"So what are you doing tonight?"

"I'm actually getting ready to go trick or treating." I told my brother through the phone and I tried to squeeze myself into my costume.

"You are going trick or treating? Aren't you too old to go?"

"Thanks for calling me old." I deadpanned. "But no I'm taking a...friends sister out."

I had yet to tell Trent that Alex and I were dating. It's not that I didn't want him to know because I did, but i wanted Trent's approval. I wanted him to be happy for me, for him to like Alex. In a way I wanted his approval more than my own parents.

Trent practically raised me and has always been the one I looked up to the most. So I needed him to approve of Alex and I. I wish I could tell him in person but he wasn't coming home anytime soon and I didn't want to hide our relationship for that long.

"This friends sister...is he the boy that I heard on the phone the other day?" Trent questioned. As much as I wanted to say no I let out a sigh and paused in zipping up my costume.

"I have something to tell you." I grab my bottom lip between my teeth as I took my phone of speaker and held it to my ear.

"Please god don't tell me you are pregnant! Riley you better not me or I will fly all the way there and beat your ass and the stupid ass boy who got you pregnant. You know what," There was shuffling on the other side of the phone. "I'm coming home this instant. I can't believe this."

"Trent." He kept on mumbling through the phone. "Trent."

"Bro what are you doing?" I heard the familiar voice of Nicholas in the background.

"My dumb ass sister is pregnant and now she tells me on the phone." I rolled my eyes.

"I never said I was pregnant." I said although he clearly didn't hear a word I said as he kept talking.

"Your sister is pregnant?" Nicholas said near the phone.

"Trent!"

"It's that punk kid who I heard on the phone isn't it! Should have put you in an all girls school." Trent muttered. I heard more shuffling around before Nicholas talked through the phone.

"Sweet cheeks I think your brother has lost his mind."

"I think so too. He jumped to conclusions."

"So not pregnant?"

"God no!" I could feel my face heat up. I've never even had sex for crying out loud. "No."

"Why did he jump to conclusions anyways?" The background noise got a bit quieter as I assumed he was walking a bit aways.

"All I said was I had something to tell him." I leaned against the bathroom counter.

"I thought I said I wasn't ready for him to know about us yet." Nicholas whined making me grin. I hadn't even met the guy but I already liked him.

"I thought you love me enough to tell my brother?" I changed my voice to make it sound like I was crying. Nicholas chuckled through the phone.

"I already love you sweet cheeks." I rolled my eyes at the term of endearment.

"You're a dork. Can you please put my brother back on so I can explain that I am not pregnant." If I didn't hurry up in here Olivia was gonna start pounding on the door.

"Fine we can tell your brother about us another time." He joked. "Trent here. Listen to her will you." I heard what sounded like a slap followed by an 'ow'.

"You're a dick." My brother said to Nicholas. "Don't be an idiot to your sister." I heard him respond back.

"Are you going to listen to me now?"

"No-ow...yes."

"First off, I'm not pregnant." I heard a loud sigh from his end. "Second...okay I'll just say it. I have a boyfriend." I said it quickly.

The line went silent and the grip on my phone got tighter as I waited for my brother to respond. The dead silence was getting to me.

"Trent? Say something please." My voice came out soft and quiet. When he still had yet to say something I wondered if the call drop.

"Thank god." Trent cheered into the phone so loud that I had to pull the phone away.

"Excuse me?"

"Having a boyfriend is perfectly fine. As long as you don't get pregnant."

"Why are you so concerned about me getting pregnant?"

"You're too young. You need to live and see the world first. So this boyfriend and you better be safe." Thank god he couldn't see me and my flushed face.

"So your okay with me having a boyfriend?"

"Do I like that some kid is making moves on my baby sister, hell no. But I want you to be happy Riley. And I trust you." Hearing those words from my brother, from the guy I've always looked up to, made tears well in my eyes.

