****

I'm trying not to have a panic attack as I wait to find out who is on the other side of the door.

I mean, there's nothing to worry about.

Right?

Lisa's great so why would anyone not love her like I do?

Right!

Everything is going to go just fine.

No need to panic at all.

I can be as cool as a cucumber.

Oh gross, that's a bad analogy.

I shouldn't be thinking about cucumbers at all.

Great, now I can't stop thinking about cucumbers and what they look like.

It's like Jisoo has channeled herself into my mind and I'm freaking out like she would be doing at a moment like this one.

I'm not insulting my friend.

Really I'm not.

We all know her mind is both one of her greatest assets, but it also causes her to worry about problems that aren't really there.

I take a few deep breaths as I smile at Lisa.

It's a good thing she can't tell how nervous I am.

"You need to relax," Lisa whispers under her breath.

Shoot.

I thought I was doing so well.

The door swings open and I see Mrs. Kim's face smiling at us.

Yes!

Even though she can get carried away at times like her daughter, I'm glad it's her.

She welcomed me into the Kim clan with open arms and I'm sure once she gets a chance to know Lisa, she'll welcome her too.

That sounds more confident.

Right?

"Rosé," Mrs. Kim exclaims brightly. "It's so good to see you."

I grip Lisa's hand and for the first time today, I'm at ease. "It's good to see you as well," I reply smoothly before I inhale sharply. "This is Lisa," I say to Mrs. Kim, "my girlfriend."

I know I'm blushing.

I can feel my cheeks are on fire.

How wonderful.

I'm so not the blushing type.

Except where Lisa is concerned.

She makes me feel things and act in a way I'm not used to.

Mrs. Kim grins widely at Lisa as she extends her hand. "It's very nice to meet you."

There, that wasn't so bad.

I got all anxiety ridden for nothing.

"It's nice to meet you too," Lisa replies with that smile of hers that melts my heart completely.

Crap.

I've turned into that sappy girl I vowed I'd never turn into.

Jisoo is going to have a field day with me.

I probably shouldn't have bugged her about turning into one when she met Jennie.

At least I'm not as bad as her. That I know for sure. You should hear her ramble on and on about how amazing Jennie is. Once she gets going she could talk your damn ear off.

Yes we all get how wonderful Jennie is.

Jisoo tells us all the time.

I'm so busy musing about my friend's big mouth that I don't notice I've walked inside the Kim home.

I take a quick look around and let out a big breath when I see that no one else is around.

Maybe I should have eased Lisa into meeting everyone by doing it in small groups.

I could have started with Mr and Mrs. Kim, then moved onto Bobby and Hanbin and finally onto Jisoo and Jennie.

Oh right, I can't forget about Joon and Maddie.

They always seem to be forgotten for some reason.

Who am I kidding anyways?

Jisoo would have my neck if I waited to introduce Lisa to her last.

"Arthur is running late but not to worry, Bobby has already got the barbeque going," Mrs. Kim informs us.

Sweet.

I can have a few minutes with just Mrs. Kim to gauge how everything is going before Lisa gets her first introduction to Bobby.

How does one prepare someone for meeting Bobby?

He's uhm, he's unique.

I love him to death but he can be full on at times.

Most of the time.

About 99% of the time.

Hanbin has managed to rope him in somewhat but with Bobby's that's not saying much.

"Has the happy couple arrived?" I ask.

Paula shakes her head. "No, Jisoo called to say they're running late, but they should be here very soon."

I wonder what they could possibly be doing for them to be running late.

What is each other, Alex?

Pardon the Jeopardy reference, it's one of my favorite shows.

I laugh to myself and I'm so busy admiring my wit that I don't hear the sliding door open.

"Oh my god!" Bobby squeals at the top of his lungs. "Hanbin, Hanbin, guess who's here!"

Fuck!

There goes my alone time with Paula.

Ew.

I didn't mean that sentence to come off as dirty.

Hanbin runs in the house with a big smile. "Well who do we have here?"

Ugh.

They both think they're being funny but they're not.

Bobby grabs Hanbin's hand before he drags his boyfriend over to Lisa and me. "Hello you two," he smirks.

I think he's up to something.

There's a twinkle in his eyes that I don't trust.

"Hey, Bobby," I say as I squeeze Lisa's hand. "There's somebody I'd like you to meet."

"Took you long enough," Bobby jokes.

He is so going to get it at work tomorrow.

Mr.-thinks-he's-so-funny-that-he laughs-at-his-own-dumb-ass-jokes.

I hide my annoyance with a larger than life smile. "Good things come to those who wait."

I hear Lisa chuckle and I'm not sure if she's laughing at me or at my lame comeback.

