yelling, "Again?"
I heard Callum snicker from downstairs as I searched through my dresser. How he even got into my room and got my socks was unknown to me.
Callum has an issue, he always steals people's socks and then never gives them back.
He's stolen almost all of my socks and he doesn't even match them. It's probably one of the most infuriating things in the world... and I have a sister.
I sigh as I slide on my shoes, wearing my old socks that barely pull over my heels.
Callum suggested we go get nachos, because apparently he's been craving them all week and as the guy who's his best friend but also has a crush on him.
I couldn't say no.
I stroll down stairs, expecting to see him laying on the couch like a hobo again.
Instead, he was leaning against the wall on his phone making at face at it.
"What are you-"
Callum jumps, his phone flying across the room as he winces.
The thud his phone made when it hit the ground was incredibly loud, and even Callum knew he screwed up.
"Shit." He murmurs, running a hand through his hair before hesitantly racing towards his phone.
He picks it up looking at it with concern before sighing, relief washing over him.
"It's not broken, well, the case is, but my phone is fine." He says in relief.
I roll my eyes, "Why did you even freak out that bad?" I ask, curiously.
"Uh, duh, because you just yelled at me for taking your socks, I thought you were going to kill me or something." He says, shaking his head.
In his car he turns on the radio and we drive in mostly silence, besides the radio.
"Can I ask a random question?" Callum asks.
I roll my eyes, "You just did."
"Fine, I'm asking another one then." He states, blowing hair out of his face. "How did you know you liked guys and not girls?" He asks, keeping his gaze on the road. Then he shook his head, "Well, how did you know you liked boys specifically?"
I shrug, "Well I'm still not 100% certain about it, but I just kind a paid attention to things. Why do you ask?" I stare at his features at he adjusts in his seat.
"I was just curious." He says, as we begging to pull into Scottie's.
Scottie's was like an 'all food here' kind of restaurant. Like, are you craving Italian, Scottie's probably has it. Or American, definitely go to Scottie's. Do you want Mexican, Scottie's.
So, Callum and I often went there, mainly to just get burger or chicken tenders.
One thing I did hate about it though, Callum always ate whatever he could, whenever he could, however he could. If his mouth was full and you thought there was no way he could fit any more food in, think again, because he'll stuff a whole burger into one cheek like a chipmunk.
We waited in line as the guy in front of us did the 'I'll have, Uh, um, a um. Gosh, uh, Um, uh.' Thing as Callum picked jokes about them quietly.
"This guy must easily reach the word count on an essay, considering how many 'um's and uh's he uses." Callum grumbles as the guy in front of us finally said his order before heading to sit down.
After Callum and I ordered I took the cups to get us drinks as Callum waited for our meal near the cash register.
Over at the soda machine thing I glanced at Callum.
He had his cheeks puffed out and an eyebrow raised as he looked deep in thought.
He looked stupid, but he's always stupid in his own way.
Finally our number was called and Callum and I walked over to where we normally sat.
Callum immediately started digging in, stuffing nacho chip after nacho chip in his mouth. Cheese ran down his face as he sloppily ate.
I grabbed him a napkin and handed it to him.
He waved it off, instead using his tongue to lick up the cheese.
"Waste of food." He muffles out, as he fights the food down his throat.
"That was fucking disgusting Callum."
However, him licking it up didn't do anything for him, it even made a mess on his face.
I roll my eyes and bite my cheek. "You have a little bit of something-" I motion to his whole face.
He nods his head, "Yeah, it's called fucking beauty."
But like... he wasn't wrong.
"Callum, you look like a four year old." I commented, sticking my own nacho chip into my mouth.
"Don't be an ass then." He said, leaning near me. "Wipe it for me."
"You're a big boy, wipe your own face."
"My hands hurt." He stuck his bottom lip out, "My poor knuckles are still swollen."
I sighed. I grabbed the napkin and wiped it off of his face, hyper-focused to not let my eyes trail anywhere other than the places the cheese had landed on.
I stuffed another nacho chip into my mouth as Callum grinned at me mockingly.
I huffed.
"Jerk."
"You wound me with your rude words, Josh."
"Suck my dick."
