Over the next few months, you worked hard to bring your mom back up out of her quirk induced depression by praised her for small things, like getting out of bed or brushing her hair. You showered her with love whenever she was herself and by doing that you slowly gained confidence in yourself too.

Meanwhile, Hawks was commissioned to find your father. He knew what he was doing, but he had his won motives. He hadn't told you that he knew about you, your background, or your quirk. This lead you to believe that he had just lost interest in that part of you and moved on which took a weight off your shoulders.

As your life started to stabilize to a new normal, you wanted to practice your quirk, for good of course, you wanted to help people.

"hey, chicken." Hawks greeted as he strolled into your office. "Wanna get lunch with me?" Hawks had made it known that he liked you. He was very perceptive, and although he had kissed your cheek once and made it look like he wanted to kiss your lips, He hadn't made any further moves apart from the occasional flirtatious line. You were flattered that he had feelings for you, but you were still a little dubious about letting him get too close. Having said that, you were falling for this hot hero more and more. You nodded with a closed lip smile. "Okay, Lets go then." He replied as you walked up beside him and the two of you walked upstairs and out of the building.

As you neared the door, Hawks paused. "You wanna hang back while I deal with the crowds?" He asked with a chuckle.

"No." You said confidently, "I'll walk out with you and walk down the street while you deal with them."

"Did you want a feather?" He asked with a smile. Hawks had gotten into the habit of giving you a feather whenever he felt like you were getting anxious about something. It had become a bit of a safety blanket for you.

"No, I'll be okay." You said with a determined look on your face.

"Oh~ Big girl now, huh?" He said with a gentle chuckle, "Alright, let's go then." He reached forward and pushed the door open. immediately people swarmed him. Your heart rate shot through the roof and you ducked your head down, making your way for the clearing between people. "Hey now." He said gently to a few people who had blocked your path while trying to get closer to him. "Let the lady through." He said.

"Sorry Hawks. Sorry Miss." They said as they stepped aside.

"I- It's you." You said softly. Ah, damn. I was trying to say 'It's okay' and 'thank you' but it came out as a mash of the two! I feel so stupid... You quickly ran from the crowd, wailing internally as you went. A few seconds later, Hawks joined you.

"You're doing really well." He commented, 'You've been a little more confident lately." He praised.

"I'm doing my best." You replied, giving him a small smile. "Moms doing better too."

"Glad to hear it." He replied, shoving his hands in his pockets. "I haven't seen my parents in ages." He said softly as he looked down. You felt something in his tone of voice and looked at him sympathetically. He cleared his throat and changed the subject, "So. If you were a fruit, what would you be?" He asked.

"What?" You giggled.

"You heard me." He laughed, "What fruit would you be?" You two continued to chat. As you passed people that you saw looked sad, you would gently touch them with your quirk to cheer them up a little. Hawks continued to talk to you as though he was focused on the conversation, but a few times you noticed that he was sending feathers out. Then you payed more attention and saw that he was helping people as he was chatting with you. Oh wait, hold up- He looks like he's not paying attention to his surroundings but he is! does that mean he's noticed me using my quirk? You looked at him as he finished a sentence and noticed that he was glancing back at something.

"Everything okay?" You asked.

"Yep." He replied happily, looking back to you. "Well, here we are for lunch." He said, gesturing to the café ahead. You looked up at it and the two of you entered. The two of you sat down but Hawks seemed distracted, his feathers spread out slightly.

"Are you alright?" You asked. He looked at you, his gaze shifting across your features as he stared intently, rubbing his chin with one gloved hand.

"You're on to me." He chuckled, "Sorry, I'm in the middle of investigating someone and I think i may have found them."

"Who?" You asked.

"That's classified information." He said with a laugh.

"Oh right, sorry." You replied.

"Don't be." He said, "I'd love to be able to tell you. Maybe I will later." You nodded and looked down at the menu. "Yin, uh, excuse me for just one moment." He said, and got up, "I'll be right back."

"O-Okay." You nodded, watching him as he left.

From an alleyway nearby your father watch with disdain as you and Hawks entered the café. I don't like that Hawks is keeping such a close eye on Yin... He thought as he adjusted his hat and stepped back into the shadows. He turned around to leave, and came face to face with the number two hero.

"What's the matter pop, can't keep away from your toy?" Hawks jeered smugly with his arms crossed.

Your dad jumped in fright, "uh- I don't know what you're talking about." Your dad replied gruffly.

"Come on (F/N), give it up. I'm already onto you." Hawks said with a smirk. Your dad pulled his hat down over his eyes and quickly threw his hand out to tap Hawks with his quirk, but Hawks was already behind him and had him in a chokehold. "Woah ho! It's not very nice to use your quirk on someone like that without saying hello first!" Hawks said in a playful disappointed tone. "You know the governments looking for you, not the wisest move to b out and about. So why're you here pops?"

"Non of your damn business." you dad Growled.

"Hey now," Hawks laughed, " I really don't think you're in any position to be getting short with me. Remember your 'please'(s) and 'thank you'(s)"

"What're you gonna do, hand me in?" You dad growled once more.

"Incase you've forgotten or just haven't heard, I'm a pro hero old man, that's my job." Hawks replied casually. Just then, government agents dropped from the roof in grappling gear and apprehended you father.

"She'll never forgive you when she finds out that you were responsible for putting me behind bars!" Your dad growled dangerously low as the agents handcuffed him.

"I'm not the one putting you behind bars, they are." Hawks replied calmly. "I just kept you busy till they caught up."

"You'll pay for this!" He seethed, "I've done nothing wrong!"

"So then emotional abuse is acceptable?" Hawks asked dryly, "Okay pops."

"I never abused ANYONE!" your dad shouted.

"I'm sure others beg to differ" Hawks deadpanned. "Anyways, buttercup. I got a lunch date with someone special, so if you don't mind." He stepped back and flicked your dad a salute, "I'll be seein' ya."

"You'll pay Hawks! YOU"LL PAY!" Your dad bellowed as Hawks disappeared into the sky.

"Hey Chicken, sorry 'bout that." Hawks said calmly as he sat back down at the table. "Just getting myself into a bit of a messy situation." He added with a laugh.

"O...Kay?" You replied with a curious head tilt.

"What're you getting?" He asked as he looked down at the menu.

"Oh, um, something. I guess." You replied.
