"After 100 yards, take a left."

"Don't be ridiculous! I know where to go. Listen to me, not the stupid computer lady!"

"I assure you, that is not happening ever again. We will follow the GPS. Your navigational skills are shit."

"Careful there. I might just drown in all of the compliments you're sending my way."

"Make sure you drown in the right direction, will you?"

I looked at Torryn Cole, my eyes wide with disbelief and anger. "You...you imbecile! You absolute pigeon! "

At this, he only raised an eyebrow and looked as cool and calm as ever, "Indeed? Pigeons have a great sense of direction. "

When we left the police station in a black Audi convertible, for which, I'm pretty sure, even if just for a moment or two, affection shone through Torryn's eyes (I wouldn't blame him, the car was a sexy little beast), he had made the mistake (his words, not mine) of asking me for the directions to my house.

My house was, perhaps, thirty minutes away from the police station, if you went by car. But, due to my extraordinary navigational skills, we had managed to go to the exact opposite part of the town than we intended to be in. So, after consulting the GPS, we had gotten back on the right track in about 45 minutes.

And, in this way, I discovered that Torryn Cole was not quite as tight-lipped as everyone thought him to be. In fact, he was almost as witty and sarcastic as me. Almost.

My, oh my, all these surprises would surely kill poor little me one of these days.

Coming back to the present, I narrowed my eyes at the smug-looking son of a biscuit. "Not another word about directions, Cole, or I shall kick you out of this car."

"If you kick me out of the car, you'd have to drive. I didn't know you could drive."

"I don't, " I smirked at him. Torryn Cole was quite smart. He understood the underlying threat beneath my words very quickly. His hands tightened around the steering wheel of his beloved car protectively and his eyes narrowed.

"You, Aria Miller, are a cunning little creature." Even though he said this with the seriousness of a person being threatened, his lips twitched upwards just the littlest bit.

"Yes. I wouldn't deny that."

He snorted at this, "You're most generous for admitting that, M'lady, " he said with a straight face.

My eyes narrowed, "Yes, yes. I'll be just as generous when I kick your ass."

At this, he raised an eyebrow without letting his eyes stray from the road ahead of us.

He sounded as if he were deep in thought, when he said, "You know, Miller, I never thought of you to be a violent person."

I smiled, looking out of the window. I awwed internally when I saw two Shih-Tzus being walked by a girl.

"Well, then, you were too quick to judge me."

The car was silent for a moment.

"I suppose I was."

I raised an impressed eyebrow at him, "Will you look at that? One car ride with me and you've basically bared your heart to me, Torryn Cole. But, don't expect me to tell you my deepest, darkest secrets now."

"I wouldn't dare to," Now, he was definitely smiling. Even though it was the smallest of all smiles, he had one on his face. The emotionless mask that he always had on seemed to be made of stone. So, it was, naturally, very surprising for me to see the stone crack in such a way.

Just when I was going to voice these thoughts out loud, the car came to a stop. I looked outside to see that we'd arrived at my house after approximately one hour and thirty minutes.

"This is your house, right?" He asked with a bit of amusement in his voice, as if the extra one hour he had just wasted in the car with me didn't bother him.

"Well, we're finally here, then, " he said when I nodded.

"And so we are. Would you like to come inside?"

"Not today, I'm afraid. I have to be somewhere in 20 minutes."

I winced, "Yeah, I'm sorry about, you know, taking you for an impromptu long drive. But, thank you for dropping me home, " I took in a deep breath, "Well, Cole, if you ever need to bury a dead body, buy the cutest stuffed penguin or squash someone's car, just let me know."

"I...will be sure to, Miller," He shook his head, one corner of his mouth lifting up.

I got out of the car and shut the door, "Au revoir, Torryn Cole. May you conquer the worl- wait, no! That's what I want. May you..um...eat a chocolate cake? No, no, that's what I want, too. Hmm. May you, yes, I've got it finally! May you die a quick death!"

"Thank you very much, M'lady. You're most kind, " he said, with a deadpan expression.

Then, his features softened the littlest bit again, "Bye, Miller."

I gave him a mock salute. "Bye, Cole."

I walked towards the door of my house, opened it and turned to see him and his car still in front of my house.

Was he waiting for me to go inside?

I waved at him. He nodded and took off in his sexy beast of a car.