Bobby ignores me completely as he zeros in on Lisa. "You must be Rosé's girl."

I clear my throat before I'm forced to listen to Bobbby and Hanbin bicker. "Guys this is Lisa." I motion to my side. "Lisa, this is Bobby and Hanbin."

The three of them exchange pleasantries and now I only have to worry about a few more people meeting my girl.

I don't want you to get the wrong idea.

I have all the confidence in the world that Lisa will be well liked.

It's just the Kims, especially Jisoo, mean a lot to me and so does their opinion.

If one of them happened to think Lisa isn't a good match for me I don't know what I would do.

My own parents never really gave me their acceptance but I managed to find that with this amazing family that treats me like one of their own.

My mom and dad didn't disown me or anything when I came out.

But I know they were disappointed by the news.

I'm an only child and my mom had all these plans for my future that obviously aren't going to come true. I tried playing straight for a while because I didn't want to ruin those plans but it was too hard and too much work to pretend to be something I'm not.

I wasn't happy and now I am.

Lisa enhances my happiness a hundred times over.

I was content before she came into my life.

A little lonely perhaps, but content nonetheless.

"I just love the color of your hair," Bobby coos. "Do the curtains match the carpet?" he asks me with a serious expression on his face.

Oh my god!

I can't believe he just said that.

And Mrs. Kim can't either.

"Bobby Kim, I taught you to have better manners than that!" she exclaims as she hits Bobby upside his head.

Ha!

There's a reason I love that woman.

"Sorry, mom," Bobby mumbles as he rubs the area that just got smacked.

Mrs. Kim grabs his ear as she drags him into the kitchen. "Excuse us for a second."

Lisa, Hanbin and I watch mother and son disappear around the corner in amusement. We hear Mrs. Kim continue to rant and rave at Bobby long after they are gone from our sight.

I don't feel the slightest bit sorry for that oaf.

He just doesn't think before he speaks.

"Sorry about him," Hanbin apologizes to Lisa and I. "It's very nice to meet you, Lisa, but I better go check on the food before it burns."

He leaves the two of us alone and I'm happy to report that Lisa doesn't look offended or upset.

I bring her hand up to my mouth to give it a soft kiss. "Do you want a drink or anything?"

She doesn't get a chance to respond.

Why, you ask?

Because a certain couple bursts through the front door and one of them is singing at the top of their lungs.

If you guessed that Jennie is the one singing you'd be wrong.

It's Jisoo.

And she looks like she just won the lottery.

Lisa and I turn around to say our hellos.

"Goin' to the chapel and we're gonna get married," Jisoo belts out with a lot of gusto. "That's right, I said, we're goin' to the chapel and we're gonna get married."

If it was anyone else I'd say they were being obnoxious but I let my friend have her moment because she deserves it.

There was a time I had my doubts Jisoo would get her girl.

I never doubted that Jennie had feelings for Jisoo.

A blind man could see she was crazy about her.

But I did have my concerns that Jennie wouldn't be able to move past her fears and insecurities to be with my friend openly and honestly.

It's a good thing she was able to or I so would have kicked her ass from here to kingdom come.

"Bells will ring, the sun will shine," Jisoo continues as she flings Jennie around like a rag doll.

That girl is a lot stronger than she looks.

"I'll be hers and she'll be mine." Jisoo isn't paying attention to anything but the sound of her own voice so she doesn't realize her shirt is caught on the door handle.

I try to get her attention but she's too lost in the moment.

"We'll love until, the end of time." Jisoo jumps in the air, or attempts to jump in the air and because she's caught on the door, she goes flying to the ground.

Oh man.

I want to laugh so bad.

Her arms and legs are all tangled together.

It's really a sight to behold.

Jennie doesn't even bat an eye.

She picks Jisoo's off the ground and then kisses her tenderly on the mouth. "Are you ok?" she asks her fiancé.

Jisoo nods her head but she's not able to prevent her face from going beet red. "It's a good thing I know how to take a fall."

I glace over at Lisa and she's biting down on her lip so hard I'm afraid she'll draw blood.

I assume she doesn't want to laugh either and risk Jisoo getting mad.

Aw!

She's the best.

I love that she's concerned about making a good impression on the people that mean so much to me.

"At least you didn't rip your shirt," I remark getting both girls attention. "But I guess it wouldn't be the first time you flashed your goods. Right?"

Oh my god!

What is wrong with me?

I never should have made a comment like that.

Even if it's totally true.

Jisoo glares at me and now it's Jennie's turn to stifle her laughter.

She knows better than to open her mouth, unlike me.

"Oh wait, it's Jennie that likes to expose herself. Well that's what I've heard anyway," I tease.

Seriously.

I need to shut the hell up.

I can't help myself.

