Acacia/Ciarán - Age 16

Meliorist Sanctum

Though we all share a dorm room, I've iced out Sinéad and Fae, not wanting to talk to anyone...it's been a few months into the year, and I've had constant texts and calls, all of which have required me to do something within a specific timeframe or risk being hurt. It's just them making sure I'm under their control, nothing significant they've had me done...

Finally...I let my friends in, the first I've said anything to aside from Etain.

"I'm so sorry..." Sinéad and Fae are silent aside from their apology, though I'm beginning to understand what Etain means by those words. Sinéad is on edge as she asks me, "Who marked you?"

I remain silent, tears coming to my eyes as I finally tell someone, "Mercury."

At least...my friends will believe me. Sinéad saw them, she knows it was them...but the question remains...was Ciarán among them? He said to not tell anyone what he did, that he'll kill me...

Fae is red in the face as her wings flutter with vibrant anger as she pipes up, "Oh! What a horrible thing for him to do! Why would he do that?!" She asks this while glancing at Sinéad.

I understand why now...

...he wants to hurt me so why not force me into feeling something for him and not have to be bound to me?

I get it. I just...

Sinéad is about to speak, but I interrupt her by saying, "Thank you for saving my life."

"I should have made sure you got home okay," she's almost crying now, "I'm a horrible friend for even suggesting to go, I never thought that Mercury would do something like that!"

Ciarán's story is already spreading about how he sacrificed his wolf to save my life...oh, and I'm not going around telling others what happened to me...so they assume that I willingly gave myself to Mercury. After all, I've been referred to as his girlfriend for a long while now, others more than likely half expected it by now.

No one knows it was a group effort of destroying me...

I wonder how long it will take until that story reaches my parents and better yet, what will they believe? It doesn't matter...

I've stayed away from Rian because I don't know what he'll believe. He's better not being around me...

"I'm going to kill him," a very dark expression crosses the faerie's face like a cloud of magic surrounds her.

"If you do that, I'm dead," my voice is quiet, appreciative of how defensive my friends are, but it's not going to solve anything. Kill Ciarán's idol, and I'm as good as dead, that is...if she can even kill Mercury, to begin with.

Fae's anger subsided, and she pouts, releasing a sigh and saying, "You have a plan, right?"

"Just like with the exposure of the feeding stations," Sinéad snaps her fingers and asks, "what do ya got for us to do?"

I don't have any idea...

Until I know for sure that someone will believe me that holds power and can alter the situation I'm in, I have no idea...

Shaking my head, I replied while standing to my feet, "I have no idea."

They both look at me with confusion before Sinéad stutters, "Bu-But you h-have to!"

"No, I don't have to..." I look away from them.

Sinéad shakes her head with her mouth open disapprovingly and asks angrily, "So that's it?! You're just going to give up?!"

"I'm not-"

She cuts me off, "Yes, yes you are! You need to tell-"

The anger fumes from within me and I feel the coldness spike in my heart when I snap, "NO ONE WILL BELIEVE ME!" My breathing is uneven as I glance at the two of them, both of them taken aback as I continue, "They'll want proof, and my blood memories won't show...I can almost guarantee that..."

"So wh-"

I'm quick to silence Fae by stating, "So I bide my time and figure out a way to prove myself not a liar..." my voice trails off because I'm about to say something in regards to Ciarán. There's a lot I have to be careful with, because if I make the wrong move...

...I'll pay with my life.

"This is just...so frustrating!" Sinéad's anger rolls off in waves, but I know better and letting emotions get the best of you will only draw you further into chaos.

The cellphone that Ciarán had given me chimes, my heart dropping into the pit of my stomach. It draws attention from my friends, and I have to breathe out calmly before seeing it's a text message from Mercury. Sliding it open, it reads:

Meet me at the coffee shop.

I hesitate to answer, and he knows I've read it...

Now.

I reply back, letting him know I'm leaving the dorm so at least he knows how long it takes to travel and won't get angry at me for no reason. Scratch that, he'll get angry regardless.

"I have to go..." I tell them.

Sinéad shakes her head and asks, "Where are you off to?"

I need a cover because they are starting to suspect something.

"To see Rian," it flies from my mouth before I can think.

Fae furrows her brows and asks, "What does he think now that you're marked by his cousin?"