"But don't think I'm not going to grill this boy. My baby sister only deserves the best and this kid better be it." I grinned at the protective note in his tone.

"His name is Alex and he's...he's pretty great." The thought of Alex made my heart flutter.

"Is he treating you right?"

"He is. Even more than he should."

"You deserve it Ri. I'm glad you told me, even though I'm not there to give the kid the third degree." Even though Trent couldn't see me I smiled and nodded.

"I'm glad you didn't freak out that bad."

"That's because I'm the greatest brother ever."

"Yeah right." I once more heard Nicholas say in the background which made me snort.

"Go away dick head." As the two started bickering again a loud knock sounded on the door.

"Riley did you get stuck in the toilet or something? Come out!" Olivia called out.

"I need to pee!" Lexi yelled as well. Laughing under my breath I spoke into the phone cutting Nicholas and Trent's argument.

"Sorry I need to go."

"Okay have fun tonight and be safe. Don't do anything stupid." Trent instructed.

"Go dressed like a slutty nurse." Nicholas yelled.

"No you will not!"

"Doesn't matter, I'm hanging up now. Please be careful Trent...you too Nicholas."

"We will. I'll talk to you soon Ri." With a soft smile I said bye and finally hung up. Another knock sounded on the door but I quickly opened it. Liv stood there already dressed in her costume.

She looked behind me with raised eyebrows.

"Who were you talking to?"

"My brother."

"Oh for I second I thought you had lost your mind."

"Are you two done? I have to pee!" Lexi pushed past Olivia and me into the bathroom. Laughing I quickly stepped out before she slammed the door on me.

"Love that on you." Liv said once we walked further into her room. I ran my hand down the fake leather pants.

"Yours looks great too!"

All of our Halloween costumes changed. Apparently Liv first had everyone dressing up from Game of Thrones but two days ago when we were all over at Noah's with Harper she pleaded for us all to go as characters from Descendants on the Disney channel.

One puppy dog look later we all were changing our costumes and getting new ones. That is how much power Harper had over every single one of us. So now we were all getting dressed in our Descendants costume's with our 'assigned' characters. Only Liv would be the one assigning us to people.

Olivia was Audrey-the good girl turned evil.

Lexi was Evie-can be evil but really a sweetheart.

Derek was Carlos because...well it fit him the best.

Nico was Jay-slightly badass.

Noah was Ben-total sweetheart.

Alex was Harry-Captain Hook's son.
Harper was none other that Uma-Ursula's daughter and 'best friends' with Harry.
And finally...I was Mal.

I didn't want to admit it out loud but I was actually excited for tonight and all of our matching outfits. Descendants was a great movie even if I was too old for it. And I wanted to see Harper's face when we all showed up in the costumes she wanted.

"Come sit so I can finish your makeup." I did as Liv asked and took a seat at her vanity.

I watched her move around her room gathering stuff as I mentally argued with myself on asking her something. All week at school I've noticed things between Olivia and Derek.

Whenever we walked down the hallway together they stood extra close to one another, more so than before. At lunch Derek kept looking at her only to quickly look away when she did the same thing in return. Something more was going on between them and I was dying to know what.

Was Derek finally going to make his move? Was Olivia?

"So," I started as Liv came back to start on my makeup.

"Yeah?" Taking a deep breath I quickly asked my question.

"What's going on with you and Derek." I blurted. Liv's hand stalled for a second before she continued.

"What do you mean? Nothing's going on." Although she wouldn't look directly at me I gave her a look.

"Don't even try that. There is something going on." The more she ignored my eyes the more I knew I was right. "You can tell me." I softened my voice.

"It's just...ugh." She groaned. "He came over the other day to hang out, like usual, but it felt different. He kept staring at me when he helped me film a video and when we sat down to watch tv he sat closer." She rambled. "I don't know."

"Was it a good different?" She looked at me in confusion. "Like when he did that did you feel giddy? Like you wanted him to keep staring and sitting closer?"

