"Hey." I smiled as I knocked and opened Nathan's office door. "I hope I'm not interrupting anything." I said hesitantly trying to hide my confusion at the young and attractive woman sitting in front of his desk.

"No, no. Of course not. We were just finishing up." Nathan said standing at his desk looking down at the woman intensely making frown.

"Y-Yes, we were." The woman smiled as she grabbed her things and stood to leave. I began to feel badly not intending to cut his meeting off short. "I'm sorry. I just thought you might've been hungry." I smiled weakly as he walked around his desk towards me.

Handing Nathan his favorite lunch from the Italian restaurant around the corner that I used to always bring him. "Thank you." Nathan smiled down at me taking the to-go bag as he leaned down to kiss me. "How are you feeling? Why isn't Valerie and Rose with you?" He asked.

"I snuck out." I joked making him fight his smile waiting for an explanation. "I don't want you driving alone." Nathan replied with stern eyes looking down at me. "I called your driver." I said making him ease reaching out for my waist stepping closer.

Nathan raked me up at down wearing one of my favorite comfortable baggy jumpsuits. "You look beautiful." Nathan continued placing his hand on my stomach. "I don't feel it." I replied honestly making him smile sympathetically.

"I'm just tired of waddling. I want to hold the baby." I repeated frustrated making him chuckle looking away. "Yeah, well. Soon enough." He replied turning away to place his food on his desk. "I know. Soon enough." I exclaimed eagerly again clasping my hands with a bright-eyed look. Nathan smiled down at me before the same woman walked back into his office.

"I'm just drowning in work, Gen." Nathan said hesitantly making me look away. "Oh, right. Yeah- Yeah, of course." I replied trying to hide my disappointment. "I'll see you at home." I said as he leaned in for a kiss.

I ignored the hurt I felt and the slight jealousy from the attractiveness of the woman in his office. I turned around as I left to watch them talk among themselves. Being pregnant made me feel different and insecure with my body's appearance and how much I've grown.

"Carmen? G-Genevieve?" I heard Eve snapping me out of my anxious thoughts making me turn away from Nathan and the woman's smiles. "Eve! Hi." I smiled as she hugged me trying not to squish my stomach to much only making me even more self-conscious.

"How are you? You look radiant!" Eve beamed at my stomach making me scoff through a smile. "Everyone said you were pregnant, but I didn't know just how far along." She said making me smile weakly. "Yeah, I-I know I'm pretty huge." I laughed weakly as I tried sitting down at the nearest chair making her do the same.

"You look amazing." She said making me smile weakly before there was a short uncomfortable silence. "I'm so sorry I lied to you and left without saying goodbye. I just didn't know how to explain it all to you and I was worried-" I began to apologize quickly making her interrupt. "Don't worry about it. Nathan explained some of it to me after I continued to pester him." She smiled.

"I can't believe you're a real bounty hunter!" Gen whisper yelled making me look around at the busy office. "I-I mean I know he's annoying and arrogant, but I've never seen him do anything sketchy." Eve said in a failed hushed tone making me chuckle.

"He doesn't even speed." I teased making her laugh. "We should get lunch soon! I need to know everything about the real you." Eve smiled as we stood to leave not wanting to take up too much of her time at work.

"I would love that." I smiled. "I've finally found someone too. We should do a double date." She beamed as I felt another small contraction making me struggle to hide my pain. "Oh, my god." I breathed slightly leaning against my old desk. "Yes, it's very exciting." She smiled as I chuckled weakly trying to shake the pain away. Only feeling the wave of pain grow.

"Wha- Ahh." I continued hunched over slightly making her frown in realization. "This isn't about my love life, is it? Oh my... a-are you in labor?" She asked full of shock. Looking around in embarrassment seeing the people I used to work with stare at me confused.

"I-I should get him." Eve said stepping towards Nathan's office door making me grab her wrist to stop. "No, no. Hold on, he-he's working." I said but it was too late as I saw Nathan's eyes look up at us. I watched him stand up rushing outside his office as the unfamiliar woman followed making me internally grown.

