*Kaitlyn MacDonald*

Drew and I eventually fall asleep, and when I wake up in the morning he's gone. I'm still on the couch, a blanket tucked around me. The important thing is that it's covering my feet; how did Drew know I hate cold feet? Weird.

My nose is suddenly assaulted by the smell of bacon coming from the kitchen, and I push myself off the couch, blanket still wrapped around me. It smells slightly like his cologne, and I smile before pulling it tighter around myself.

Nobody is in the kitchen, the only sing of humans being the bacon, the answering machine beeping, and a note left on the table with my name on it. I grab a plate from the cabinet and place the bacon on it, setting it on the table before picking up the note.

It's from Drew.

Hey, nerd.

I woke up early because I had to get going. But text me if you want me to come back over. I know you don't have much of a hangover (at least I hope not), but if you want some company just let me know.

There's bacon on the stove for you, and I made you a smoothie (it's in the fridge). How did you not wake up to the sound of the blender? Usually I can wake any girl up ;)

I can see you blushing.

Also, somebody called the house phone, but I didn't hear it because the blender was going. They left a message though, so I would definitely check that out.

Had fun last night; hope we can do it again.

-Drew

I smack a hand to my face, feeling the heated skin from, you guessed it, a blush. How did he know? Creep.

My eyes scan the note again, only noticing the heart Drew signed by his name the second time down. A smile rises on my face, and the blush comes back.

The answering machine's beeping wakes me up from my Drew-induced reverie, and I quickly press the play button.

Hey, Kaitlyn! I hope your Halloween was great. Jordan's surgery was fine, as I think you know, and he's still sleeping because of the pain meds. When he wakes up, I'm probably going to take him and Peyton out to eat somewhere. You know, because he hasn't eaten since Sunday afternoon. Poor boy. We should be home around 3-ish; I'll call you when we're on our way back.

Also, has Sam contacted you? I haven't seen him since I left to take Jordan for his surgery. It's not that I don't trust him, I just get worried. Let me know if you hear anything.

Love, Grandma.

Well that was interesting. Grandma's message reminds me of Sam- I almost forgot I had a little brother! Pulling out my phone, I send him a quick text before diving into the bacon.

Half an hour later, the dishes are in the dishwasher and I've straightened up the couch. Stretching after placing the last pillow in place, I decide it's time for a shower, and I head up the stairs to turn the shower on.

As I make my way up the stairs, my phone buzzes with a text, and I look down to see who it is.

Oh, look. It's Beth.

I shut the phone off, not wanting to deal with her at the moment. After all, I'm pretty sure she and Drew had something. And it's not that that I don't mind, it's the fact that she never told me. I thought we were best friends, for goodness sakes!

I turn on the shower in my bathroom, then head back into my bedroom to decide what to wear for a lazy couch day. Quickly picking out new underwear and a new bra, I grab a pair of leggings before noticing a large sweatshirt on the floor by my bed. I dump the other clothes in the bathroom before picking up the strange clothing article.

It's a basketball hoodie from our basketball team. Maybe it's Jordan's? But that makes no sense. Why would it be in my room? I smell it quickly, and my heart flutters when I realize it's the same cologne that Drew uses. He must have taken it off last night when he was in here, before I came in.

I think I'll wear it today. Nobody is going to see me, after all.

By now, the shower is hot, and I step inside the bathroom, closing the door behind me. I quickly strip, throwing the clothes from the party last night in the laundry bin before brushing my hair and hurrying into the shower.

While shampooing, I hear a door shut downstairs, but I assume it's Sam. He did say he would be back sometime today, anyways.

What if it's not him? says my brain.

Well, in that case, at least my clothes are inside the bathroom and not in my room. That way, if I get kidnapped, as least I won't be naked.

Okay, self. Let's calm it down there and finish the shower.

Which I do.

I towel myself off and slip on my clothes, wrapping my hair in a towel. I smooth down my eyebrows with my fingers (seriously, I look like Chewbacca) before opening the bathroom door and stepping into my room.

My occupied room.

"Hey there, nerd. Long time, no see."

"Drew!" I scream, quickly grabbing a pillow and flinging it at him. "What are you doing in here? Get out!"

"Aw, but I came here to see you. You know, I had such a great time last night that I wanted to spend even more time with you."

"Really?" I raise an eyebrow (a perfectly smoothed one, mind you) skeptically.

"Fine, you got me," he replies, raising his hands in surrender. "I found your brother at my house with my sister. They were doing all sorts of stuff-"

"We were not!" a new voice calls. Sam stampedes down the hallway, his face flushed as he leans on my doorway.

