Acacia/Ciarán - Age 18

Ohhhh...my...god...

I turn away from the sight, having drawn their attention, I'm quick to run back a bit. I'm in shock, my hands almost numb as I lean against a divot in a tree trunk. My eyes are wide as I stare at the tree bark, shaking slightly as I can't get the image out of my head.

Lailoken was right...

...Taron and he are true mates and that was their wolves...

...mating.

Breathing out and turning around, I slide down against the trunk, pulling the hood of my coat up over my head. My hands are over my ears as my eyelids shut tightly together. I can't unsee what I just saw...

...I feel immobilized though, pulling my knees up to my chest as my chin rests on the tops of them. I can feel how much my cheeks burn with embarrassment, for what I'd walked into without even having the slightest clue. It's awhile, not knowing how much time has passed, though I don't want to move...

Warm breath fans my face and I slowly open my eyelids. Tilting my chin up, I can see them standing in front of me while I slowly move my knees down and away from my chest. The second my eyes glance from both Fenrir and my wolfie, my cheeks immediately redden and I shake my head, looking back down at my knees. Taron's wolf whines and I feel his muzzle bumping against my side as he tries to get his nose up under my arm.

A low bark comes from Fenrir and I hesitantly look up. I'm still uneasy, my wolfie managing to get his big head between one of my arms I have raised up as I'm still covering my ears. I drop my arms and Taron's wolf looks up at me while plopping down on the ground. It's in his eyes I see the sadness and regret, almost saying I'm sorry when he lowers his chin against my thigh.

"Please...please don't hurt me again..." my voice is soft, tears gathering in my eyes as I tell my wolfie, "I've always loved you and you really hurt me..."

Taron's wolf licks my hand, moving his muzzle up to my face while his nose nudges my face. He's sniffing my scent when his muzzle travels down my neck, my hood falling backward. When he gently licks at the soft spot where my neck meets my shoulder, he whimpers, and whines. He nods his head, knowing he's done wrong by me and it's taken Lailoken to snap him into reality.

My arms wrap around his back, burying my cheek into the side of his neck as I whisper, "I forgive you, wolfie."

It's a high pitch, quick whine, and bark that comes from the back of his throat. He pushes his head against my side while snuggling into me, his paws resting on my thighs. Fenrir pads to the other side of me, turning around before lowering himself onto the ground. His large head lies against my thighs, snuggling closer to my abdomen, his tongue flicking out before he presses a little harder against me. Their warmth seeps through my clothes and to my flesh, the cool air no longer affects me.

My breathing is even, not realizing that I'm dozing off until I'm moved. I don't even open my eyelids, all the anxiety and stress I'd pent up from what I believed would happen with Taron... it's released from my muscles and draws me into a deeper sleep.

When I wake up, it's with my forehead pressing into Lailoken's bare chest. His arms are around me, holding me close while I hear the steady rhythm of his heartbeat.

He knows I'm awake, his voice low as he says, "You were quite tired."

"I fell asleep with Fenrir...and my wolfie?" I ask him as I pull back away slightly, glimpsing around the room that had been made for us.

Lailoken chuckles and corrects me, "Marcel."

"Huh?" I furrow my brows while glancing back to him.

"You do realize that Taron's wolf has its own identity and name as well, correct?" Lailoken arches a brow and my cheeks redden.

Marcel.

Fenrir and Marcel.

Lailoken and Taron.

Lailoken releases a sigh and apologizes, "I'm sorry for what you saw," he pauses as I glance away, "I never thought you would have gone into the woods at night, especially ones you are unfamiliar with."

"I..." my voice trails off before I stammer, "...I-I was w-worried..."

A light smile plays on his lip as he quickly plants a kiss on mine. He chuckles and says, "You don't have to worry about me, though I do find it adorable."

There is a knock on the door, furrowing my brows as I look at Lailoken. He sits up in the bed while I mimic his movements, as he says, "Come in."

A few moments later, the door opens and at first, I see it's Taron's back. A second later, he turns around while closing the door with his side. When he turns to face me, my eyes widen before they narrow and I turn to Lailoken grumbling, "You told him..."

Taron holds two mugs in his hands and I can already smell the hot chocolate.

"Don't look too surprised," Lailoken takes the one that Taron offers him, my eyes trailing on him as he finishes, "there are no secrets between us, there should never be."

Arching a brow, I take the mug from Taron before shooting Lailoken a glance and asking, "So I assume you've told him I'm your goddess?"