"Gen, is it time?" He asked quickly seeing the pain and discomfort I was in. Nathan rushed towards me making me shake my head in slight disappointment. But grateful not wanting to have the entire firm watch my water break. "I'm-I'm fine now." I sighed heavily as he reached out for me to hold onto him. I held his arms relaxing slightly before seeing his worried features.

"You should get back to work." I smiled weakly pulling away making them all study me unsure. "It's just because I've been on my feet a lot lately. I should just go home." I said to him trying not to sound to upset about Nathan and the other woman.

"So, you're not in labor?" Nathan asked looking down at my stomach. "No, honey, not currently." I smiled loving how nervous and excited he was.

"I don't know what to do. I mean the hot sauce doesn't work; the sex doesn't work. Maybe we should just go on a long bumpy roller coaster." I joked making him finally crack a smile as he eased in front of me making Eve laugh.

"How's that any different from sex?" Eve replied making me smile as Nathan looked at her disapprovingly. "I should get back to work." Eve smiled over at me making me look up at him.

"Are you sure you're alright?" Nathan continued holding my hands for support keeping me upright. "Yes. I promise." I rolled my eyes. Hesitantly looking at the woman behind him assuming she was another client of his to defend.

I was about to continue before he leaned down planting another slow and passionate kiss. Kissing him back with just as much love and passion before realizing people were around us not wanting them to stare. "You're at work." I breathed against him pulling away as he continued. "I don't care. I love you." Nathan assured noticing how weary I was of the woman.

I smiled up at him lovingly before I reluctantly pulled away from him looking around the now quiet office. Clearing my throat looking away from all of the staring eyes as Nathan noticed them also. He stood tall glaring at them before they all quickly returned to their work.

"I'll see you at home." I said stepping away making him look down at me again. There was weary and hesitant look in his eye making me frown up at him. I couldn't help but get the feeling of him hiding something from me.

Once I made my way back home, I opened the door to the smell of something delicious making me hungry again. Walking slowly into the kitchen to see Rose and Valerie eating grilled cheese and tomato soup. "Hi, mommy!" Rose exclaimed making me chuckle loving how happy she always seemed to be.

"I made you extra." Valerie smiled. "Thanks." I said grabbing a plate to eat. "How was Nate?" She asked curiously making me shrug as I added hot sauce to the soup and sandwich.

"Busy." Not wanting to talk about the strange woman he was talking to with Rose in the room. "He is going to drop me off at school tomorrow?" Rose asked worried making me smile. "Of course, honey." I answered softly knowing how much she enjoyed their usual car rides together.

Nathan's POV

I loved watching Gen talk about the future excited to see our baby in any day now. Her eyes were wide as she looked up at me full of awe and amazement talking about wanting to hold our baby after all this time. I knew Genevieve was going crazy with her being pregnant for longer than we thought.

But I had actually loved watching her stomach grow knowing our baby was growing with her. The baby. Our baby. God, I couldn't believe she was pregnant, and that I was going to be a father. And eventually a husband.

The thoughts didn't scare me as much as I thought they would have. I knew and everyone around me knew that I never wanted to be any serious relationship with anyone. The only reason I was dating Hannah and any other desperate woman was for my mother's happiness. And it helped that women would do anything to sleep with me anyways.

I never understood loving someone like how everyone described in movies. How Valerie explained it to me all those years ago. Or how Lee explained how it felt with his wife, Emily, and children. I was never focused on that part of my life only seeing women as an object when I wanted a fun time. But with Genevieve that all completely changed.

I was actually going to miss how beautiful Genevieve looked growing a life inside her. Even if she didn't believe me no matter how many times, I said it. Loving how soft her skin is and her long shining hair. She was absolutely radiant. Her stomach was just more of me to hold and love. I loved her even more knowing we were going to be a family. I couldn't wait to see what the future had in store for us.

Snapping out of my thoughts looking down at Genevieve as Nancy walked back into my office making me fill with guilt. "I'm just drowning in work, Gen." I said reluctantly not wanting her to leave. But I knew Nancy wouldn't have come back in if she didn't have something important to tell me. "Oh, right. Yeah- Yeah, of course." Genevieve smiled weakly making my heart break as she turned her head away from me.

