----------------------------------------

Tord looked at the ring on his finger. It wasn't the best but it definitely held a meaning for him.

The other person wearing it though? Not so much.

The rings were a part of a promise they made, but it was just some little promise? Who would stick to it?

I'd stay with you till I get old.

What kind of a cheesy fucking promise is that? No one could keep that. You'll get old and die of old age if you're lucky.

Tord sat up more and sighed. "I should probably take this off." He muttered quietly to himself, taking the ring off, he got up and went to his room, tossing it in there somewhere he'd find the next time he cleans the room. Which was probably gonna be a long time.

Tom glanced over at Tord when the guy walked back to where he was previously seated, eyes immediately going to Tord's hands. Where's the ring? Where's the ring? Where the fuck is the ring?

Why would he care? He wasn't wearing the ring now of course, his fingers were getting to big for it, so he made it a necklace, which he'd wear every single day.

"Tord?" Tom looked at him. Not really surprised when he got no response. How did they drift away from each other this far? They were so close when they were kids till highschool...but college was their relationship's turning point.

"Is there something wrong?" He asked again, worried. He wanted to know why Tord took the ring off.

"Hm. No." Tord deadpanned, eyes on his phone. His middle finger was rubbing on the ring finger, where the ring used to be. He missed the feeling of the ring being there. He missed the feeling of just holding onto the hope that he'd fix he and Tom's relationship.

Yet here they were, acting as if they didn't know each other before they all moved in with each other.

Fuck, what a situation.

Tom sighed. "Why aren't you wearing the ring? Can you please look at me?" He asked, watching Tord, he wanted to see Tord face him, he wanted him to be close to him again.

Tord looked over "You're not wearing yours, why would I?" He muttered. No, No no no no no no- why was he tearing up? He thought he was over him! He rubbed his eyes immediately and looked away. "Besides. I couldn't bare to wear it. It was tight." Lie. It fit perfectly on his finger, despite the years going by.

Tom watched. "I am wearing it Tord." He sighed and watched him, frowning when he saw him tear up. He pulled out the necklace with the ring. "Here, you want proof?" He showed him. Listening to his reasoning, he sighed.

Tord glanced over at the necklace, only to tear up more. Great going, Tord. You fucked it up more. With those thoughts in mind, he just moved his gaze away, his legs quickly shuffling him over to the bathroom, he closed and locked the door.

Tom flinched and looked up, he frowned a bit and got up, sighing, he put the necklace on once more before leaving the house.

Once Tord heard the front door shut, he peeked out of the bathroom, looking around, he got out and quickly walked upstairs, tears were streaming down his cheeks as he bit on his inner cheek, one thing was on his mind and that was to find his ring again, Tom probably went out drinking so it'd be a lot of time for him, once he did reach the room, he closed and locked the door, looking around for a moment before going to move everything so he could find his ring.

His ring. His promise with Tom. The only thing he was holding onto. The only thing giving him hope of Tom still actually liking him.

While Tord was cleaning up his room, Tom was at a jewelry shop, he was asking one of the employees for a nice promise ring, showing him the ring sizes, it was probably dumb to spend this much money for a stupid little promise, but he liked seeing Tord having the ring on his finger; it gave him a sense of hope, he's been trying to reach out to him, he has, he just always ends up chickening out and accidentally insulting Tord in the process.

Tom continued to talk with the employee, looking at some nice rings, Tom ended up buying one beautiful pair, it should fit both of them perfectly, the rings were silver, of course, gold really never got Tom or Tord's eyes in rings, they really liked the silver ones. Tom had their names engraved in the rings, for Tord's ring, there was Tom's name engraved in it, for Tom's ring, there was Tord's name engraved in it. Tom liked it.

Maybe this could be the time where he could finally talk to Tord about everything that has been happening? Maybe they can start to work things out for their relationship? Hopefully so.

Tom had walked home, rings in his pocket, it had been roughly 3 hours after he left the house, now he's just walking back, just taking a break and looking at the lovely outside scenery, watching the sun set.

