Later that night, after Hawks had gone to bed, you lay there, snuggled up under the blankets trying to process everything that he had said and reminiscing about your childhood. Everything made sense now... It made your heart ache.

I've been used, abused, stifled, mislead, everything... You thought sadly, My whole life had been a lie. Who even am I anymore?...

You rolled onto your side and curled up into a ball, tears falling onto the pillow as you sniffed heavily. That's when something soft touched your cheek. You reached for whatever it was and pulled a red feather from your face. All you could do was hold it close to your chest as you sobbed.

Suddenly the bed creaked behind you and you jumped with fright as you whipped your head back to see who it was. Hawks was there, shirtless, poised on the side of the bed with both hands and one knee sinking into the mattress.

"You okay, chicken?" He asked softly.

"No..." You cried in a wobbly voice and he crawled onto the bed, slipping under the covers and cuddling up behind you. He gave you a gentle kiss on the cheek before wrapping an arm around your waist and pulling you back against as he stretched a wing over you.

"I know Its a lot to take in, Yin, you're doing so well." He whispered as he tucked your hair behind your ear, "It's good to cry." He encouraged. It felt as if he had given you full permission to release your feeling and the flood gates opened.

Hawks didn't say anything you cried. Just held you gently and occasionally kissed the back of your neck softly, letting you get it all out.

Eventually you fell asleep, still wrapped in his arms and snuggled under the blanket with his wing stretched out over you.

The next morning you woke and found that he was gone. There was a little note on the bed beside you and you that read,

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hey chicken, I've gone to work but I'll be back, make yourself at home. DON'T turn your phone on and DON'T answer the door, even if the person on the other side sounds like me. I have a key and can let myself in. I've left a few feathers around the apartment so I can keep an eye on things, so don't mind them.
PS.
I may have also left them there so that I can see if you're dancing naked.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

You snorted, This idiot. You chuckled internally.

You laid in bed a bit longer before you got up, made yourself breakfast along with a hot drink, then sat down on the couch and turned on the TV, keeping the volume down of course.

Hawks arrived at work with a bright smile on his face, giddy about the fact that he finally had you. Though his face soon fell when he reached his office door and sensed someone was inside.

Ugh, public safety Prez again... What does she want now? He thought as he opened the door.

"Hey, boss." He greeted blandly, "Bit early for you to be sulking around my office, don't you think?" He asked as he found the president going through his computer.

"We have reason the believe that the capture last night was a failure because of you, Hawks." She said pointedly.

"Those are strong words, Prez." He said wit a Koi smile, sitting down in his chair across from her and resting his cheek in his hand, "Care to back it up with a bit of evidence?" The president glared at him with her piercing blue eyes. "Didn't think so."

She didn't reply for a moment.

"So you're telling me we have no idea what happened to the mother and Yin Lin?" She said directly.

"Ah, they got away from you before, didn't they?" He asked with a dry chuckle,

"By the time I arrived they were already gone, and that was before your boys showed up." He jeered, "You've got the father though, used him to track them down once before. Just use him again." He finished sarcastically

"Where are they, Hawks?" The president asked darkly.

"The mom and daughter? They're at my place, waiting for you." He said casually.

"Don't be stupid, Hawks, we know you wouldn't be so daft as to hide them at your place!" The president snapped.

"Oh~ losing your cool, are you?" Hawks jeered with a smirk, "What do you want the mother for anyway? She's quirkless."

"She is an important part of this investigation." The president said coolly.

"Oh! So in other words, emotional extortion." Hawks replied bluntly, "Threatening to hurt her so the daughter does what you want? That's so upright of you! It's really nice to know that we have a just government overseeing us."

The president quietly seethed, knowing Hawks was correct and that he would do the 'right' thing. In this case that meant to NOT had over the mother and daughter.

"We will find them, Hawks." The president vowed, "Consider yourself a suspect, you will no longer be working on this mission." She said as she stood abruptly, intending to leave,

"I also find it very interesting how Yin handed in her resignation letter via Email this morning." She added, "What a coincidence that she worked her..." And with that she stalked out of the room and slammed the door behind her.

Hawks stayed in the chair, thinking.

Hmm~. So someone came earlier and took the mom before I got there and got Yin. Who would be taking the mother?...

He got up and walked over to the kitchenette to make himself a coffee,

They're holding the dad till they get Yin, then he gets off scot-free with a hefty payment and one-way trip to the Bahamas, while she lives her life being controlled by the government with her mom held over her head. He mulled as he made his coffee,

Of course, without the mom it makes things a little tricky. They'd have no choice but to resort to torture, and someone would definitely blow the whistle...
