Raelyn's heart beat quickly in her chest as she slipped easily past the northern border of the pack lands. She'd never been this far by herself before, had never even set foot off the pack's lands, if it wasn't in a car with her family going to a store, or on vacation and that was something that rarely happened anyways. Her eyes scanned the forest and she glanced back over her shoulder to be absolutely certain that no one had followed her.

Reeve was her twin sister, but they looked nothing alike. While Reeve was blonde, with blue eyes and a curvy, but still very slim figure, Raelyn was the more athletic of the two girls. She had long black hair that she always wore in two long french braids down her back, and hazel eyes that were nearly green, but not quite. She had curves, but only just barely, since her metabolism seemed to burn through everything she ate like wildfire.

Sometimes she was a little jealous of her sister's figure, but she wanted to be a warrior someday. There hadn't been a female warrior in nearly a decade and she was so close that she could practically taste it. It was everything that her parents didn't want for her, but it was all that she had wanted since she was a pup.

Walking faster it only took her a short while to come upon the cabin that her sister described. She stopped short and stared at it for almost a minute, her mind going over what Reeve had said. Her sister had been evasive when she'd tried to get more answers out of her about why she needed to go up to the cabin and why the Alpha would have a secret job for her there. It sounded cagey as Hell. But she was eighteen and her parents still managed to keep both of the girls from having any sort of social lives. It was hard to break away, living in the pack, and even though legally she was an adult, in terms of how this particular pack treated things, she wouldn't truly be considered an adult until she found her mate.

She knew it wasn't that way everywhere, but that was how it was in Amber Moon and she didn't have the funds to get away and start over. At least not yet. But she'd been scrimping and saving and every little bit helped. That's why she hadn't looked too carefully at this opportunity to work for the Alpha when Reeve had tossed it her way.

Raelyn blew out a breath and approached the door, knocking three times with as much confidence as she could muster. Her wolf made a whining sound in her chest, but she immediately shushed her. This was their Alpha she'd been working for. He was the safest male they knew, other than their father.

Alpha Cadman came to the door after a few long moments, his eyes swept over Raelyn, evaluating her from head to toe, lingering on the subtle curve of her breasts and hips, before returning to her eyes.

"Come in, come in, you must be Reeve's sister? Am I right?" She stepped through the doorway and looked around. The cabin appeared to be absolutely spotless, and she wondered what it was that he was going to have her clean.

"I am, Alpha Cadman. My name is Raelyn. I'm very grateful for this job."

"Yes, of course," he gestured to a room that was off to her right and she followed his lead, coming into a large master bedroom with an enormous bed standing in the center of the room. "There's actually something more important though that I would like to discuss with you. Rae. May I call you Rae?" He smiled warmly at the dark haired She-Wolf and she nodded, her brow furrowing as he sat down on the bed, before patting a place beside him.

"I don't know if you heard about the situation with my Luna." He looked into her eyes for a long moment, as if watching for a flash of recognition, and when he didn't see what he was looking for he looked away, his expression one of forced sadness. "You see, Rae, my chosen Luna abandoned me recently and broke my heart. She ran away with the visiting Alpha of another pack, despite the fact that we'd been hoping that she was carrying my child. My heir. You know how important it is that an Alpha has a male heir." His eyes came back to her face, watching carefully again as he waited for her to begin to process what he was saying.

"I'm not sure I understand." Her voice was suddenly nervous and he realized that the strategy that he'd used with her sister might not be the one to use with this girl. It wasn't that she didn't understand, he thought, as his lips curved in a smile. He thought that perhaps she understood too much. She was smart, maybe too smart to be tricked easily. But she still might be useful.

"What is it that you want more than anything else in the world, Raelyn? I'm guessing it isn't to be my Luna?" He watched her face carefully and she glanced down at her hands before lifting her gaze to his eyes.

"I want to be a warrior, Sir. More than anything else. I've trained for that since I was small, mostly without my parents knowing because they don't approve."

"I need a woman who is strong and smart, and who has all the best traits, to be the mother to my child. If you would attempt that, if you would give yourself to me, and let me breed you, then I will do everything in my power to make you a warrior. I can see that you're fit for it. I'll give my recommendation, and let you train for the job of warrior. You'll have to stop all the contact training when you're pregnant but I promise your spot will be saved for you after you birth my child."

"And if you want to be part of raising him with me you can, but you don't have too. I could hire a dozen nannies. You can be as involved as you choose. I will make sure you are richly rewarded and cared for, for the rest of your life if you are the one who succeeds. If you aren't I will still promise you a place among the warriors, or at least a chance to prove yourself."

Rae stared at Alpha Cadman for a long moment, weighing his words.

"That isn't all I ask of you though, Rae." She nodded, so he went on. "I want you to pick out a half dozen other girls who you think would suit this task. They might be girls like your sister, who you think would do it because the promise of the possibility of being the Luna would be enough. Because if that is enough I'm fine with that. If the girl who can give me an heir only wants that, I'll give it to her. But if you know strong, smart, beautiful girls your age who you think would make a deal like yours? I'll give you ten thousand dollars for each one you bring here. But only if you know they can be as quiet as you and your sister. Do you understand? For I've killed many men in my time and I'd have no problem silencing either of you or anyone else who stands in the way of me passing on my line." He fixed her with a serious gaze and she nodded.

"Yes, Alpha. And yes to the agreement."

"That was quick." He murmured, stepping towards her.

"You just offered me everything I've ever wanted and a way out from under my father's thumb. Fuck. How could I say no."

"There's only one other thing, my gorgeous Rae." He ran his thumb back and forth across the spot on her neck, his eyes flashing red.

"What's that Alpha?" her voice was barely a whisper as the hair on the back of her neck stood on end.

"I must mark you. Later you can have me reject you. The mark will fade. But marking you will put you in heat. And even now it will make you more likely to fall pregnant with my pups."

She focused her eyes on the floor and nodded once. "Do it." Her voice was hardly more than a whisper and she pressed her eyes closed as he stepped close to her, lifting her chin.

"I will, Baby Girl. But I'll wait until I'm inside of you, so I can feel you coming around me when I do it. Alright." She nodded again, her hands in fists. "Are you nervous, Baby?" His hands were at the edges of the simple knee length black cotton dress she'd worn to see him. He knew already, even without asking, that she was. He could smell her nervousness thick in the air. But he could also smell her desire.

Releasing her he stepped back and stripped off his own shirt, watching as her eyes widened as his chiseled abs and chest were revealed. Maybe showing her what she was getting would calm her a bit. He liked this one more than he'd expected, more than her sister, or the bitch from Obsidian Moon, who he might have liked if she wasn't from Obsidian Moon, but there it was.

He kicked off his boots and made quick work of his pants, watching her with a small smile as she gripped the fabric of her dress near her hips, her cheeks flushed as he watched her pull the dress up over her head.

It was a shame that this one didn't want to be a Luna. Just like Alice, it seemed that the ones who were the best fit, didn't seem to want to play the part.
