Bria

I woke up in the middle of the night, still next to Chris. His dad didn't say anything about me staying here?

I looked over to see if he was asleep, instead he was sitting up, hunched over, staring at his phone. At this time at night?

"Chris." I said, startling him.

"Yeah?" He asked, locking his phone quickly.

Throughout our relationship, I'd never suspected him of doing things behind my back. Ever. So right now I felt ridiculous. He couldn't.

"Who ya textin?"

"My Dad. He left earlier, going to visit this guy from high school."

"Ohh. Cool. Sorry about falling asleep before we could..you know."

"It's cool." He said, going back to typing away on his phone.

"It's not too late." I said sitting up.

"Mhm." He mumbled, not really listening.

"Chris." I said more sternly, swiftly taking the phone out of his hand.

"Bria stop-" he said trying to pry the phone from my hands.

"Can you just talk to me for a second?!"

I looked at the unlocked phone, a text thread was still put up. The top read

Addison

I didn't bother reading the texts, I figured I shouldn't.

"Is this a friend of yours?" I asked him.

"Don't act like that, we aren't technically together."

"Since when did you care about technicalities?"

"Since...well- Braden- and.."

"Mmhmm." I said calmly, before laying back down. I'm not gonna flip out and explode on him. He's right, we aren't together.

Not by just talking to some random guy to piss him off, that's just stupid. Just by treating our relationship as one of a friendship, that's clearly what it is to him.

"Bria I'm sorry."

"Bria."

"I'm not dating her or anything, we were just talking."

"Do what you want Christopher, I can't control you." I told him, trying to force myself to go back to sleep.

Christopher

I woke up with a guilty feeling in my stomach, hopefully Bria had gotten over last night, and we'd be good now. She was in my bathroom doing her hair when I decided to finally speak up.

"Going to work?"

"Yeah."

"You want me to go get Forest now or-"

"It's cool, I'm bringing him with me today."

"In the store?"

"I just stay in the back and sort clothes, I think he'll be ok Christopher." She said chuckling.

"Chris." I corrected her.

"Hm?" She looked over at me.

"Chris. Quit calling me Christopher."

I thought we were past that shit a long time ago.

"I'm calling you by your name." She said, stepping out of the bathroom.

I'm not about to start another argument. So I let it go.

"Fine..you ready to go?"

"Yeah I already called my Uber." She said grabbing her remaining items and putting them in her bag.

"Why waste money on an Uber when I can take you?"

She didn't answer.

"Are you still mad?"

"I was never mad."

"Bria honestly I don't believe that. I mean you're-"

"My ride is here, I gotta go. Text me later, ok?"

"Ok.."

I couldn't figure out if she was pissed at me or not. I mean, she's not acting like she's angry..but she's not acting like she always does either. It's kind of like that attitude she had toward me before we were together.

As she went downstairs, I did some pondering. I shouldn't have been even texting Addison, it was just something to do! Without thinking twice, I blocked her number and deleted her contact.

So me and Bria should be good now.

Bria

The Uber driver dropped me off at Forest's friend's house, where he was already sitting on the porch with Trey.

"Where's Chris?"

"He's at home, you're coming with me today."

"I get to work in the store?!" He asked happily.

"No, you'll just be in the back with me while I work."

"Dang.." he mumbled to himself.

"Bria, how are you?" Trey's mother greeted me, stepping out the house.

"I'm good, I was just about to call a ride to pick up Forest and I."

"Oh nonsense, let me let me take you sweetheart."

"Field trip!" Forest and Trey yelled together.

β€”

Trey went with us to drop Forest and I off at my job. Luckily I'd made it on time, the hard part would be sneaking Forest past my co-workers without them asking questions.

I took him around the building to the back foot when I realized I didn't have my key.

Just my fucking luck.

"It's okay. We can knock." Forest said beating on the door.

"Forest don't-"

The door opened and I was met with the eyes of Kye, my coworker who works the cash register.

"Woah Bria, I ain't know you had a kid."

"He's my brother." I said stepping into the building with Forest.

"Oh cool...well...I hope I'm not stepping on any toes but, Braden put me back here with you for today."

"It's whatever Kye, but my brother is gonna be back here with us, is that cool?"

"Fine by me." He said stacking some boxes up.

"Forest you can just sit there and watch phineas and ferb on the iPad, ok?"

"Ok..am I still gonna get to have fun with Chris?"

"Forest I need you to understand that Christopher isn't gonna be around forever." I told him, beginning to fold and sort some jackets.

"Why not?"

"Because that's how life goes."

"So I won't see Chris anymore?"

"You'll see him sometimes, but not forever. He has his own life."

He went silent and turned to face the wall. I sighed, it's time I be real with him. Especially with the way my relationship with Christopher is going. Not in the way I anticipated.

I noticed he's turned his show off and was now typing on his iPad. Its best I leave him alone for now.

Chris

I'd made the decision to open my sketchbook again, despite the wave of depression I felt every time I did previously. I flipped past the pages of Bria quickly..damn she stresses me out.

I went to a blank page and put my pencil against the page. Nothing.

Without thinking about it, I drew hips. "No." I said to myself, before erasing it.

I was interrupted by my phone suddenly blowing up with iMessage notifications.

He clearly saved his own contact name.

christofer im not happy

Bria said you dont want to be with us forever

but you said we are brothers

I was confused at the least. Where was all this coming from? I sent a text back to him,

Forest, what are you talking about?

Forest:
chris Bria said you wont be around forever i dont get why you want to leave you said you liked us

Why the hell would Bria say that to him?

Me:
I'm not leaving, don't think that. Me and you are always gonna be friends, ignore what Bria says.

Forest:
ok πŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒ Bria is just weird sometimes I dont know why she said that.

And I don't know either. I know I pissed her off last night, but she knows the relationship Forest and I have. She wouldn't purposely mess it up...

A/n:
