Sophie pov

We had lunch in silence. I was all riled up but the magical effect of his smile was that by the end of the lunch I was no longer angry.

"Sophie, what is your plan for the day?"

I had nothing special to do except I had planned on preparing a lavish dinner in the evening.

"Nothing out of ordinary. Hospital and office."

"I wanted to ask you something."

What did he want to ask now?

You just have to let him speak, Einstein.

Ignoring my subconscious, I just signalled him to continue.

"Can I inform your parents and Thomas that I found you. I am not informing my parents or else they will fly here."

I released a sigh and told him to do that. There was no point of hiding it from my parents now. He was already here.

"Did your parents know Sophie that you were in Woodslock?"

I didn't know why I didn't tell them and I still don't know the reason.

"No, they didnot. Though I did talk to them once in a while but I never told them where I was. All they knew is I am working in some village as a doctor. They never asked and I never told them. Maybe they didn't ask because they didn't want to keep you in the dark."

I told him the first thing that came to my mind. I wasn't sure if he was satisfied with my answer but he chose to not comment on that.

"I am glad I found you Sophie."

I kept quiet and changed the topic.

"Do you want anything special for dessert?"

"Yes, you."

And I was sure that I turned as red as a tomato.

"Fuck you."

"Gladly."

Was I as red as a tomato before? Then I don't even know what I looked like now. I just took our plates and rushed to the kitchen and he just sat there and laughed.

It was an hour after I left, I could no longer concentrate on the work. So, I decided to call it a day and headed home. And when I reached the front door I heard Xander on the phone.

".....fine mom. I understand."

Mom! His mother? No, wait. He did tell me that he will be calling my parents. So it must be my mother. After telling myself how wrong is it to eavesdrop on someone's conversation I placed my ear on the door and decided to eavesdrop.

"Well I will send you an article which will make you more proud of your daughter than you already are."

What article is he talking about? What exactly is going on? Not able to hold my curiosity any longer I went inside.

"Mom, I will call you later."

I went inside and stood in front of him.

"Sorry for eavesdropping but what article."

I was not sorry. Not at all.

"I was wondering why you didn't ask me how I found you."

Now this was a good question. Why didn't I think about it? Or I had been so happy in just having him in front of me I didn't even think of the first question that should come to mind. But I am not admitting that.

"I was not hiding that I will be worried about you finding me. I am not a criminal Xander."

Liar, liar, pants on fire.

And then I understood what I was doing before. When my parents claimed that they understand when I myself could not.

I was hiding from Xander.

Shit, Sherlock.

"Very well. But it did take me two years to find you."

Was I so good at hiding myself without even knowing I was hiding!

"Then you need to improve your team. If they couldn't find a person who is not hiding how can you expect them to find someone who is hiding."

Now this was true. With a lot of effort I effortlessly hid myself. Well, I think it must be difficult for him. For me, it was like everything was arranged on a platter. I didn't even know the name of the village myself so I never mentioned it to him. It was just my lucky day that everything worked out for me.

And then he showed me the article.

"Dr Sophie Williams, a non resident of Woodslock, a village near Santa Fe has done extraordinary. In just six months of her tenure of a village head she has transformed the village to such an extent that the council have decided to turn it to a town.
Here are some pictures of Dr Williams with the locals. She surely is an inspiration to all the women out there."

Oh wow! They had really exaggerated everything. Reading this I was so proud of myself.

"When did they publish this?"

I asked re-reading the article making sure it was me they were talking about.

"Around a week ago but I am happy they did. You know baby I am so proud of you."

And he wrapped his arms around my neck, pecked me on my lips and looked at me so much love, adoration and pride that for a second I forgot to breathe.

How did I get so lucky?

Have you ever done something you had no idea of until you heard from the other party? You kept doing things subconsciously without knowing the actual reason? And when realisation dawns on you, you are like, 'oh was that really me. But why would I do that?'
And the funniest thing is you are just as confused as the person in front of you who is confused seeing you in confusion.
Too much confusion!
