I woke to the sound of Jason's gentle snores as he slept. His chest was firmly pressed against my back as he held me close, bringing a smile to my face. My fingers lightly trailed up and down the length of the arm that he had draped across me, causing him to hum softly in his sleep.

My eyes scanned the clock on the mahogany nightstand, noticing that it was now almost noon. Neither of us intended to sleep so late, but we were both exhausted from the night. We had plans to get up and go furniture shopping as Jason had promised, but I didn't want to wake him, nor myself for that matter.

Besides, nothing beat the feeling of being wrapped up in Jason's arms while we slept. If I could stay like this forever with him, I'd do it without a single complaint.

As he woke, I felt him shuffle and take a deep breath before letting out a yawn.

"Hi, beautiful." He whispered before kissing me on the head. His voice was so raspy and deep in the mornings. It sent tingles shooting throughout my body.

"Hi, baby." I grinned, rotating my body so that I was now facing him.

A sleepy smile was plastered on his lips as he gazed down at me with half-open eyes.

"Did you sleep well?" I asked, running my fingers through his silky hair. It was still damp from his shower.

"Mhmm," He hummed, leaning forward and softly brushing his lips against mine before fully engulfing them in a sweet kiss. "No more nightmares?" He whispered, pulling back only slightly.

"No." I shook my head, tracing his perfectly crafted jawline. "What about you?"

Jason sighed, twirling a piece of my hair around his finger before finally shrugging his shoulders. "No, I mean...I still feel kind of off, but since the Filtered encounter, I honestly feel better, Liv."

"Well good, Jase, I'm glad," I whispered, watching as his Adam's apple bobbed as he swallowed.

Jason's brows pulled together suddenly as he propped himself up on his elbow, wiping the sleep from his eyes.

"What time is it?" He asked, squinting at the clock. "Shit, I wanted to take you furniture shopping before the stores got too crowded." He huffed, sitting up completely and resting his back against the headboard.

"We can still go, Jase. It's okay." I laughed, sitting up as well and climbing onto his lap.

Jason wrapped his arms tightly around my waist as my hands found their place on his broad shoulders.

"I know, but you know I hate crowds." He groaned as I laughed at his dismay.

"Jason, it won't be that bad. It's the middle of the week." I chuckled. "But we don't have to worry about it today...I like your apartment--our apartment the way it is." I corrected myself.

Jason's hands fell to my hips as he let his head roll to the side slightly. "I want you to have your office, sweetheart. You're always working in bed or on the sofa, and I think you deserve to have a nicer space to study."

"But Jason, honestly," I started, shaking my head. "I don't want you spending so much money to do that for me anyway. You already pay all the bills because I'm not working. What I have right now is enough."

"Just so we're clear, even if you were working, I wouldn't take a penny from you."I love you, and I'd like to be able to provide for you always. You've done nothing but bring me peace since you moved in."

As he held my hands lightly in his, I felt my eyes start to water. I felt so overwhelmed by the love seeping from the words he spoke and the look in his eyes that I couldn't help but get emotional. I never imagined I'd be with someone who cared about me as much as Jason did. Not in a million years.

"I love you too," I said, tears rolling down my cheeks. "I appreciate that, but once I'm a nurse, I need to help out." I laughed through my tears.

"We'll see, sweetheart." He smiled before caressing my lips with his own. "I'd give you the world if I could. You mean that much and more to me."

"Jase..."

"It's true." He smiled, brushing my hair behind my ear. "Let's get ready to go, okay?"

I nodded my head before holding his face gently in my hands and nearly smashing my lips into his with as much passion that I could muster. As our lips moved in sync, I could feel Jason's hands roaming all over my body, leaving an electrical sensation on every spot they touched. My back, neck, hips, chest, thighs, and all of me felt as if I'd been set on fire in the best way possible.

As he deepened the kiss even further, my arms latched themselves around his neck, holding me to him as he became the only solid form of matter in the world around us. Everything else seemed to disappear.

Jason's lips parted slightly as he sighed out when I rolled my hips against him, igniting friction between both of us.

"Baby?..." He breathed out, fighting to keep his breathing regular as I went straight for the waistband of his black sweats.

"What?" I questioned, sliding the band down just enough to give his erection room to spring up before me. "You can't talk to me like that, kiss me like that, and expect me not to want to do this," I smirked.

As I wrapped my fingers around his length, his eyes fluttered shut, and his head fell back against the fluffy white pillow behind him. I smiled, picking up the pace as Jason breathed heavily, grunting as I ran my thumb across his sensitive head.

"Fuck." He moaned out, feeling as my tongue trailed a line from the base of his length, all the way to the underside of his swollen glans.

I repeated that action several times, earning myself a round of blissful moans from Jason before I took him entirely into my mouth, sucking at him like he was the tastiest treat my tongue had ever tasted.