"I don't know...yes? He leaned in like he was going to kiss me but then my dad came home and he left soon after. Now things feel weird." I inwardly wanted to squeal at that little bit. Derek almost kissed her!

"Why is he acting so weird!"

"Because he's in love with you bitch." Lexi said as she walked back in the room. By now I was use to Lexi and her bluntness. In this case it was actually needed. Olivia needed to get through her head that Derek liked her more than a friend.

Liv made a noise as she started on my eyeshadow.

"Just kiss him already." Lexi said as she went over to the mirror to put on her black wig.

"I'm not going to ruin our friendship." Liv shook her head.

"It's not ruining if he feels the same way."

"He doesn't."

"But what if he does." I said it so softly as I looked up at her. She must have noticed something in my tone for she paused. "Just think about it." Liv didn't say anything but she nodded.

"Not gonna lie...this Evie chick had style. Look at my ass." I looked over to find Lexi posing in the floor length mirror, sticking her butt out. I couldn't help but start laughing, Olivia following in suit.

* * * * * * * * * *

"Guys guess what I got?" Derek yelled as he ran back from a house. "I got a full size Reese's Peanut Butter Cup!"

"I got one too!" Harper yelled as she flew down the steps in front of Derek. We were all taking turns going up to the doors with Harper and somehow the guys had it all figured out where they can also get candy.

According to Noah his neighborhood was the best place to go trick or treating since it leaned towards the more 'rich' side which meant better candy. The streets were filled with kids dressed up and their parents slowly behind them as they ran from door to door.

It was so cute watching Harper get so excited at the candy she would get. What was funnier was Derek getting just as excited about it. He was the one mostly going up to the doors with Harper, not because none of wanted to, no. It was because he wanted candy. He was a giant kid in the group of little ones.

"Oh lucky those are the best." I beamed down at Harper as she grinned up at me. The pillow case she was holding already getting full even though we've only been out here a little bit.

"You have it." She extended it towards me. Even though Reese's Peanut Butter Cups were my absolute favorite there was no way I was taking candy from her.

"Thats okay you keep it." I leaned down to whisper. "Just don't give it to your brother." I knew they were his favorite too. She nodded her head and put it in her pillowcase. Grabbing my hand in her little one she started for the next house.

The rest of the group trailed behind us, laughing and making fun of Derek. I felt so content right now. Everything was finally starting to get better. I had Alex who was literally the best boyfriend I could ever ask for. I had a group of friends that were amazing and welcomed me with open arms.

Being here right now with everyone I could easily forget about what life was like before I met them. Before I met Alex. Now I couldn't imagine my life going back to that.

At the next house Harper had me go up with her, her grip on my hand never leaving. In a weird way knowing that Alex's little sister liked me meant a lot. She was his only family left and having her like me was a seal of approval, just like with my brother.

Since I didn't have a pillowcase Harper gladly let me put the candy in hers, which just gave her more candy. Poor Noah's parents tonight when they watch her. She was going to be bouncing off the walls.

Coming back to the group Noah reached out and grabbed Harper lifting her up in the air, causing her to giggle. He swung her up onto his shoulders as they headed down another street. I grinned at the sight.

"She's going to be so hyper tonight." Alex said sliding up beside me.

"I was just thinking the same thing. Poor Noah's parents."

"She'll go crazy and then crash." Alex chuckled. His hand grabbed mine and laced our fingers together. "But this is the one day she can go sugar crazy." I watched him watch his sister, the most loving expression on his face.

"She is so lucky to have you." I wrapped my other hand around his arm and hugged it against my chest as we walked.

"I really don't know what I'd do without her."

We both watched the little girl giggling and tug at Noah's hair as she sat on his shoulders. He would run a little bit then stop making her hold onto him tighter. The others stood around, almost like her bodyguards. The poor girl when she gets older is going to have the hardest time getting a boyfriend with all four boys protecting her.

