A/N This update is going to be whatever I can write before 11 pm. It's 10:37. Let's do this.

*Kaitlyn MacDonald*

I unlock the door and pull it open quickly, stepping outside into the frigid October air. Seriously Mother Nature, first the bleeding-once-a-month thing and now cold weather in October? Please, get your life together.

I shiver a bit before facing Drew with my hands on my hips.

"Well, good morning sunshine," he smirks, putting his car keys back into his pants pocket. I'm momentarily mesmerized by the swaying of the lanyard on the side of his leg before snapping myself out of it. Kaitlyn, focus!

"It would have been better if you didn't show up," I retort, moving my arms across my chest in attempt to conserve body heat.

Drew grimaces, a flash of something in his eyes before his normal soul-penetrating look returns.

"I'm hurt," he says, stepping in closer to me. I unconsciously take a step backwards to get away from him. This continues until my back hits the dark red door, and my hand instinctively finds the doorknob.

Just in case...

"I just wanted to give you your phone back, that's all."

*Drew McCarthy*

I definitely didn't want to just give her phone back.

*Kaitlyn MacDonald*

I narrow my eyes at him.

"I don't believe you. For the week I've been forced to interact with you, I've come to realize that you don't do anything when you don't benefit from it yourself. So what do you really want?" I fail to notice him step closer as I'm too busy congratulating myself on the retort I just delivered.

"Why Kaitlyn," he breathed, "I would have thought it obvious. What I really want, you say?"

It's at this point that I notice he is right in front of me, no more than six inches separating my face and his. He leans in the rest of the way until his hair is brushing my cheeks as he whispers in my ear.

"What I really want is to commandeer a ship, pick up a crew in Tortuga, raid, pillage, plunder and otherwise pilfer my weasely black guts out."

What?

"What?" In my haste to get away from the freaky creep that's whispering in my ear, I turn the doorknob and stick with the door, leaving Drew leaning on air. He immediately falls to the floor of my house and I start laughing as he groans.

"Take that!" I yell happily, forgetting that there are, in fact, other people in the house besides me, and Drew technically.

"Kaitlyn?" I hear Parker call from the kitchen, followed by a loud clang and a bunch of cursing from Jordan. "Is everything okay?"

"Totally," I call back, kicking Drew in the leg to make him get up faster. "Get up, lazybones, before my brother and best friend catch you here! Would not make a good impression, let me tell you."

Jordan pops his head into the hallway to see what's happening. When he saw Drew laying on the floor with me standing over him, I expected anything except what happened.

"Drew, my man!" He exclaims, pulling Drew up with one arm and patting him on the back with the other. You know, the awkward bro hug thing that all guys seem to do.

Again. What?

"Hey Jordan, how's it going? I'm surprised you're not at school. I mean, you weren't even at the party last night."

Jordan shrugs. "Senior," he says, as if that makes everything okay. To Drew, I guess, it does.

"What are you doing here anyway," my brother asks, running a hand through his quaffed brown hair. Drew grins and slides his hand into his pocket.

"Just returning darling Kaitlyn's phone here," he says sweetly, batting his eyelashes. Once again, I'm mesmerized by how long and effortlessly curly they look.

MOTHER NATURE! WHY ARE EYELASHES WASTED ON THOSE WHO DON'T APPRECIATE THEM? WHY?

Okay, I'm done. I take a deep breath to calm myself and hold out my hand for my phone.

"Phone, please," I say, and grin when my precious baby comes into my possession again. "Thank you," I sing.

(A/N 11:01. I'm such a rebel)

"Well, I better get going," Drew says, checking his watch. "Someone has to be home at noon to pick up my sister from her friend's house. Lucky kids don't have school today." He moves to hug my brother again and I step outside, closing the door behind me and taking a deep breath of the cold air.

When the door opens and shuts behind me, I stay silent. We stand for a few moments before I turn to him.

"So," I begin.

"So," he mimics, causing me to shake my head while grinning.

"So, what was that thing you said earlier? Something about.... weasels?"

Drew laughs, clutching his stomach as he doubles over.

"Oh, you're funny, MacDonald. I only quoted the greatest movie ever." My face remains blank, and as the time passes, the smile drops from Drew's mouth. "You-you've never seen Pirates of the Caribbean?"

"What's that, a disease?" I ask disdainfully, turning my nose up in the air like I smelled something foul.

"You're kidding, right? You've had to have seen it at least once."

I shake my head. "Never. I actually haven't seen a lot of movies. Too busy studying and pretending I have friends."

"That has to change. Guess what! I figured out something we can do besides tutoring during tutoring sessions." I mentally roll my eyes. Here we go again.

"And what might that be?" I ask.

"I'm going to turn you into a movie junkie."

With that, he steps off my porch and I stand there, watching him drive away.

A/N It's 11:10, and I'm going to be very tired tomorrow. Yay me.

I hope this chapter was a little better than the last one, and again, sorry for that monstrosity you all had to read *laughs*

But yeah. I felt inspired to update, so I did (even though I had no planning for this chapter whatsoever. There wasn't much planning put into this book, actually. I know where it's going to end up and why, but everything in between looks like my brain on test days. Grey and little dust bunnies everywhere. Chapters just waiting to be filled with fluff stuff. I can't wait.)

Please leave feedback, comment, vote, and follow! I love seeing all the notifications I get when I upload a new chapter, and I smile when reading your comments (@funkyturtle101, I'm looking at you) Thank you all so much for your continued support