"Oh my god." He breathed out, tangling his fingers in my hair as I bobbed up and down, swirling my tongue playfully around the tip with every opportunity I got.

The lust and desire boiling over inside me as I pampered Jason couldn't be contained as I moaned against him. The vibrations from my throat must have been just enough to send Jason over the edge because he tensed up, filling my mouth with his hot seed before relaxing back against the bed, limp as a noodle.

I swallowed, wiping my mouth with the back of my hand before gazing into his shocked eyes.

"What?" I asked with a laugh, watching as he lethargically scratched his head. "I've never cum that fast before in my life."

"I mean, we haven't done anything in almost a week." I shrugged, straddling his lap once more. "Or maybe I'm just that good." I winked, watching as he let out a soft chuckle.

"True and truer." Jason chuckled before pulling me toward him and placing a kiss on my lips, and then peppering more onto my neck with clear intentions.

"Jase." I giggled, pushing him away.

He looked at me with furrowed brows, "What? I'm just trying to return the favor." He smiled.

"Well, for starters, I didn't do that as a favor. I genuinely wanted to do it. And secondly, I'm on my period." I laughed, watching as he rolled his eyes.

"Damn." He huffed, causing me to laugh some more. "At least we know you aren't pregnant."

"For real." I agreed, nodding my head. "I don't think we've used a condom once."

"Well, you're on birth control, aren't you?" He asked, cocking his head to the side.

"Yeah, but so was Cass," I chuckled, watching as Jason shook his head. "We need to be more careful, Jase, before you end up putting a baby in me."

"I wouldn't be too mad about that."

"Well, I would." I laughed, shaking my head at him. "No babies for us. We have a godson, and that's good enough for now."

"Agreed." Jason smiled, kissing the back of my hand. "Well, I think we should get ready now, sweetheart."

"Probably." I smiled, trying to climb off of him to get to the bathroom, but his hand wrapping around my forearm stopped me.

"Jason, let me go. I have to pee." I laughed, trying to wriggle out of his hold, only to get pulled back against him.

"One more kiss." He pouted, causing me to roll my eyes as I leaned down to peck him.

"Now, let me go before I pee on you."

"Oh, kinky." He winked, smacking my butt as I got up from the bed.

"Jason, you're disgusting." I chuckled before disappearing into the bathroom with the sound of his deep chortles filling the air.

"You love me!" He yelled out as I shut the door behind me with a grin.

Jason and I spent the rest of the day buying office furniture together. It was honestly enjoyable for both of us. A lighthearted venture was sorely needed for the both of us, and I ended up being so grateful that he'd suggested it.

As Jason brought in the last of the boxes, I shut the front door behind him, watching as he let out a sigh of relief as he set the heavy shelf on the floor.

"Well, that's everything, sweetheart." Jason sighed, plopping down on the leather sofa. "I'll get up and start putting your desk together once I catch my breath. I want to get that done tonight, maybe even your bookshelf."

I sat beside him on the sofa, letting my head rest on his shoulder. "Whatever you feel like doing tonight is fine with me, babe. Thank you for doing this for me."

Jason kissed my forehead tenderly as he wrapped his arm around my shoulders. "I want this place to feel like home for you too, Liv...we haven't changed much since you moved in, and like I said before, I want you to have your own space to study and do all your school stuff...or even just go in there if you need some space from me."

"I don't think I could ever spend too much time with you." I pouted, watching as he shot me a half-smile.

"I think you'll change your mind about that once the excitement of us finally living together wears off."

Snickering at him, I watched as he rose from the sofa, heading over to the box that held the white desk I picked out for the office. It was everything I wanted, from the modern glass top to all the storage space it came with.

"I'm gonna get started on this sweetheart, are you hungry?" He asked, digging around in his pockets. "Here." He stated, handing me his debit card. "Order us dinner, whatever you feel like eating I'm cool with."

"I'm feeling wings tonight, lemon pepper or buffalo?"

Jason looked at me as if  I was crazy, "Um, both. And make sure you get fries!"

I nodded, laughing at his expression, "All right, baby. Both it is."

As Jason started unpacking the desk, I grabbed my laptop from the side table to order our food. When I was finished, I wandered off into the office, where Jason was looking at the instructions to put my desk together. Watching him so absorbed in what he did was quite the turn-on.

"What?" He asked, noticing me staring.

His bright blue eyes rose from the paper, landing right on mine as I flushed.

"Oh, nothing." I sang before taking a seat beside him. "How can I help?"

"Actually, would you mind grabbing my toolbox from the cabinet under the sink, baby girl? It should be on the left-hand side."

Nodding my head, I stood up from the floor and made my way to the kitchen and over to the cabinet that he said it should be in.