"I..." I can't answer that.

"Whatever," Sinéad waves her hand and says, "have fun, you need some time with a nice vampire."

If only.

Nodding, I take my leave and head down the stairs, making my way through the common room and out the door. I'm down the steps and through the courtyard before I almost yell from Etain stepping in my pathway.

"It's late," her eyes hold mine.

It is...almost past nine and the sweater I wear I zip up slowly. I nod and reply, "I'm meeting someone for coffee."

Her imposing figure continues to break through my barrier as Etain folds her arms beneath her chest while arching a brow. She asks, "Who?"

"I...uhh..." shaking my head I tell her, "someone from chess club."

She continues to stare at me and narrows her eyes, "If you're not back in your dorm before ten, I will hunt you down and bring you back to your dorm room," she pauses as I part my lips to say something, but I decide against it, and she nods, "got it?"

"Yes," I reply quietly, and she lets me pass, my movements a little quicker than before. She doesn't follow me, but I can tell the way her eyes follow me until I'm out of sight. She doesn't want to invade my space; she understands that I'm hurt...but I know she's suspicious of my activity after hours.

I need a better excuse...

...or Mercury to come to some understanding.

Wait, I'm mistaken for someone who cares.

Shrugging off the thought, I head down toward the shops, coming to the coffee shop. My heart skips a beat when I see Niamh and Mercury sitting in one of the booths, Cypher sitting across from them.

I breathe in calmly, composing myself before I enter the shop. The cashier waves at me with a smile, he's the same one that's worked here since Bryant brought me for hot chocolate. I wave back and head down to the back corner where the booth is, approaching carefully before I finally halt at the end of the table.

Niamh's gaze flickers to me before Mercury's eyes land on me, he and Cypher stopping mid-sentence. Mercury finally orders me, "Sit."

I know he can't call me a slave in public, not here and after what happened with Ciarán. He'll be cautious, and that's what I have to be watching out for myself.

He nods at the spot next to Cypher, and I swallow the knot forming at the edge of my throat before I quietly sit, keeping as close as possible to the edge. The moment Cypher's hand grasps my thigh, I jump and knock my knees against the table, fighting down the cry...though Niamh giggles at my reaction before she sighs with amusement.

"Hands on the table," Mercury warns me, his gaze dangerous.

I do as he says, trying to remain calm...but Cypher's touch alone brings back the memories of that night. It takes everything within me not to leap from the table and walk right out, but I know a more significant consequence awaits me should I choose this option.

Mercury puts his arm around Niamh, drawing her closer into his side. She snuggles up cozy to him, her fingers tracing outlines on his chest while Mercury begins to tell me, "You're going to be returning for the winter solstice council meeting very soon," he pauses, and I feel Cypher's grip tighten slightly, an exhale leaving my lips. Mercury continues with, "Ciarán will be allowed to return with you during the winter vacation. You will defend him against the allegations that will arise in regards to..."

He doesn't know how quite to put it, so I whisper, "His wolf..."

A nasty grin crosses his features as he chuckles, "Yes...the lack thereof."

"If I side against the warlocks and witches..." my voice is watery at this, knowing how much dad hates them...though this will undoubtedly cause tension between them and the rest of the council.

Mercury shrugs his shoulders and says, "Enemies come in all forms. Just make sure to choose the right ones you want to go against," he nods, and I watch as Niamh draws his attention, Mercury is all too willing to give it to her. His hand cups her cheek before his lips claim hers, a heated kiss erupting between them...

...though what bothers me the most, is the way something stirs within me. My heart lurches forward, wanting to be the one he touches...yet my mind fights against the pull he's corrupted me with due to the one-sided bond.

When their kissing turns more into making out, I'm about to glance away when Cypher says, "Look away, and you'll be kissing me."

My heart stops in my chest, his grip tightening and I'm forced to watch the way Mercury cradles her against him, their passion causing a pain to set in the center of my chest suddenly. It's different from the way I grow cold and numb; this one creates an ache to build within my heart.

I whisper out, "If I'm not back before ten, Etain will find me..."

"Is that supposed to be a threat?" Cypher keeps his voice low when he hisses at me. I see the way Mercury glances at me out of the corner of his eye, Niamh and him separating slightly.

I shake my head and reply, "No...a warning."