"What is this, boys-invade-Kaitlyn's-room day?" I throw up my hands in exasperation. "You know what? Never mind. Sam, you and I are going to have a talk later today, after Drew is gone. No getting out of it."

"What? Why?" he whines. "It's not my fault Drew interrupted me! I was about to kiss her!"

"Been there, done that," grumbles Drew, who's sitting cross-legged on my bed with his arms around my pillow.

I shake my head. "Both of you, out, now. Please."

Both boys make their way out of my room, and I sigh before falling down on my bed.

I hear footsteps making their way back to my room, and Drew pokes his head in. "Nice sweatshirt, by the way," he comments.

"Thanks," I smirk. "You know, it belongs to this one guy that I know. He's great and all, but honestly he's the most annoying person I've ever met in my entire life. If you see him, can you let him know I'm keeping his hoodie? I think I like it better than I like him."

"And do you like him a lot?" Drew smirks, stroking an invisible beard.

"Hmm..." I say, pretending to contemplate. "Nope!"

"Harsh," he grimaces, clutching his heart. "I know when I'm not wanted. See you tomorrow, then. And you're welcome for breakfast."

"Thanks for that," I blush. "Now leave."

<.>

The next day at school, I'm nervous. I'm almost confident Beth won't remember anything from the party. And yet, I'm determined to get the truth out of her.

When the bell rings signaling the beginning of lunch, I don't wait for Beth at her locker like I normally do. After I've been at our lunch table for five minutes by myself, arms crossed, Beth and Parker cautiously sit down, Parker beside me and Beth in front of me.

"How are you? We haven't talked all day," Beth tries. I simply take a bite of my pasta, ignoring her. She tries again. "What happened? Did Drew do something?"

"He's not the only one that did something," I grumble. I hear an intake of breath from my right, and turn to see Parker's face.

"What are you talking about?" he inquires. "Did you guys, you know..." he trails off, face red in embarrassment.

Across the table, Beth spits out her detox water, all over my shirt. "What?"

"What?" I echo, angrily grabbing napkins to dry up Beth's spit water. "No, we did not hook up, thank you very much. I'm not a tramp, unlike some people."

Beth nods in agreement. "Yeah, I know what you mean. Jean Summers is awful."

"How do you know about her?" I ask, confused, forgetting for a moment about my wet shirt.

"One, she's my ex best friend. Two, it's not exactly hard to figure out that she whores around all the time. She's been with practically every guy in the school."

"Not me," whispers Parker.

"Be thankful for that," Beth snaps. I should be the one snapping here, not her. But that's something that I admire about Beth. Somehow, she manages to steer the conversation any direction she wants, even if she's completely oblivious to it.

"I'm going to get a new shirt, because Beth here spit all over this one," I say, shoving my lunchbox back into my bag.

"Oh, yeah. Sorry about that," Beth winces. "Do you want me to come with you?"

"No, that's fine. You can keep talking about your ex best friend and how she whores around now. I'll catch up with you guys later."

I head quickly to the office to ask for permission to get a new shirt from my car. Once there, I root around in my trunk, before holding up something in surprise. It's Drew's hoodie. I don't remember putting it in there.

Oh well. It's clean and dry, and I can always put my hair down to hide the name on the back. Everyone will think it's Jordan's.

When I get back into the building, 5th period has already started, and I still need to change my books out. When I'm at my locker, I hear footsteps approaching.

"Nice hoodie, doll."

"Thanks. Do you like it?"

"I like it so much, it might as well be mine."

"Isn't that funny."

"Yeah, it is. Why are you wearing it, if I may ask?"

"Beth and I had a little lunchtime spat. Literally. This was the only thing I could find in my car. Besides, it smells good."

"Glad to hear it." Drew smiles, a genuine smile that I've only seen a couple of times.

"Anyway," I say, checking my watch. "I should really get to class. See you for tutoring."

I turn to go to my class, but my wrist is grabbed and I'm pulled backwards.

"You look really good in my hoodie," Drew whispers in my ear, sending slight shivers all down my body. "Maybe you should wear my clothes more often."

Now, regular old Kaitlyn would blush and hide her face, mumbling some excuse and making a beeline for an exit. But I don't feel like being regular old Kaitlyn today.

I stand up on my tippy toes and rest my forehead on Drew's, his arms finding their way around me quickly. "Maybe I should."

I hear his breath catch, and his heart against mine increases its pounding rhythm. Am I having this effect on him? You bet your ass I am.

And boy, do I love it.
