How the fuck did I not die?

I'm floating through an abyss. My body feels cold yet warm, heavy yet light.

Suddenly I became blinded by a radiant light that seemed to be beckoning for me to go towards it. My body headed towards the light and I reached out my hand...

"Omg guys, she's waking up! Someone go get Recovery Girl!"

"I'm on it!"

"Young Y/N! Can you hear me? Are you feeling better"

I slowly sit up, hand holding my head to somehow soothe the pain. Taking a look around, I notice that I'm in the nurse's office. My eyes roam across the room and see familiar faces: All Might, Uraraka, Todoroki, Shoji, and Ojiro. I give them a weak smile and say,

"Nothing's better than the bliss of feeling as if your head got smashed in."

Uraraka cringes at my words and I give her an apologetic smile. I turn to All Might and see the wheels above his head turning.

"That was very reckless of you young Y/N, the injury you sustained could've been worse if Recovery Girl wasn't ready on standby."

"Sorry All Might, but how was I supposed that I was gonna get my head bashed in by some debris. It shouldn't even be a surprise that someone was going to get hurt with the training that we were doing today."

I shrugged my shoulders and gave him a small smile.

"Well like you said, it's good Recovery Girl was there so all's well that ends well."

After finishing my mini conversation with my instructor, me and my friends that visited me talked for a bit until we realised it was getting late. We all said goodbye to each other and while everyone was leaving, I noticed one however was still unmoving from his spot. After the last person left and closed the door, I looked at him and asked,

"Soooooo, how's it going buddy?"

"You should... everything"

"What was that?"

"You should have just let me do everything."

I look at him in shock and notice how serious Todoroki is at the moment. I let out a deep sigh and scratched my head.

"Listen Shoto, I don't regret anything and I'm proud to say that we were able to work together. Who gives a crap that I may have gotten hurt in the process anyways, remember, hero work doesn't always have people come out unscathed."

"Why do you insist on trying to act like a team, better yet friends. We aren't here to make those, we are here to become heroes. You probably have something you're trying to gain by getting close to me in the first place."

Now I'm pissed.

"Ok now hold the hell up. Do you actually think I'm trying to have leverage or some shit by befriending you? If that's truly how you think, then you're mistaken. In no way whatsoever am I trying to gain shit by other peoples' background or status. I truly want to be friends with you and I thought even you had agreed to it. Guess I was wrong. I don't want anything from you. Now if you'll excuse me, Ima head home."

I grab my stuff and start walking to the door, not bothering to look in his direction.

Guess I just lost a friend.

As I'm about to open the door, I felt my wrist get held back by his hand. I sigh and turn around, now facing him with a look of disappointment. What I didn't expect to see is a look of apologeticness to be written all over his face.

"I- I'm sorry. I was insensitive and didn't bother to care about your opinion. I guess I'm just not use to stuff like this..."

I smile at him and put my hand on his shoulder.

"It's fine Shoto, forgive and forget am I right?"

"Forget what?"

"... Nevermind."

He releases my wrist that I didn't notice he was still holding and sticks out his hand. Confused, I look at his hand and then back to his face.

"... Friends?"

I gave him the look of shock which then morphed into happiness. I gripped his hand and smiled widely.

"Friends."
