A/N Thank you so much for over 100 reads! This is amazing!

Sorry this update is so late 😁 I had basketball camp all this week, and even though school's out, I have a ton of summer homework. It won't stop me from writing, though!

Parker Trent above, or to the side, or wherever your picture shows up :)

Enjoy!

After the encounter with Drew, I go to Chem with Parker. We finally sit in our normal seats, halfway back next to the window.

"Is it nice to be able to see again, Lyn?" Parker asks, pulling out a notebook.

"Yes, definitely," I say.

Mr. Hall walks in just as the bell rings, and we turn our attention to the front of the room.

"Good morning, class. Today, we are going to start a unit on stoichiometry. The two most important parts of stoichiometry are having a balanced equation and knowing conversion factors. I know we briefly touched on balancing equations last week, but you should have done this last year. To start, please complete this worksheet on balancing equations and conversion factors. I'll touch base with you in 25 minutes." Mr. Hall passes out thin packets of paper, and we get to work.

After our time is up, we go over the worksheet. The lesson on stoichiometry takes the rest of class, and we're left with another packet for homework. I can probably finish it at lunch; the concepts aren't that hard.

The morning passes by quickly, and when the bell rings for lunch, I bolt out of US History. I'm hungry! Half a glass of smoothie was not enough for me this morning, it would seem.

I descend the stairs to the lower level and make my way to my locker. I open my locker and change my books, grabbing my lunch before slamming the metal door shut.

I walk up to the lunchroom and almost make it before I hear the static and crackle of the intercom.

"Will Kaitlyn MacDonald and Drew McCarthy please come to the office? Thank you." Green Lake's secretary, Mrs. Grint, sounds through the empty hallways, and I freeze. Why do I need to go to the office? Am I in trouble? What's going on? But most importantly, why is Drew coming?

*Drew McCarthy*
I'm in my spot behind the school, sitting on the ground with my head against the brick wall, staring up at the sky. My arms are crossed over my knees, and I sigh as I think about how much I need to be able to play basketball. It's honestly my life, and I don't know what I'd do without it.

My eyes close on their own and I sit there, thinking. Thinking about basketball, school, my family.... And Kaitlyn. She's the reason why I came out here. I usually don't come here unless I really need some time to just think.

After this morning, I really need time to think.

I've probably been out here for an hour when my phone buzzes in my pocket. I check the time before I check my phone; its 11:45. Lunch. I then pull my phone out, only to see a text from Ashton. He, along with Mack and Blake, are my friends, and we run Green Lake. His text is short.

"Grunt called your name. You have to go to the office." I send him a thumbs up, and push myself up off the ground, leaning against the wall for a few seconds to let the wave of dizziness pass. With purposeful strides, I make my way back into the school building.

When I get there, I push open the door and waltz in, dropping into a seat against the wall. I raise an eyebrow at Grunt, which is what we call her behind her back, and she shakes her head at me and returns to her work. I have to wait.

After 10 minutes, Cranch's door opens, and I stand up in preparation. However, I prepare myself for the wrong thing, because I am not ready for what happens next. Jordan's little sister walks out of the office, hand clenching tight to her backpack. She sees me and falters, but only for a second, before quickly walking out of the office, leaving me standing in shock, Cranch's door still open, and the man himself standing in his office, beckoning to me.

I walk into the office tentatively, knocking on the door frame as I do so. Mrs. Grint looks up at me before breaking into a smile.

"Hello, Kaitlyn. Mr. Cranch will see you now." She nods her head towards a closed office door, which I make my way to.

I knock on the door and hear a "come in".

Opening the door, I poke my head through the crack and look into the room. Mr. Cranch is sitting at his desk, studying a few papers. He looks up at the sound, and smiles when he sees me. What is it with the office people being so happy?

I walk all the way into the office, closing the door behind me.

"Sit down, Kaitlyn. Don't worry, you're not in trouble." He laughs, and I allow myself a small smile, knowing he must have seen my facial expression. "Now Kaitlyn," he begins, "I know you must be wondering why you're here." I nod. "This is about you signing up to be a winter tutor. Now I know what you're thinking; Why did I get called into the office for that?" I nod again, because he's right. Usually a teacher would contact us and tell us who we're tutoring. "The reason why this is different this time is because the student that has been selected for you needs help in all of his subjects." Wow. Who could be failing all his subjects? I think that would be pretty hard.

"Are you familiar with Drew McCarthy?"

That explains a lot.

Wait.

