Double update!!!!

Who's the best?

I AM!!!

Two weeks later...

Jax's odd visit dwelled in the back of my mind, but my curiosity and confusion was soon replaced with excitement.

Mel's coming today.

....I don't know how she managed to buy a house this fast.

Lydia and I were standing outside a two story light brown house. Three bathrooms, four bedrooms, open floor plan. It has a nice garden and it's in a nice neighborhood.

This was my new home.

A black Audi Q5 pulled up into the driveway.

A woman with short brown ombre hair and brown eyes stepped out. She was wearing a black and white stripped flowy top and skinny jeans with white flats.

She headed towards us with a smile on her face.

"Hi!" she greeted Lydia.

"Hello, I'm Captain Aferman of the BPD," Lydia answered.

"Nice to meet you," Mel said. Her eyes shifted to me.

"Hey," she whispered softly.

"Hi," I replied, suddenly shy.

She pulled me into a hug.

"I'm so glad to finally meet you!"

I smiled back at her just as brightly. "So am I."

"I'll leave you to it. Call me if you need anything," Lydia announced, waving goodbye.

"Thank you!" Mel called.

She ushered me inside after unlocking the door.

The floors were hard wood, and the walls were white. The entire place was empty.

"The movers are coming in soon with all my furniture," Mel explained. "But you don't have any of your own...?"

I nodded sheepishly.

The bed I slept in before was old, bloodstained, and ready to break, just like everything else.

"Not to worry! Onwards, to IKEA!" she cheered, leading me back through the door.

She was kinda weird.

I liked it.

We came back with a crap load of stuff.

We shopped for FIVE HOURS. That's a lot.

Although part of the time, we were just lying around in the rooms they made to display the furniture.

We ended up buying me a white queen-sized bed, a small white bedside table, a large white dresser, a black, furry bean bag chair, a soft black rug, a white desk, and a black swivel chair.

We also picked up some white, black and teal paint and golden wall stickers.

My rooms going to be black, white, and gold, and Mel's making hers teal and black.

"Uh, Mel?"

"Yeah, hon?"

"I never actually saw my room."

Her eyes widened. "Are we dumb or what?"

We climbed upstairs. There were four doors.

Mel's room is all the way to the right. Mine is on the left. The door closest to me is a guest room and the other one is a bathroom.

I opened the door and squealed so loud that Mel came rushing from her room.

"What's wrong?!" she panted, alarmed.

"I have a window seat AND a walk-in closet!"

We were just arranging some of the furniture the movers had brought from Mel's old place when we heard the door bell ring.

I opened the door and found the boys standing there, along with each of their mothers.

"Surprise!"

"Guys! Why didn't you tell me you were coming?"

"Cuz It's a surprise, duh," Noah said. His mother smacked him in the head and handed me a present.

"I will never understand how you willingly deal with him," she sighed, smiling fondly.

Everyone filed in, handing me their gifts as they walked by.

"You didn't have to do all this!"

"Yes, Jas, we did," Jackson said.

I decided to introduce them to Mel.

"Guys, this is Mel. Mel, these are my friends Jackson, Josh, Noah, and Lucas."

"Hi boys! It's nice to finally meet you!"

They mumbled a chorus of you too's.

"Why don't we go into the kitchen, ladies?" Olivia suggested. "We all brought some food to prepare."

"Good idea! The boys and Jasmine can open the gifts," Lucas' mom, Mrs. Sherf, agreed.

They disappeared into the kitchen, but Mel dragged me aside.

"You didn't tell me all your friends were boys!" she whispered excitedly.

I groaned, and she winked and walked away.

"Soooo, nice house, Jazzy," Lucas said.

"Thanks. And you guys didn't need to get me house-warming presents!"

Noah nodded. "I know, right? But my Mom, ugh."

We stared at him.

Jackson shook his head. "So disrespectful."

I sat down on the couch and grabbed one of the boxes.

"That's mine," Noah announced.

Inside was a circular mirror with golden arrows coming out from the center of the back.

"This will go perfectly in my room," I mused. "So this is why you asked me how I planned to decorate it..."
"Again, Mom said so," Noah reminded.

His mother poked her head into the room.

"I'm not deaf you know. Stop talking trash before I whoop your ass," she ordered.

I giggled behind my hand as Noah turned red.

"Yes,mam!" he said, saluting her.

"My turn," Lucas said, handing me a box.

It contained a bunch of golden room accessories.

There was a golden desk organizer, a gold and marble pencil holder, and golden candle holders that contained Yankee Candles.

"French Vanilla, my favorite scent!" I hugged him. "Thank you!"

"Me next!" Josh said, shoving a box in my direction.

Inside was a package of fairy lights and a large, golden, sculpture....
of a bottle of Nutella.

"OMG I LOVE THIS. YAAAAAS!" I cheered, hugging him.

"Jeez woman, my ear!"

I smiled and reached for the last box. It was pretty big.

"That's mine," Jax claimed.

Inside was a big, gold photo frame with a picture of me on the day we had a snowball fight in the park. I was tossing snow up in the air and laughing as it came down around me.

"Thank you soooooo much!" I squealed, wrapping my arms around him tightly. "When did you even take this?"

"A magician never reveals his secrets."

"When did you start using your old camera again?" Lucas asked.

Jax shrugged in reply.

The boys and their moms left after we all had a delicious potluck dinner.

"Goodnight, Mel!" I called heading upstairs.

"Wait one second!" She ran into my bedroom.

"Lydia mentioned that the boys don't know.... what happened," she said, awkwardly trying to avoid the word "abuse".

"You know you'll have to tell them eventually."

"I know," I sighed. "But I don't really want to have to deal with their reactions!"

"They really care for you. No matter how upset they get, nothing's gonna change that. Don't be scared. Tell them," she advised.

"I will."

-☺☺☺-

It's been a week since Mel and I had that conversation.

Three days of me procrastinating.

I tried to convince myself everyday that it was the right day to reveal my secret.

But nope.

Never happened.

QUEEN of procrastination right here.

Come on, Jasmine. You can't use "settling in" as an excuse now. The house is furnished, Mel got a job, everything is good. Just freaking tell them biotch!

Syke.

At the end of the day, the boys were trying to convince me to come to the arcade with them.

"Jazzyyyyyy," Lucas groaned. "C'mon, just two hours."
"Then you can study all you want!" Josh added.

"For meee?" Noah pleaded.

"Well, I guess...." (they all looked at me hopefully) ".... you can rot in hell."

"That's just cruel," Josh scoffed.

"I don't particularly enjoy arcade games, stinky shoes, and greasy pizza. I'd rather stay in my room and study for my test!"

"God damn it, Jas. Just come!" Jax finally burst, pulling at my arm.

Before I could stop him, the slightly unzipped jacket slipped down my arm, revealing dark bruises and light scars in the process of healing.

"What," Jackson began in an eerily calm voice, "...is THAT?!"