It was one thing I loved about all four boys. None of them were embarrassed having to dress up for Halloween and take Harper out trick or treating. Derek, Nico, and Noah easily could have said no and gone to some party. Even Alex could have had someone take her instead. But no, here they all were dressed up as disney characters making that little girl smile and laugh.

They reminded me of my brother. Never put out to hang out with me and do things that could have made his friends embarrass him with.

"Thank you for coming with us tonight." Alex placed a kiss on the top of my head. I grinned against his arm.

"Always." And I meant it. I would always be here as long as Alex wanted me to be.

We spent the next thirty minutes taking Harper to the last of the houses in the neighborhood. It was nearing 7 o'clock and pretty much dark by this point. Kids were still going strong around us, running around and yelling. We timed it pretty good going when we did.

Harper's pillowcase was so full Nico was now holding it for her as she got a piggyback from Noah. She was already a bit bounce from eating some of her candy.

We still had to get back to Noah's house and drop her off before we could go to our own party.

It didn't take long to get back to Noah's house, having to squeeze through a group of kids to get in the door. Noah's mom, Ava, smiled at all of us while handing out candy.

As soon as Derek put Harper down so ran right into the kitchen calling Noah's dad, Mason's name. By time we got there she was kneeling on a stool digging through her candy. I didn't miss the wide eyes that Noah's dad had at the sight of all the candy. Poor guy was gonna have a long night.

"Did you guys rob a candy store?" He questioned us.

"Best neighborhood ever." Derek gushed as he put his own pillowcase on the counter.

"You seriously got candy as well?" Noah's dad looked at the pillowcase in shock. He clearly underestimated Derek's charm to get candy even though he was too old. Oh and his inner child.

"The older ladies love me." Derek smirk. I snorted which earned me a jab to the ribs from Derek. "They do. That's why I got a lot."

"They didn't want to hear anymore of your whining." Lexi said rolling her eyes.

"I did not whine!"

"Yes you did." Nico nodded. "You were worse than the other kids."

Derek glared at his friends.

"You are just jealous that I got candy and you didn't." He stuck his chin up.

"Yeah that's it." Noah said under his breath. I shared a grin with Alex.

"So you kids going to a party tonight?" Noah's dad asked. Right then Ava walked back into the kitchen.

"Love your costumes."

"I picked them!" Harper said through a mouthful of chocolate.

"Well you did an amazing job." She beamed at Harper. While Ava went over to Harper to look at the candy Noah answered his dad.

"Yeah we are going to leave here in a minute. We won't be that late."

"If you guys need a ride just call me." I tried to hide my shock at his response. He wasn't going to grill us about who will be there? If there will be parents? Make sure we don't drink?

"We will." Well that was....easy? I wasn't really sure what I expected but Noah's parents were so chill. But then again they didn't really have to worry about. We were all responsible....aside from Derek.

"You guys have fun. Try and be home by 3 kay?" Ava added. Everyone nodded while I just stood there. "We are going to hand out candy aren't we sweetie." She turned to Harper who nodded. Just then the doorbell rang for trick or treaters.

Helping Harper off the stool the two headed for the door. Throwing a quick 'be careful' over her shoulder, Ava disappeared around the corner.

"The party starts in about an hour so any plans until then?" Olivia asked. Immediately she was met with a chorus of 'game room' from the boys. "Game room it is."

As the boys practically shoved each other running to the other side of the house us girls slowly followed. The three of us shaking our heads.

When we got to the game room I was once again in awe of it. No matter how many times I've been in here it hits me how rich Noah really is. The room was filled with all different kinds of games.

A foosball table. Air hockey. Pool. A few arcade games. He even had one of those basketball hoops. And don't forget the huge tv with a couch to play video games. The room was a bit insane. But the perfect place to waste an hour before the party.

Alex called my name and wave me over to the air hockey table. Grinning I left the girls side and made my way towards him. As we started to play I ignored the sudden pit in my stomach, ready to have a great night with my friends.