Oh no. Oh no. This is not good. Not good at all. I calm myself down, and after working out the details with a promise to start tutoring after school on Monday, I walk out of Cranch's office, only to come face to face with Drew. Clenching my hands on my backpack, I falter for only a second before scurrying into the hallway and to the lunchroom.

I step into Cranch's office and shut the door, sitting down before asked. Cranch sits down too, pulling his chair up before turning his attention to the papers on his desk.

"I have selected a tutor for you," he says. "You are to start on Monday, after school, as your tutor does not want to give up her lunchtime. She will tutor you in all of your classes, as she is currently taking them or has taken them before."

Who the f*ck is this girl?

"Do you know Kaitlyn MacDonald?"

Her?! Oh no. Hell no. Why me?

I storm out of the office and back outside to my spot against the wall. No way I'm going back to class today. But something in my head contradicts that.

Kaitlyn is in my German class. If I go to German, then I can see Kaitlyn. Now, I know what you're thinking, and you're dead wrong. I do not like Kaitlyn, nor am I the least bit interested in her. Okay, maybe slightly. But never mind that. If I sit by her, maybe scare her away somehow, she won't want to tutor me and I'll get some other nerd. Good plan, McCarthy, as ever.

I get up, and wander back to the school entrance. I need something to take my mind off things until German. I scroll through my contacts until I find the one labelled "Jean Summers". Perfect. I shoot her a quick text.

"Hey babe. Meet me behind the staircase in the basement. Hope you don't mind missing class"

Her reply is instantaneous.

"Omw babe"

Lovely.

I walk into German, my mind still on lunch's events. Why me? I'm sure there are plenty of smart girls who would be more than happy to tutor Drew, although I don't think much tutoring would be done, if you catch my drift.

I pull out my big notebook and my smaller one for vocabulary. Flipping to a clean page, I start the bell work on the board.

"Write the following sentences as commands, using either the du, sie, or ihr form."
1) Anne und Julia machen schnell.
2) Sie besuchen doch die schΓΆne Stadt.
3) Du isst dein Brot und trinkst deine Milch.
4) Steffie liest das Buch bis Freitag.
5) Wir gehen am Samstag ins Kino.
6) Sie rufen Frau Ehrhard an.

I make it halfway through the six sentences when the door slams open to reveal a flushed Drew. His hair is disheveled and he's slightly out of breath, and I don't think it's from running laps in the gym (he has conditioning the period before this. And no, I'm not a stalker. I was given his schedule so I would know what he was failing).

I roll my eyes and get back to work. To my surprise, Drew drops his backpack on the floor and sits in the desk next to mine, sprawled out in the chair. I scoot my chair to the left, closer to the window, and resume working. Drew does nothing, but I can feel his stare on me.

I turn to glare at him, but my gaze freezes as I catch his eyes, soft brown orbs glinting in the school's cheap lighting.

"Stop looking at me, it's hard to concentrate. Do your bell work." He does nothing, again, so I just try to ignore him. It's not until he moves his chair and desk right next to mine that I get annoyed. "Stop it, Drew! Do your own work!" I snap, very loudly.

"Ms. MacDonald! Mr. McCarthy! Is my teaching interrupting your conversation?"

Oops....

I'm about to respond politely when Drew opens his fat mouth.

"Actually yes, it is. Would you mind toning it down a bit?"

The teacher, Frau Polsinelli, turns red in the face and almost snaps her pencil in half. "Office. Now. Both of you."

Drew jumps up, glad of the opportunity to leave, while I stutter, "But... Frau Pols-"

"Make that an after-school detention now! I expect to see you both there!" I gather my things and slowly stand up, beginning the walk of shame across the classroom to the door. Glancing back in the classroom, I see everyone is staring, so I turn my back and push the door open, entering the hallway.

I spot Drew leaning on a locker a few feet to my right. Marching up to him, I poke him in his chest.

His rock hard chest.

Focus, Lyn! Now is not the time.

"I hope you're happy," I snap. He looks me in the eye slowly before grabbing my shoulders and spinning us around, pushing me against the lockers.

"Believe me, MacDonald. I am." With that he releases me and strides down the hallway towards the exit, leaving me gaping after him.

A/N So I need your guys' opinions. Is the story too fast/slow/unreadable? I'm sorry that it's kind of choppy; I haven't written in a while and I will try to make it smoother as it goes on.

Also, sorry that the POV's kept switching. I can keep chapters in one person's POV if you want. I know it can be a little hard to follow.

Btw, that German assignment is straight out of my notebook from last year :)

What do you think about Drew's plan to scare Kaitlyn off?

Comment and vote! Feedback is always appreciated!

Until I post again, I bid you Auf Wiedersehen!