Tord on the other hand, couldn't find his ring. Due to this, he was panicking, he would let out frustrated yells, suddenly slam his fist on the table, bite on his cheek way too hard, or just take a moment to take a breather. Soon enough Tord had given up, putting his furniture back where they belong, opening the window to let some fresh air in. Maybe he should've done that at the beginning.

"I'm never gonna find this.." he sobbed, rubbing his eyes as he sat on the bed. "What am I even gonna tell him.." he sniffled. "...At least my room's clean...I'll continue searching for it tomorrow.." he laid down and rubbed his eyes, letting out a deep sigh of frustration and exhaustion as he rubbed his face.

"I hate this..why did I even throw it?! Stupid! Stupid stupid stupid stupid stupid stupid!!" Tord groaned and slapped his cheeks with his hands as he said that sentence, looking up at the ceilings with a huff.

Tom had entered the house, he looked around and glanced at the bathroom door, knocking on it and peeking in once he got no answer, he went upstairs after that, sighing, he looked at Tord's room and bit his cheek slightly.

"Here goes nothing.." he murmured quietly and hesitantly knocked on Tord's door, waiting quietly.

Tord perked up when he heard the knock "Tom..?" He asked and got up, going out of bed, he sighed and fixed himself slightly, he looked at the door and went to open it "Yes?-" he asked, eyes on him, gripping on the doorknob.

Tom watched him "Hi- uhm- I wanted to talk about something.." he mumbled and watched Tord, slightly fiddling with his hands.

Tord watched "The last time you said that sentence everything went wrong in our relationship." Tord mentioned "What is it?" He asked and sighed, watching Tom with a small frown, he didn't want any bad news today, this day's been shit.

Tom watched "Is this a bad time..?" He frowned a bit. Tord watched "Just tell me whatever the fuck you wanna tell me." He muttered, it was quite obvious that Tord was in a bad mood already.

Tom watched "I—" he paused and took a deep breath "I really wanna apologize, Tord, I'm so sorry for everything that happened." He mumbled.

"I said to tell me what you wanna tell me. Not beat around the bush." He muttered.

"Just- here.." Tom sighed and took out the small box, taking out Tord's ring. "You said the ring didn't fit you anymore..so I went and bought both of us a new one.." he mumbled and looked at him, handing him the ring.

Tord watched, stunned and speechless.

"We can keep the promise out of this if you want to, I don't really mind..well- I do, but I just wanna see you wear the ring.." he mumbled and watched Tord, frowning.

Tord watched "..I lost the old ring.." he murmured after a while of silence, he looked up at Tom. "I'm sorry..I was just so frustrated because I don't see you wear your ring and I threw it somewhere in my room out of spite- when you showed me the ring on your necklace I went to find it when you left and cleaned up my room but now I can't find it—" Tord whined, not  really taking a breather as he spoke.

Tom perked up, taking a while to process it "Hey— hey, breathe, it's alright, I don't mind,,we can just find it when we clean the house, okay?- it's alright, no need to panic about that..I got us a new one, we can wear it,," he smiled softly. "Come here..give me your hand,," he watched him.

Tord watched and whined quietly, he went and handed his hand to Tom, watching him slip the ring on his middle finger, he sighed softly, mostly out of relief, he smiled and gently hugged him. "Thank you.." he mumbled quietly, looking up at Tom "Really.." he smiled a bit.

Tom blushed and watched him, hugging him back "If you won't mind,," he started "Maybe we can talk about out relationship..?" He asked and held him softly.

Tord watched and smiled a bit "Yeah..I'd like that.." he murmured and softly nuzzled onto his neck, holding him close "We can talk in my room?" He looked at him and hummed quietly to himself.

"Of course.." Tom smiled softly and gently patted his head, going into the room with Tord.

The two talked about everything, starting from their very first misunderstanding, they apologized to each other, then ended up falling asleep in each other's arms, all warm.