"Ciarán's cousin is starting to become a thorn in my side," Mercury releases a sigh, and a thought strikes him, "well, I'm sure she'll step off once she realizes you truly are out here and enjoying yourself. We'll have to put her suspicions to rest, now won't we?" He arches a brow at me, and I'm not sure what he's getting at.

Etain isn't clueless or dense...

...it might just help her figure things out more. That can be good and bad because I have to keep her off the trail of Ciarán for now.

Mercury nods and says, "It's been great catching up...now why don't we go for a little walk, you might even get lucky, and I'll make sure you get back to your dorm safely."

Niamh snickers, "That's more than my sister did for her."

Why...

...did...did Niamh know what they were planning?

Was their banter nothing but a facade to lure Sinéad into a false sense of security and in turn...myself?

Cypher releases his grip on my thigh, and I quickly scramble out of the booth. After Mercury and Niamh also rise from their seats, Niamh and Cypher take their lead ahead of us.

My heart begins to race when I'm left with Mercury, through when he offers me his hand and I know I have to take it, he laces his fingers with mine...the spark from our touch just draws me closer to him, not realizing that I'm walking closer and closer as we leave the coffee shop. The pad of his thumb brushes over the back of my hand, and I fight the way it consumes me with want and need I wish I could tune out.

Mercury pulls off to the side, an alley I've been done before when he'd wanted me separated from Bryant...yet Bryant had come for me. I doubt anyone will this time, unsure of the time and if I use the cellphone to check, Mercury might get angry. He knows what he's doing...he's left one decision up to chance and I know he's never going to do that again...his movements are deliberate and cautious.

The air leaves my lungs though, the second we are behind the building. My back is against the wall, his fingers grasping my chin as he tilts my head back, his eyes staring into mine. A second later, his lips claim mine, and I'm sickened with the way my body bends to his will and that of the inescapable pull...

...my lips part for his the second his fangs nip at the lower one, giving him what he wants as his tongue hungrily explores my mouth. I'm kissing him back with just as much desire, my body heating with need as I feel something pooling and aching in my lower abdomen.

His hands roam my body, tears form in my eyes, and when his lips separate from mine for a moment, his hands touch my outer thighs, and I gasp, "Pl-Please st-stop-"

"You don't get to tell me to stop, Slave," his voice is dangerous and husky, his lips trailing down my neck until they touch his scarred puncture marks. When his tongue flicks over it, sucking the flesh into his mouth, I moan loudly. When he releases it, he chuckles and states, "Besides, it doesn't sound like you really want me to stop anyways..." his voice trails off as I feel one of his hands rub against me through my jeans, my eyes widening as I try to pull away from him, but the wall prevents me.

I shake my head, but another moan is silenced when he kisses me hard once again, his free hand cupping my cheek while the other continues to rub me. His voice is lowered when he breaks away and says, "I can make you feel good...when you are good my little tool," though, he finally stops rubbing me and a whimper leaves my lips, my mind fighting with my emotions as I can't discern how I feel, " I can also hurt you in more ways than one, so let's get something straight...the only reason you're alive is because you're of use to me. The moment you lose your value..." his voice trails off.

My heart is beating fast, and I see the way his gaze flickers from mine. A few more moments later, he releases his body from mine, taking my hand once again while we head back to the pathway. It's a few more moments later that Etain starts walking toward the two of us from across the courtyard.

Etain halts and asks, "You're in the chess club? I don't think so..." her voice is dangerous.

💫--To Be Continued--💫
-Updates on Mondays & Thursdays-

Note:

Hello Rosebuds,

As you may have noticed if you rushed over to Inkitt right away, you'll no longer find Transgression on my works.

I have removed the book for many reasons, but above all, it is because of Inkitt themselves. They made big promises and didn't follow through so I am removing my book to take my stance against their treatment of the lead generation of their "Reader Royalty Program". I won't slander a company's name, but know that they've made it not worth my time for the peanuts they want to throw around.
I might be removing my other works as well. Time will tell.

On that note, I'd promised if I reached 3k followers that I'd do a permanent three updates a week. I don't want anymore followers on that site, especially after how they're treating their writers.

Here is what I want to know and please let me know:

1.) Updates on Mondays and Thursdays w/random updates

2.) Updates on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays w/no random updates
