As I approached the address, the surroundings got familiar. And then it hit me.

It was the cottage. My grandparents cottage.

Without wasting any more time I rushed towards it and it was locked. The cottage was in a much better condition than before because last I remember there wasn't even a gate talk about a lock.

I didn't have much time in my hands so I frantically began searching for the keys because knowing Sophie she would always leave keys of the place at that place itself.

And to my luck I did find the keys under the podium.

As I entered a gasp left my mouth. I was stunned. I couldn't believe my eyes. The patterns, the furniture was almost restored. Similar to what it was before the fire. Only the piano, and grandpa's painting was missing.

And suddenly realisation came to me with full force.

I dragged my feet to the car and quickly took out the wrapping paper.

It was the painting. It was my grandpa's painting. All the time she was trying to do something memorable for me, putting all the efforts and emotions and I like a douchebag threw her out of my life.

She was my Sophie.

She always valued time and feelings more than money. She tried giving me something my money couldn't buy.

How did I let that gem go?

I picked up the wrapping paper and began searching any details of the shipping company. I knew they wouldn't give the record easily so I pulled up some strings. Texting my assistant to find all the details entrailing that order I headed home.

I had to find my heaven and bring her back. No matter how much I have to beg, maybe I will beg for her forgiveness my entire life but I will get my Sophie back.

I tried calling Thomas but he as always just ignored my call. In being blinded I didn't just loose the love of my life but also my best friend.

Finally after calling Thomas for like fifteen times he picked up my call.

"Mr Smith, is there anything I can do for you."

"Thomas, please. Don't do this. I can't loose my bestfriend too."

"Mr Smith, is there any problem."

My heart was breaking every passing second. I felt lost. Sophie was always there to guide me whenever I had any problem. She was my torch in the dark.

"Please."

My voice was just above a whisper.

"Xander, where are you? I will be at your place in twenty."

And finally I let the lone tear slip off my eye.

I reached my place and Thomas and Carla were already there at the door. As soon I saw them I rushed and hugged Thomas. I did not care about how I looked. I was just a broken man now.

As we headed inside, I could feel memories of my Sophie. And it broke my heart even more.

"Did you speak with her?"

Thomas knew who I was referring to.

"Just once. A day after she left."

"What did she say?"

"She made me promise to never leave you alone."

"Did she not tell you the reason she chose to leave me?"

"She gave me a vague answer for that. Said camp under the stars."

And I couldn't control my tears any longer. Sophie always thought about others before herself. No matter what the person did to her she could never harm anyone.

That was her.

This selfless was her love.

And she made me realise again.

I do not and can never know how to love like her.