"This better be good." I growled to Nancy annoyed after Gen left. Walking around back behind my desk making her walk closer. "I think I've found the perfect place. It has everything you said you wanted: A large yard with windows and five bedrooms three bath and it even has a small flower garden in the backyard with a patio." Nancy began to explain eagerly.

Letting out a breathless chuckle finally feeling optimistic after all this time and finally able to tell Gen about what I've been doing. I hated lying to her and being away from her during the most important time during her pregnancy.

After a few hours of talking with Nancy, my family's realtor I looked at my watch in shock realizing I should have been home by now. I quickly scurried to clean up my desk and turned off my computer. "I have to go. Call me tomorrow. I'll need to talk this over with her." I said grabbing my things as she followed me out my office making her nod.

The whole way I drove home I scolded myself for not paying more attention to the time finding out how upset she has been lately with me spending time away. But I was finally hopeful to tell Genevieve that I've been house hunting and now I've finally found the perfect place for us.

I just didn't want to stress her out with the finding a new house. I wanted her to keep all her energy and focus on her and the baby and carry the stress and burden of the house hunting to myself. I wanted to surprise her with the perfect house once it was all official but was taking me longer than I anticipated. I wanted more than anything to spend all my time with her with her final days being pregnant and wanting to be there the chance the baby comes while I was gone.

Being away from her was driving me crazy and only giving me more anxiety and worry for the future. Not wanting to imagine the thought of her water breaking and I wasn't there with her.

"I'm home." I said into the apartment looking down at my watch again seeing it was five thirty. Rose ran towards me from the living room making me smile dropping my briefcase. "Nathan!" I picked her up into my arms making her giggle into my ear as I held her on my hip. Valerie walked towards us with a hesitant smile.

"She's not happy." She said softly making me frown looking for Genevieve. I saw the back of her head as she sat down on the couch watching tv.

"I lost track of time." I said to Valerie as I placed Rose back on her feet. Rose ran back over to Gen on the couch. "When you say you're gonna be home soon you better make sure you're here. She's emotional and insecure and finding out you're having meetings with pretty women doesn't help." She said softly so Rose and Gen couldn't overhear. "It's only Nancy." I said making her scoff.

"I've met Nancy and she's beautiful. Go make it right." She stood tall pointing over to Gen not yet noticing us. I didn't appreciate her bossiness between us, but I knew she was right. I sighed walking further into the house as Genevieve finally looked at me acknowledging I was home.

I looked down at the two most important people in my life holding each other. Gen directed her attention back into the tv as Rose smiled with her hand on Gen's pregnant belly. Oblivious to the tension between us.

"Hey, Rose why don't we fix him some lunch." Valerie smiled enthusiastically. Rose jumped up off of Genevieve as she ate a bag of barbecue chips as it rested on her stomach. A blanket laid on her outstretched legs making me pick them up to sit down across from her. I put her legs over my lap showing her swollen ankles that she had been complaining of. "You said you would be home." She broke the silence looking at me blankly.

"I lost track of time." I replied never tearing my eyes away to study her. "Oh." She calmly turned her attention back to the television and chips. I frowned at her nonchalant mood expecting her to be angrier. "You're not upset?" I asked.

"Of course, I'm upset." Gen scoffed looking at me in disbelief. "I-I mean I know how much you love your job, and I don't want to take that away from you. But I would just like more time with you. Especially now." She began softly making my heart break seeing how upset she was.

"Do you know how scared I am?" She breathed with tears in her eyes making my heart break. "I know I've already gone through this with Rose. And I-I know I always seem strong and capable most of the time, but I hate not knowing every morning if this will be the day. And to not have you here to freak out with me and not knowing if you will be here to calm me down only makes me worry about it more." She confessed as I hung onto her every word as she voiced her concerns.

"I've already gone through this alone before and now that I have you, I thought it would be different." Gen confessed with tears collecting in her eyes making her struggle to blink them away. "And then to find out all the meetings that's been taking up your time is with that beautiful woman?" She finished angrily not looking at me.