Lailoken nearly spits out the coffee back into the mug and Taron asks, "Wait..what?"

A sly smirk sets on my face before I take a humble sip of hot chocolate and mock, "What happened to no secrets?"

"Goddess?" Taron furrows his brows and asks, "Is that some kind of...pet name for her?"

Before Lailoken can say anything, I shake my head and reply, "Oh no...he has a few...including, but not limited to; kitten, baby girl, Ek-"

"Acacia," Lailoken's voice holds an edge and I feel it root in my muscles. I release a sigh and go back to sipping my hot chocolate. He glances to Taron and states, "There's still much that needs to be talked about...however," he takes a slight pause as Taron sits down onto the chair next to the bed, "I'd rather it be with our beloved as well."

My breathing is uneven as I ask, "We're...we're going to..."

"Beloved..." Taron's voice now holds a darker tone before stating, "...after everything you've said the vampires have done to Acacia...she doesn't need a beloved."

Lailoken arches a brow and replies, "This one is different-"

"They're all the same-"

"Little wolf...what did we just talk about?" Lailoken cuts Taron right off and I glance between the two of them. Taron remains very silent, his muscles tensing as Lailoken sets his coffee mug on the side table and praises, "Good boy, we don't speak when daddy's talking...are we clear?"

"Yes," Taron replies with slight defeat.

My eyes widen again as this time, it's me who is spitting my hot chocolate back into the mug. I'm coughing also, shaking my head when Lailoken and Taron go to check on me.

So...

...it took a more dominant wolf to set Taron straight?

Here he's an alpha, but he's immature and needs guidance still...

"I'm fine," I'm giggling this time.

"What's funny?" Taron narrows his eyes at me.

"Oh...nothing..." my voice trails off and Lailoken takes the mug from me, setting it down next to his so I don't spill.

Lailoken stands up from the bed, changing into fresh clothes. He pulls on his boots, while he tells us, "Taron, you're going to have to make your choice and if you make the right one, you will leave behind the Crusaders Pack until everything is balanced once again."

"Lailoken..." my voice trails off as he walks around the foot of the bed, his eyes meeting with mine when I call his name. Furrowing my brows, I ask him, "Where are you going?"

"I'll be speaking with Alpha Chris and Luna Lyla," he nods at the two of us and says, "I'm also leaving you two the time you need together." He doesn't say another word, nor looks back once as he leaves the room, shutting the door behind him.

It's silence that grows between us, glancing at Taron out of the corner of my eye. There are mixed emotions on his face and when he rises from the chair, sitting on the edge of the bed beside me, he lowers his gaze. He breathes out, "I'm sorry...for everything I've done. You honestly deserve better than me and you found that in Lailoken. I wish I could have been the one to save you...but, our hybrid mate saved my wolf and I. I know I'm going to have to work for your trust and I don't expect you to forget everything, I-"

"I've already forgiven you," I cut him off, watching the way his chin lifts and he has tears in his eyes. I shake my head and continue, "I'll never forget the choices you've made and how many of those...were never me," he swallows hard as I continue, "but, I can learn to love again. I don't want to be hurt..."

"I'd nev-"

"You have," there's a strain in my voice when I see his features shift. I breathe out, keeping the bridge of my nose from stinging, "Taron...I cannot claim you. I cannot mark you," the watery tone is in my voice now, "I trust Lailoken...I trust him not only with my life but the choices he makes because I'm at the forefront of his mind. I'm not scared he's going to abandon me. I'm not afraid that he'd cheat on me without a two-sided bond to keep him in check."

Taron remains silent, not interrupting me any longer.

After a few moments of gathering my thoughts and allowing everything to come forward, I tell him, "I don't know if I'll ever be enough for you..."

"Acacia, don't say that," Taron's voice breaks.

"It's how I feel, and that can't be helped..." I'm afraid that something will happen and he'll leave and not choose me...it's a cycle on repeat.

Taron inhales deeply before he finally releases the air from his lungs. His eyes meet with mine before he states, "The years we'd known each other, that trust we built...I shattered it," he pauses before reaching his hands out, taking mine into his as his thumbs brush over the back of my knuckles. I feel that warmth, it still remains and it causes the tears to finally fall down my cheeks. He says, "I will spend the rest of my life proving to you that you're the most important thing in my life and that I shouldn't have been so quick with everything and every decision I made. I have and always will love you...Acacia so please..." his voice trails off, a sadness lingering, "...please let us try this one last time."

"Don't make me regret this..." my voice is soft while Taron releases my hands and brushes the tears from my cheeks.