I'm nervous and apparently being possessed by Jisoo's essence.

I brace myself for some sort of backlash from Jennie or Jisoo.

I'm really in for it now.

Jisoo lets go of Jennie's hand so she can cross her arms across her chest.

And she's giving me a look.

A look that confirms my worst suspicions.

I'm a dead woman.

"Are you planning to insult me and Jennie all night or do you care to introduce us to the girl that for some reason I can't think of is dating you?" Jisoo inquires with just a hint of sarcasm.

Jennie was giving me the evil eye before but now she seems amused.

They are up to something.

I can feel it in my bones!

Damn it!

Instead of addressing what I just did, I decide to ignore my faux pas and get to the introductions.

Which I do.

Once everybody has a chance to greet each other, Jisoo laces her fingers back together with Jennie's

"I'm a really big fan of yours," Lisa tells Jennie and she's not saying that because she's trying to score points.

I know that because my girlfriend is not an ass kisser.

Well, not that kind anyway.

"Thanks, I'm glad you can enjoy my music," Jennie modestly replies.

It's amazing but that girl has no ego.

Don't get me wrong, she has her moments and sometimes an attitude about her but it's mostly for show.

Even with all her success she's still the same person she was when I first met her.

I think a big part of Jennie is in awe at all that's happened in the past year.

I know I am.

All of our lives have changed but the change has been most welcome.

"She's so talented," Jisoo proudly gushes. "And her voice is the best there is."

"Jisoo, stop," Jennie says as she fights off her own embarrassment.

Jisoo is swinging their joined hands back and forth. "I can't help but speak the truth." Oh great, here comes the mushiness that makes me gag. "But enough about us."

Huh?

Did I just hear correctly?

"I want to know all about you," Jisoo is staring right at Lisa. "We have a lot of catching up to do."

Uhm how about no.

I don't like the tone of her voice one little bit.

As I study my bestfriend to figure out what exactly her crazy mind is thinking I notice something sparkling on her left hand.

"What the hell is that?" I ask as I point to the giant rock on her left ring finger.

"Oh you mean this?" she holds up the diamond band in question. "That's the engagement ring Jennie gave me this morning."

What?

She had a ring too?

Why am I not surprised?

I'll tell you why.

The two of them are on the same page so often it can get kind of scary.

Not creepy scary, more like freaky-coincidence scary.

"She said yes," Jennie smirks. "And she made me the happiest woman alive."

Aw!

And oh brother.

It's a good thing I'm not diabetic or I'd never be able to hang around the two of them.

Jisoo turns to face Jennie, momentarily forgetting that she's supposed to be bugging me or drilling Lisa with a ton of questions. "You're wrong, you made me the happiest woman alive last night." They gaze deep into each other's eyes and I'm fairly certain Lisa and I have left their thoughts completely. "I love you so much."

Jennie takes Jisoo into her arms and it's impossible not to feel and see how head over heals she is for my friend. "I love you too, Jisoo."

They seal their shared declarations with a soft, loving kiss that would melt a huge iceberg.

What in the world did I just think?

They're rubbing off on me.

And I'm not making any kind of sexual joke.

I need to get myself under control before I start serenading Lisa just to prove that I love her as well.

"Are you about done?" I ask trying to sound agitated.

I'm not.

I have nothing to be jealous about when I have a great girl that loves me a lot.

I thought I was in love with Jisoo after things ended with us but the feelings I have for Lisa are stronger and way more intense than anything I felt about the blonde who is now narrowing her eyes at me.

I'm glad Jisoo decided to end things with us when she did.

I was hurt at the time but looking back it was for the best.

We were able to salvage a friendship, a great friendship that might not have survived a messy break up.

"I have an idea," Jisoo announces. I so don't like the sound of that. "I'll give Lisa a tour of my parent's house while you and Jennie relax out back and enjoy the wonderful weather outside."

There's no way I'm leaving Jisoo alone with Lisa. Lord knows what kind of things she's going to tell my girlfriend. "Actually, I..."

"That sounds like a great idea," Lisa cuts in.

I try and protest but I'm not given a chance.

Jisoo is beaming. "Excellent, I have so many questions for you." She takes hold of Lisa's arm and leads her towards the stairs.

Lisa smiles like she's not concerned but I don't think she realizes what she's in for.

Jennie puts her arm around my shoulder before I can react. "Come on, Rosé, lets leave our girls alone to get to know each other better."

She's in on it too!

I glance back at Jisoo and Lisa as I'm getting pushed in the other direction by a smug looking Jennie.

Jisoo waves at me and there's nothing I can do but pray that my ex-girlfriend does nothing, or says nothing to humiliate me in front of my current one.

I'm so screwed!