Genevieve pulled her legs away from me struggling to get up making me do the same trying to help her. "I mean look at me." Genevieve scoffed looking down at her as she shook crumbs away from her chest and cleavage.

"I know I can't fit in the same size pants as when you met me, but I didn't think you would find someone else so soon." Gen joked bitterly. I stepped closer grabbing her chin lightly to look at me.

"I don't care about what she looks like. Or how any woman looks like. Except for you. My fiancée and the mother of my child. Children." I corrected including Rose. Bringing my hand up to her face as a tear escaped her eye.

"I'm in love with you. You're the only woman on my mind and the only one who makes me feel the way you do. No one else compares to all the things I love about you." I continued looking down into her warm chocolate brown eyes I loved so much. Frowning when I saw another tear escape making me continue to wipe them away softly. I hated myself for the fact I was doing this to her. Creating doubt in her mind and making her cry.

"And right now, you've never looked prettier." I smiled showing slight amusement making her scoff again. "Really?" She pulled away looking down at her fanning her arms. She was wearing her usual pajamas with a robe, an oversized tee shirt and shorts. "My robe can't even tie around me anymore." Gen expressed annoyed making me smile.

"You're carrying a child." I stated stern pulling her closer making her frown filling with self-realization. She looked away in slight embarrassment making me frown. "I guess I'm just worried for how I look to you. Last time I was like this I was alone not having to worry about anyone who loved me, caring about my appearance. I didn't want you to think I wasn't attractive anymore or you finally saw the type of person I was without the adrenaline of having to fight anyone and save our lives." She confessed sadly making me step closer to her again.

"I'm going to tell you this for the last time." I said sternly with soft features knowing how upset she was. I placed my palms around her stomach slowly reaching around her waist pulling her closer. "You're beautiful." I stated although I knew this wouldn't be the last time, I would tell her. She smiled as she softly rolled her eyes hearing it time and time before.

"You're so fucking sexy." I continued in a low tone making her look up at me again with a smile. "And you being pregnant doesn't change that. Every time I see you my heart stops in complete awe. Ever since the moment, I met you. You're funny and kind and I can't believe how lucky I am to have found someone like you. I can never have a discussion with anyone without having it interrupted by the thought of you. The last time you laughed, or I made you smile. Remembering your beautiful warm, comforting smile, voice, your brown eyes." I listed softly looking down at her lovingly as she never looked away from me.

"Or heard you moan." I finished leaning into her in a softer and huskier voice than before. She looked away to laugh as a light dusting of blush covered her cheeks. "Not being able to wait until I hear your voice or see your face again when we are apart. There has always been some sort of pull towards you from the moment we met. And I will never feel this way with anyone else but you. Nor do I want to." I explained looking down at her as she hung onto every word I said.

Genevieve looked up at me with soft expression with bright, glossy tear-filled eyes as she placed her delicate hand against my chest. I reached towards her chin trailing my thumb brushing across her tear-stained cheeks. I put my palm against the side of her stomach looking down at it in awe.

"You're my world. You have my heart. You've given me a family and made me realize how wonderful it is to have someone who knows you better than anyone else and to spend the rest of my life with them. You've saved my life in more ways than one. I will always be grateful for that. And I'm sorry I made you forget that." I continued to confess softly to her as she cried leaning in closer to me erasing any distance. As much as we could with her stomach between us.

"Are we okay?" I asked after kissing her soft lips wiping her tears away. "Yes." Genevieve breathed through a soft smile.

"Just promise you'll be here with me more. I-I know how much you love your job, and I don't want to deprive you of that I just-" She began nervously making me cut her off. "I do. But I love you more. I'm excited for the life we're making. I don't want my work to consume me and take me away from my family. I don't want to repeat my father's mistakes." I said making her smile softly as I debated on telling her the real reason why I've been away.

"I've been trying to find us a house." I confessed as I pulled away to take out the folded up piece of paper from my back pocket. "And I've found the perfect one. A-At least I hope so." I said as her lips parted. Gen looked down at the folded paper I handed her
