Sophie pov

It was already late and I was rushing home to make dinner for my husband. We had been married for three years now after dating for eight years but I always make sure that we eat dinner together. The only time we miss is when he is out of station.

He is the one of the youngest billionaire who made everything he had from the scratch. People call him lucky. They say that all he has is luck. He seems to invest at the right place at right time. But I know him better. I saw how hard working he is. How determined he is. I have seen him fight his way to the top. Midst all the predators ready to attack him the first chance they get, I have seen him struggle to survive. I have seen him in his worst days.

And for me he is a wonderful man. For the world he may be ruthless or arrogant but for me he is the most hardworking, determined and caring person.

Its tough being with him. I never wanted this life. This life of luxury repels me. I would rather stay in bed munching crisps then attend all those parties and balls. But with power comes responsibilty. And being a wife of a businessman pushes me out of comfort zone way too many times.

But I know I have to do it. He doesn't demand anything from me. For sure he is the most understanding and caring husband I could ask for. The least I can do is accompany him to the parties.

Is our life all rainbows and sunshines?

No it is not. The paparazzi around never lets us have our private time. If I am not wearing my makeup they start there speculations of me being in depression or worst  on drugs. They never fail to link his name with one model or the other. But I know him better. I can read him like an open book. I know when he lies. And I also know he will never lie to me.

The eyes of others are not needed to find your self worth Sophie. What public evaluation creates is an illusion. You need to find your self worth yourself.

Its just Xander's words that keeps me going or else I would have broken down a long time ago.

He did have scandals, till date he had two, but it was all a made up bullshit and we sued the agency for spouting such absurd things.

Like any other mature couple, we sat back and dealt with it. I trust him enough to know that he would never cheat on me. And he respects that.

Its Xander's birthday in few days. And I have been planning to give him something associated from his childhood. A small cottage he has as a memory of his grandparents. The faded patterns that adorned the walls of that cottage, I am trying to restore it. Along with a painting that was destroyed in that cottage when it caught fire. His grandpa drew it himself. And I know though he never admits he misses his grandparents a lot.

They were more of his parents than his real parents are.

And because of that I had been running late for the past few weeks.

Working as a doctor is really tiring. And after the shift ends I have to rush to the cottage which is atleast half an hour drive from my hospital and almost an hour drive from our home.

We don't live in the heart of the city as I prefer living in a more secluded area away from the hustle bustle of city life.

We do have a mansion and though I donot feel the need, I can't object to it. It is something that Xander needs to keep up with his reputation.

When I reached home it was too dark for my liking. I couldn't find any staff near the kitchen too. I was afraid. So I ascended towards the kitchen cabinet to take out a knife. But before I could do that I heard footsteps behind me.

And as I turned around.

I could make out his silhoutte.

It was him.

Always look for someone who looks at you beyond your external appearance. With whom you can be yourself without the fear of judgement. Who can put words to your silence and pick out the pain behind your anger. It is difficult to find in this world but never settle for less.