"I won't," his voice is even, his lips moving closer to mine. It's a warm kiss that sends a pleasurable shudder down my spine, Taron cupping my cheek with his hand as I slowly kiss him back. It's like a reminiscent memory...the way old sparks ignite as if they'd never been powered down.

When he draws his lips away from mine, his eyes flickering with a golden glint, he asks me, "Will you allow me to claim you?"

"Yes," I reply, Taron's irises shifting completely to their golden hue. As I stare back, regarding him and his wolf, I inhale sharply when he kisses me once more. A few moments later, his lips leave mine, the tip of his nose skimming down my neck as I hear him breathing in my scent. I shake slightly, especially when his lips skip past Lailoken's mark. My heart beats fast in my chest, Taron's lips coming in contact with the soft spot connecting the base of my neck to my shoulder.

I release a small breath, his lips parting while I feel his tongue lick my skin. A small sigh leaves my lips as he gently nips at the spot he's chosen, my eyelids closing when I feel his teeth shifting to that of a slightly more animalistic quality. My heart starts to beat faster, especially when he draws my flesh between his teeth...

...I become limp a second later when he bites his teeth down hard around my flesh. A fire races through me and I feel it settling in my abdomen before a light moan escapes from the back of my throat. When he doesn't release my flesh right away, I squirm, accompanied by another moan as all I want is to feel his skin against mine, a primal feeling surging from within me.

When Taron releases my flesh from his mouth, his teeth leaving my skin, I melt again at his touch the second his tongue licks his mark. I reach out and grasp his shoulders, my eyelids blinking open as he continues to do this, feeling how wet I already am...

"T-Taron..." my voice waivers when his tongue soothes the mark, my breathing uneven.

When he pulls his face back away from my neck, his eyes meet mine and he claims, "You're mine. I never wanted to claim anyone else."

When a knock comes from the door, I scrunch my nose and whisper, "I'm sure you do now."

Taron's eyes widen at my bold move, knowing very well that in time, he'll claim our mate. A giggle leaves my lips when the door opens, Lailoken coming into the doorframe halfway before asking, "Are we ready to leave?"

"Acacia and I..." Taron sounds...disappointed?

Lailoken's eyes flash with something as he states, "It'll make the heart grow fonder, however, we're leaving here for our next destination."

Taron just stares at Lailoken as if he's mental, that right after marking me, he's up and whisking us away.

Lailoken shakes his head and puts it a different way, "Do you really want to fuck under your parents' roof or would you ra-"

"Okay, okay!" Taron holds his hands up defensively, rising to his feet as he takes a few steps back. The embarrassment on his features...I receive the second hand of it as my cheeks are red.

Without another word said, I get my boots on while Taron exits the room, giving Lailoken a look before he's out of sight. Taking my coat from the chair, it's the last thing I adjust before zipping it up. Lailoken's already changed out of his clothes and is back in his athletic shorts, knowing he's serious about leaving as he'll shift to cut across terrain once again. When I leave the room with Lailoken, I see that Taron has also opted for his own shorts, his clothes packed in the backpack by the front door along with Lailoken's.

Alpha Chris looks me over, walking slowly toward him. What I expect him seeing this as I'm taking away his only son...

...a warm smile is on his face.

Alpha Chris embraces me, his voice low when he says, "I welcome you with open arms to the Crusaders Pack. Taron's meant for something greater than alpha to this pack..." he pulls away from me and I'm in shock at what he continues to say, "...I tried to alter the Moon Goddess' plans once before and it ruined more lives than I can count. I won't do that again, we'll find another way."

I don't think he realizes how much of what he said means to me. I wrap my arms tighter around his neck, hugging him as I reply, "Thank you. Thank you for understanding."

"Only the Moon Goddess knows what plans are in motion and where your destinies will bring you," it's Luna Lyla that smiles and regards me with warmth, "pack, loyalty and family will always remain here for you...all," she nods to Lailoken on the last note and his lips tweak up into a small smile.

Taron says his goodbyes to his parents and that of the pack he was supposed to lead one day. I don't know what the future holds, but I want those who mean something to me closest to my heart.

Lailoken and Taron shift, meeting outside on the pack grounds while I set the backpack straps onto my shoulders. I'm met with love in Fenrir and Marcel's eyes, steadying myself onto Fenrir's back as we take off from the Crusaders Pack territory. I already have an idea, to stop the feuding between the packs and create a peaceful tie for them all...

...but I can't help until I'm queen.

When I'm queen.