"Jase, I don't see it!" I yelled out, moving things around to see if my eyes missed it upon my initial scan.

"Well, check the one next to the dishwasher, sweetheart!" He shouted back.

Just as I straightened back up to check the other cabinet, there was a knock at the door.

"Is someone knocking?" Jason asked, peeking his head out from the office.

"Yeah, it's probably just Cassie. Let me get it." I sighed, making my way over to answer it.

Fully expecting Cassie to be standing in the hall, I was taken aback when my eyes landed on a woman who had to be in her 40's at least. Her eyes were honey brown, and her shoulder-length hair was curled neatly. Her smile lines showed as she greeted me with a warm grin.

"Hi, I'm sorry to bother you so late." She started, glancing down at her feet and back up at me before continuing. "Does a young man by the name of Jason live here?" She asked.

I pulled my browns together in confusion as I felt Jason walk up behind me.

"I'm Jason. How can I help you, ma'am." He questioned, resting his hand on my shoulder.

The woman fiddled with her fingers nervously, seeming to search for the proper words to say. "Jason, my name is Taylor, Taylor Boyd. I'm your father's wife...."

Jason stiffened behind me as she spoke. I turned my head to look at him, noticing that all the color had drained from his face and his jaw was clenched tightly.

"Uh, okay?" Jason stated, confused. "What can I help you with?"

"Actually, I was wondering if I could talk to you about something important. Something about your dad."

Jason shook his head, muttering something beneath his breath.

"He's not my dad," Jason spoke up, stepping in front of me.

I stood behind him, wrapping an arm around his waist as he focused on Taylor.

"I'm not trying to be rude, but I'm not interested in talking to you about anything, especially pertaining to him."

"Jason, this is really important." She stressed, her eyes growing teary. "I really think it's something you should know...just so there are no regrets on either side."

"The only one regretful is that bastard." Jason spat, causing Taylor to flinch. "I'm in the middle of something, so I'm going to get back to it."

"Jason, wait!" Taylor pleaded, catching the door with her hand as Jason attempted to shut it.
"Just wait."

"What?!" Jason yelled, causing me to flinch back this time. "What else could you possibly have to say? I didn't care to listen to him when I met up with him, and I don't care to listen to what you have to say either. You people are crazy! I mean, how did you find my exact address anyway?" He ranted, scanning her judiciously.

"I know you two didn't have the best relationship, Jason. I know he wasn't a good father to you. But he's-"

"He's what?" Jason asked with a cynical laugh. "What rationalization are you going to attempt to throw at me this time."

"He's dying," Taylor whispered, looking directly into his eyes. Tears filled her own eyes as she grew emotional.

Jason stared at her expressionlessly, void of any emotion.

"He has liver disease...end-stage liver cirrhosis, and his doctors have only given him months to live..." Her voice cracked as she willed herself not to cry. "We've been trying to make the best of what time he has left, but the only thing he wants is to make amends with his son, you."

A jaded laugh escaped Jason's lips as he stared Taylor directly in the eyes, "You can tell him I hope he burns in hell."

"Jaso-"

Before she could even finish her sentence, Jason had slammed the door shut in her face before rushing off into the bedroom, slamming that door behind him as well.

I stood in the exact spot he had left me in, completely astounded by what just transpired. I didn't know whether to follow after him or give him space, but before I could even decide, the sound of glass shattering echoed from the bedroom.

Panic filled me as I ran over to the room with my heart pounding at my ribs. My breath hitched in my throat as I came to a halt, taking in the scene before me. My hands flew up to my mouth in shock as I scanned Jason's hand, dripping with blood, and the full-length mirror that once leaned against the bedroom wall completely fragmented.

"J-Jason," I whispered, tip-toeing over to him slowly, careful of the shards of glass that had been plastered across the dark wooden floors.

He stood there, breathing heavily, back against the wall and hand held tightly against his chest.

"Baby," My voice shook as I reached out to examine his hand. "Let me see."

Jason allowed me to touch him, flinching as I took his hand into mine. I looked up at him, shaking my head as tears filled my eyes, stinging them as they did so.

"I-I'm sorry." He croaked out, drawing his hand back. "I didn't mean to do that, I-I don't want you to think I'm-"

"Come here." I cut him off, pulling his large frame into my arms as he buried his face into the crook of my neck.

Though he made no sound, I knew he was crying as his warm tears began to soak into the fabric of my t-shirt.

"I'm here," I whispered, unable to contain my own tears at this point.

Jason began to slide down, inducing me to lower myself with him until we were both kneeling on the floor, surrounded by glass and the blood that dripped from his probably broken hand.

"I'm right here," I whispered once more as he clung tightly to me.

A/N: I don't think Jason was expecting the news about his dad to affect him so heavily, but the loss of an abusive parent can be a whirlwind of emotions.
