I had never known this kind of exhilaration. Dark wings enveloped me on each side, encapsulating me in a field of warmth that somehow remained in spite of the speed with which we tore through the sky.
Why had I never done this before!
If hover-barges were floating islands, dragons were bolts of lightning. They pierced the sky, able to turn as if balanced on a blade point, devastating in their efficiency and their destructive ability.
"Come Samuco," I whispered against her smooth skin, scales like velvet armor. "Let us show them what we are made of."
