"Jasmiiiiine. Jaaasmiiiiine!" a voice called, distorted by me drifting in and out on consciousness.

"Just five... more... days..." I mumbled to Mel.

Her deep and manly chuckle met my ear- wait, what?

I opened my eyes, only to see Jax shaking me awake.

I took one look at him and screamed bloody murder.

"Why the hell are you in my room?"

"Why the hell are you screaming? Get up!" he shot back, throwing a pillow at me.

"No!"

Another pillow smacked me in the face.

"Stop!"

This one sacked me in the stomach.

"Jackson Cooper Aferman!"

"How do you know my middle name?" Jackson asked as another pillow went flying.

"Noah."

Another pillow.

How many pillows are on this freaking bed?!

"What's going on?" Mel asked, walking in to the room.

"Jackson's being a-"

"Jasmine's being a-"

"Hush! Jasmine, get ready for school. Jackson, wait downstairs," she ordered.

Then she walked out, whispering "I'm acing this adult stuff" under her breath.

Jackson left behind her.

I brushed my teeth, washed my face, and walked into my closet. Mel and I had gone shopping, so it was filled with more than the five hoodies, three T-shirts, two leggings, and one pair of jeans I previously had.

I shrugged on a red flannel, blue skinny jeans, and a tan infinity scarf before heading to the mirror to stare at my reflection. My boring brown eyes had turned into a sparkling hazel, almost gold, color and my dull skin was glowing. I guess happiness is good for both your inner and outer beauty.

Jackson was gnawing on a piece of toast when I came downstairs.

"You ready?" he asked.

"Yup," I said, grabbing a bagel slathered in cream cheese. "Bye Mel! Good luck at your new job!"

"Thanks!" she called back.

I slipped on my new brown ankle boots and followed Jackson to his car.

"How many cars do you have?" I asked as we got into his silver BMW.

"Just two, this one and my Range Rover," he replied. "Plus my motorcycle."

"JUST two?!"

He shrugged. "Dad's partners with a few dealerships."

"Why'd you pick me up today?" I asked, changing the subject.

Jax didn't look at me when he replied. "Do you have a problem with it?"

Instead of answering, I turned on the radio.

"Boom clap
The sound of my heart
The beat goes on and on and on and on and
Boom clap
You make me feel good
Come on to me, come on to me now"

"Ugh, this is so old," Jax groaned, changing the station.

"Kiki, do you love me? Are you riding?
Say you'll never ever leave from beside me
'Cause I want ya, and I need ya
And I'm down for you always"

"Seriously? Ew," I said, changing the channel once again. I was so sick of that song.

"Let it go, let it go
Can't hold it back anymore
Let it go, let it go
Turn away and slam the door"

Jax and I groaned in unison, but before we could change the song once again, we arrived at school.

Blasting Let it Go.

Why did all those songs have to start at the chorus?

"I DON'T CAAAAARE, WHAT THEY'RE GOING TO SAAAAAY! LET THE STORM RANGE OOOOON! THE COLD NEVER BOTHERED ME ANYWAY!" Noah sang loudly, throwing his coat into the air. "Shit, bad idea." He lunged to grab the coat.

We stared.

"What? I have a little sister!" he said defensively.

"Really?" I asked.

"Yup! Nicole."

Huh. I guess I don't know as much about them as I thought.

"Wow, you look stylish!" Bhoomi complimented as we walked to our lockers.

"Thanks! My aunt and I went shopping! Oh, by the way, you and Camilla should come to the library during homeroom."

"'Kay."

-☺☺☺-

Bhoomi, Camilla and I sat on the beanbag chairs that were in the corner of the library.

"So, what do your parents do?" Bhoomi asked the dreaded question. Luckily, I had an answer prepared for this kind of emergency.

"My parents aren't around. I live with my Aunt Melody. She's a nurse," I said in a voice that hopefully sounded nonchalant, while I prayed that she wouldn't ask follow up questions.

"Oh cool," Bhoomi replied. She'd gotten the message, but I'm sure she was begging to ask questions.

I just couldn't trust her that quickly.

"So Bhoomi, Camilla, how's school so far?"

"It's nice," Camilla said.

"Thanks for introducing us to your friends, by the way," Bhoomi added.

"No problem."

"So what's the deal with you and Jackson?" she questioned.

"What?!" I sputtered.

"You like each other, don't you?"

"Pffft, me? Like him? You can file that under 'No chance in Hell'."

"Riiight."

The bell rang, so we gathered our books and headed to first period.

"By the way," Camilla said before we parted. "You can call me Cami."
